This hidden gem takes me right back to Japan ! We were visiting gold coast from Melbourne for a few days and enjoyed the food here so much we came back a second time before we left :)

decently priced and beautifully plated dishes, the seafood here tasted so fresh. Highly recommend the chirashi bowls to get a taste of everything 🍱 the prawn and octopus tempura dishes were fantastic too. But if you're looking for something different they had an extensive menu with a wide variety of sushi sets to choose from as well.
Each dish came with a side of miso soup and marinated tofu 😋
We came around 1.30-2pm both times and didn't have to wait for a table.

It is very easy to walk by this place as you can only see the restaurant inside through the doorway, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled when you're close! Took us a second to find this place the first time we went hehe.
Also, we used Google maps to try get to Amimoto, but just know it might make you go through one side of the alley it's in, whereas you can just walk through the alley from its other end if you're coming from the light rail stop :) less walking and beats having to walk in a full circle to reach it.

Overall such a wonderful hidden local gem, would love to visit again if I ever come back to the gold coast, and will definitely recommend to anyone who plans on travelling over 😁💛

Amazing little hidden gem! The seafood was really fresh and the chirashi bowl is the best I've had. Great serving size and price.

Ok. Firstly there's no signage anywhere for thus place. Not outside, not even at the door. It's parked half way down this weird little narrow semi abandoned arcade from a bad horror movie. If you happen across the door, and you happen to look inside, you'll most likely find an older Japanese man preparing food. Nothing else. Decor, non-existent. Blutack everywhere from where signs have dropped off. Mismatch on tables and chairs. Despite how it looks, I implore you to go in. This place serves amazingly delicious food. everything is amazing. Traditional flavours. Not the commercially 'amended' flavours we might find in other major cities. Also great for solo meals.

Protect this gem at all costs!!
I'm guessing this is a family-run outfit? We were surprised to find this in an unsuspecting little alleyway.

I had the salmon/tuna sashimi don, hubby had the chicken katsu curry and we shared some gyoza. The sashimi was so succulent, fresh and melt in your mouth. Gyoza wrappers were so soft - do they make them fresh in the little kitchen?

Prices are quite reasonable and the freshness of the ingredients made it such a delight. I wish this family good health and happiness so that they can continue to run this absolute treasure.

This hidden gem is tucked away in an alleyway, and whilst it may not look it from the outside, this little restaurant served up some of the best sashimi I've had. Highly recommend the Sake Don, the salmon is so fresh and the portion is super generous. Definitely worth a visit!

Found this restaurant while scouting the area on Google Maps. Almost could not find this place as it was hidden away in the middle of a dead strip of shops that were all closed or unoccupied.

It's a small shop with limited seating, appears to be family run and may be the best Japanese food I've had in Australia. I had the Chirashi Don and the quality of sashimi was excellent. Incredibly fresh and thickly sliced. The wasabi was real wasabi too, not the playdough stuff you get at fast food sushi places. Went back again the next day and had the unagi on rice which was also incredible.

If I had a longer stay in Surfers Paradise I would've gone back several more times because it's really that good.

Everytime visiting the GC, this shop is kinda a must. The sushi master is still there. Sashimi and different types of chirashi are still very fresh and delicious. Even the miso soups are nice. Price wise? When some say unreasonable - I think their menu are definitely not expensive.

Very Japanese, think it’s the best Japanese restaurant I’ve tried in Australia. The atmosphere immediately pulled me to Japan. Service was good, the staff was friendly and welcoming. Food had been excellent, the Sashimi was fresh.

It's a Japanese restaurant that really feels like it's in Japan. I can feel the pride of Japanese owner chef . It is a place that I visited three times during the week of my trip. The texture of sashimi is really soft, and the freshness of seafood is fantastic. I've tried various menus, but all of them taste more than basic.

Don't be deceive on how this restaurant looks like from the outside as this is a hole in a wall restaurant. The food here is absolutely amazing 👏 My friend and I shared the mixed sashimi and the prawn salad. Everything we've ordered is just fresh. The stuffs are very friendly and rhe seevice is 5 star. Our food came out really quick. I highly recommend this place and I would definitely go back.

The waitstaff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Additionally, the prices were quite reasonable and provided good value for the quality of food and service received. Overall, it was a great Japanese dining experience.

I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try for a genuinely authentic Japanese dining experience. Although it's not in the most convenient location and has limited seating, the food is exceptionally delicious. The unagi rice and matcha cheesecake were incredibly tasty.

Love the sashimi and sushi here! Always sooo fresh and delicious! Last time we came was 4 years ago, must try their chirashi sushi 🥰 For me it definitely has one of the best sashimi we have had in Oceania. 🥰

Been here forever and never ever changes. Quality and freshness of the food is amazing. Small quiet Japanese sashimi cafe, just like the ones in a quiet alleyway in Japan.
