We had an amazing 3 nights at Rose Gums. Stunning views across a valley, lush rainforest and birdlife all around, and could fully open the sliding doors out to the balcony to enjoy the view. Friendly manager with lots of advice about things to do in the area, generous breakfast hamper and the walks around the property were stunning. Could not recommend highly enough!

What a beautiful, private place to stay at. The manager was super friendly and gave us a warm welcome to the place. Treehouse was stunning and came with a generous breakfast platter which we really enjoyed. Didn’t manage to see the resident cassowary, but it was fun looking out for it.

Amazing place - Highly recommend
Myself and my partner recently stayed in treehouse 2 and it was fantastic. Very secluded, great view from the treehouse and lovely interior.

The property is also great with many walking tracks, animal feeding and even a tennis court.

We will be back

The Atherton Tablelands is a spectacular place already but being able to stay at places like Rose gums takes it to a whole other level. The accommodation is stunning, big pole homes in the rainforest that feel like tree houses. Ours looked out over a big valley. It had everything we needed and there were 2 couples with infants. When we arrived we saw a cassowary and then more wildlife when we were shown around the property. In theorising we also got to see the Rainbow lorikeets feeding. Highly recommend staying here if you visit the Atherton Tablelands.

I don't think I've ever stayed in something quite this peaceful. While there are some spots in the property where you can get mobile reception, the Kookaburra treehouse where I was, was not one of them. And honestly, that was what made my stay that much more amazing. For 48 hours I didn't see, hear or have any contact from a single human being. There was a rather persistent bruch turkey who kept me company though. And several hundred singing and calling birds. This is a very special place. So, turn off the phone, unplug the TV, bring all your food and drink and reconnect with knowing how to cook, how to breathe and how to read. I do recommend bringing a notebook to write down your feelings, a book to read and lots of food - and maybe a bottle of gin. This has most assuredly been the highlight of my 2020.

Outstanding. Rainforest as far as the eye could see, wildlife galore, even saw an adolescent cassowary as we checked out. This is the ultimate Atherton Tablelands retreat. I rate this 6 stars!

If you are looking to relax and unwind in a stunning natural setting look no further than Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat. My partner and I spent 2 nights here and wished we had booked for more. The accommodation is made up of beautifully designed timber pole treehouses that look out over the adjoining Wooroonooran National Park. They are self contained and super comfortable (bed was so comfy!) and even come with a breakfast hamper for your first morning. David was an excellent host with great advice on what to see on the Tablelands and where to eat. Thanks for a terrific stay - we will be back.

Being here is amazing; cooking your meal while you are looking out at the forest, hearing (for us) strange birds around you. Very nice welcome with 'breakfast basket'. Walking in nature.. really relaxing!

Awesome place, and the staff is super friendly. We loved Treehouse N° 1 (Cockatoo). And the restaurant has amazing steak. Get some wine or beer from the reception, the restaurant is BYOB.

Amazing customer service, David went above and beyond helping with my booking. I was unfortunately unable to attend, I will definitely be rebooking the instant things open up again. This retreat as been highly recommended by friends who have visited, hopefully I'll see you soon!

Only spent 2 nights here, what an amazing stay, staff very helpful and freindly, the cabin was very well stocked with everything you need and the breakfast hamper was fantastic. Might be worth a stop at the shops on your way as there is nothing local.

Peaceful and well kept retreat. Very nice waking up to the sounds of the many different bird species around.

Great place with a lot of nature around your house. No wifi available and very hard to find something to eat, but you can cook by your own (very good kitchen included)

Our favourite place to get away and relax, only a few hours away from townsville and we’ll worth the drive.
