I liked the mood of the restaurant, we were situated at the bar and had a nice experience. I think overall it’s your standard Japanese fine dining restaurant, really nice food and experience, great for a special occasion, the seafood was good and tasted fresh. The salmon taco shell was a little thick and doughy, but the trout sauce was incredible, can’t go wrong with a warm and satisfying prawn toast and my friend really enjoyed the rib cap sanga!

My favourites were the xo chilli ramen noodles and the potato crisp- thought the flavours and textures of them both were phenomenal and the potato crisp reminded me of an okonomiyaki which is a plus. My friend’s favourite was the white miso flan, which I also liked but personally found the miso too salty and overpowering for a dessert. That being said, there wasn’t a single dish I didn’t enjoy and would happily return.

Amazing personalised experience with the waiter giving great feedback on which foods would and wouldn’t go well together as well as appropriate quantities. Had an amazing experience for our wedding anniversary dinner and cannot wait to come back again. 10/10 would recommend.

I had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant, largely thanks to the exceptional service provided by Alex. He was incredibly attentive, quick to respond to our needs, and genuinely caring towards all the customers. Throughout the evening, Alex ensured that everything ran smoothly, making our time there truly enjoyable. His professionalism left a lasting impression on us, and we were grateful for his outstanding service. Celebrated our 12 year anniversary, earlier on tonight.

The atmosphere was amazing, we both loved it. Service was on spot. The food came out and every dish that landed infront of us had exploding taste buds. We will definitely be back here again. Make sure to make a booking 👌

Wonderful place for a date night, or something different from the usual Valley dinner spots. We had the banquet which was outstanding on all courses, except perhaps the rice cream dessert which wasn’t to our taste. Love the atmosphere in here, staff are very attentive. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Hinestly, where do you begin. Honto is an experience from the moment you step in through the door to the very moment you leave. The service is attentive and warm, and the food is unbelievable. Quality ingredients blended perfectly in flavour and presentation. The ambiance of the restaurant adds to the entire sensory experience. I cannot wait to come here again!

Great dining experience. A very dark, trendy restaurant hidden at the end of an alley in Fortitude Valley. The table sharing reminds me of the French vist bistros in Paris. Drinks menu is on the very expensive side, although you can find some good gems in the wine list.

Food was fantastic. The highlights of the night were the +7 Wagyu rib eye ($110) that was probably the best steak I had in years. It actually reminded me of Esquire restaurant (rip) steaks back in 2014: amazing beef, cook perfectly. The other one was the miso eggplant. Incredible flavor.

Had a ridiculously amazing dining experience here. I highly recommend getting one of the set menus, and then just relaxing as the various dishes get brought out. My partner isn't a huge fan of seafood generally, but even he could tell how much thought and skill went into preparing the fish dishes. The servers were so friendly and warm too! My only (very slight) but of feedback would be to somehow make it cooler, as we both found it quite hot in the restaurant. Overall, I 100% recommend that everyone try this place!!

I recently dined at Honto in Brisbane and opted for the $130pp banquet. The service was attentive, contributing to an overall delightful dining experience. While the culinary journey was impressive with a diverse array of well-presented dishes, I must mention that the rice (that accompanied the phenomenal wagyu) and the dessert, did not meet expectations, but those are minor opinions in an overall great experience. Honto's commitment to quality makes it a standout choice for those seeking an elevated Japanese-inspired dining adventure in Brisbane.

Keep coming back here, food and service is always incredible! One of the best in Brisbane. The Moreton Bay bug sushi and coral trout are very special, but honestly can't fault anything!

Of all the restaurants we visited on our three night tour of fortitude valley, Honto was easily my favorite.
Absolutely stunning food and service, we were lucky enough to get a spot at 5pm and the place was nearly full by 5.15pm, unreal.

Salmon sashimi, salmon taco and the cocktails were amazing but the standout was the Morton bay bug sushi with caviar, it might be the best thing I’ve ever tried in a Japanese restaurant.
Highly recommend to all next time you’re visiting fortitude valley.

We couldn’t make the trip to the Daintree for my 50th so the decision to celebrate locally was a full scramble. Hontò and their amazing staff helped organise a perfect & unique experience that we’ll all remember for years to come! The Banquet option meant everyone was full & content especially after washing it down with a wide range of Whiskey and Imported Beers. Thanks again and I can’t wait to find another reason to visit ❤

Dark and moody atmosphere with unique seating arrangements. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Very attentive staff who were lovely to deal with. Eclectic drinks list. We did a la carte and over ordered but loved trying all the different textures and flavours.

We had dinner at this restaurant tonight and it was really good! The food and drinks were amazing, and the meals are good portion sizes for sharing. The staff were efficient, friendly, and professional and were very happy to cater to dietary requirements. The restaurant is located in a random spot where you would definitely not think to look for a fancy restaurant. The entrance is marked correctly on Google maps though, so follow the directions and you'll find it.

Food was amazing and that is not even an over exaggeration, it was so delicious, that i am definitely going to come again. Cocktails were on par that you just wanted another and another. Staff were friendly and attentive to our needs and the atmosphere was actually quite nice, yes it is quite dark inside but there are candles and chandeliers that bring out the ambience of the restaurant. Overall, we had such a wonderful night at Honto.

The Wagyu brisket with touch of charcoal was so tender and flavourful, and the Shiitake Caramel & Chocolate Ice Cream Sando was such a creative flavour. The restaurant's unique ambiance and aesthetic made for a memorable atmosphere that's hard to find elsewhere. We were seated in a great spot and eagerly anticipated the exceptional food.

Second time at Honto, the service, food and ambiance is all happening.

The standout dish was the potato crisp with whipped bottarga (fluffy and savoury, I almost didn’t want to finish off my piece) and prawn avocado sushi roll. You have 8pcs of very substantial bites. They also have a 10 y.o aged Umeshu on the menu, which is always a good time for me.

Sat on the bench seats we could also watch the chefs work their magic which was pretty cool.

We eagerly anticipate our return to savour more of the menu. Outstanding cuisine, impeccable service, and an ambience that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining adventure.
