Travellers Medical Service

We were referred to the Travel Clinic in the Brisbane CBD as we were having issues accessing rabies vaccinations in Ipswich. The clinic had weekend appointments available which suited us well. Dr John Skala was fantastic at making sure all applicable vaccinations were planned for our trip to Bali. 3 visits and 3 painless rabies vaccinations later, and we are ready to go for April next year! We will be recommending the Travel Clinic to anyone we come across needing travel vaccinations, as we were told they get the injections supplied in bulk. Thank you so much Dr Skala, and to the weekend receptionist for a fantastic service.

Thank you to Dr Skala and the weekend receptionist for your fantastic service for assisting with the (hard to get locally) rabies vaccinations for my daughter and myself.

Although I waited 45 minutes to see the a Dr Skala for travel related injection's, the reception staff provided me with constant communication of when/how many patient's were in front of me/provided me with a coffee and I thought it was great!

Dr Skala had all injection's were I required, and although I had to pay privately I VALUE the safety, health and well being of myself much more then any value of money.

I will refer friends and I will definitely go back there.

I cannot THANK Dr Skala (& his team) enough for there excellent bed side manner, there was nothing that I felt uncomfortable telling him..... just an AMAZING DOCTOR (*Like our old "family Doctors in the past"). 100% Reliable and so very Caring 😊.

The waiting time was always too long. I always had to wait at least 45 minutes although I made appointment in advance. One time, I received a text message from clinic that my test results are ready. I checked with receptionist again upon arrival to clinic and she confirmed so. When I actually see the doctor, it turned out only partial results are ready and wasted my time and money as I had to schedule another appointment.

I was judged and didn't have my symptoms taken seriously by a doctor who subsequently asked me "if I reckon I should have a blood test". I wasn't too sure, but I could've sworn it was their job to decide that. I wonder how some of these people still retain medical degrees. And the poor professionalism doesn't stop there - anybody who reviews this place negatively gets blasted with information about how busy the practice is and how very lucky we all are to have attended it by the troll who haunts this page. My advice would be to concentrate on bettering your medical practice rather than abusing everybody who has a problem with it.

Air con was not helping my fever at all!!

The old male doctor with white hair spent about 2 minutes with me, he told me yes you have tonsilitis and wrote me a script for something i was already using but it was half the strength and my appointment cost 60 dollars.
There was no doctors certificate or any care for his patient. I went to the pharmacy around the corner got my script, they were very sure that i needed something else for my throat so the pain would stop i couldn't speak mind you but yet they wished me to get better.
I'm disgusted in the care taken to my at Travellers Medical service.

Undisputedly the worst. If you value your time and money, never go to this practice.
I booked an appointment for 3.30pm, told the staff on the phone that I need to be out of there before 4.30pm for another appointment. Arrive 3.34pm, wait 20 minutes. 3.55pm comes ask if I should reschedule. "No No only 1 or 2 minutes".
4.10pm Nurse finally surfaces. I tell her I need to leave before 4.30. Then finally they tell me I need to wait half an hour after the vaccination before I can leave, so I can't have the vaccination. They can do the consultation though and I can come back the next day for the vaccination. I don't need a consultation. I need a yellow fever shot.

They charge me $88 cash on the spot for 8 minutes with a nurse. No doctor (the doctor did walk into the room and tick a couple of boxes on a sheet of paper). Then tell me I'll have to go to medicare and waste an hour of my life to claim $36 back.

When i returned the next day to have the vaccinations, the managing doctor confronted me about this review. He told me he 'runs a very professional business'. Told me 'this is what gen' y's do.... ruin businesses on the internet with lies. I told him that the other reviews certainly indicate that this was not an isolated incident.

He tried to apologise at some point during this tirade against reviews on the internet. Amongst the gen y hating it didn't appear very sincere. He told me that he knows the owner of truelocal and that my review would be censored. His justification for the $88 consultation was the booklet that they print off the internet being worth $29.

I appreciate that he brought up the concerns but he was more interested in proving that I was wrong and he was right.

The nurses there are very smart and professional. The injections were delivered very professionally by the nurse and the risks of them were outlined before they were given.
