Great hotpot spot for all the hotpot lovers! The interior is amazing, too!

Soup bases we got were so full of flavour, which complimented anything that was cooked in it. All the food we ordered was super fresh, and our fave was the Premium Beef Slices and the Duck Blood!

We'll definitely be back to try everything we couldn't fit into our belly this time round!

I love the variety and quality of the selection here! I tried the Mala soup and also the bone broth and loved the flavours so much! They also had this thick chewy noodles (shaped like a churros!) which is my FAVOURITE ! I thought the service was great too, friendly staff, manager and overall nice vibes! Will definitely revisit! :)

This is one of the best hot pot restaurant in Melbourne to have duck blood jelly. We got the bone soup and tomato soup and both were delicious and flavourful. The ordering concept is simple - just tick the soups and ingredients you want to have and the staff will bring it to you. We loved the sweet potato noodle, beef tender, duck blood jelly, mashed fish with roe, Cantonese sausage and fish roe lucky bag. It was a fun and delicious dining experience. We will be back with friends :)

tanhotpot - 130 Bourke Street, Melbourne.

Delicious and spicy Chinese hotpot!

We ordered:
💕2 Flavoured soups. With the Tans traditional spicy soup on the outside and bone broth in the inside. Be aware of the massive amounts of chilli 🌶! $32.80
💕Fish shaped mince $11.80 🐟
💕Handmade balls mix platter $15.80
💕Fresh tofu $8.80
💕Premium beef slices $25.80
💕Mushroom platter $18.80 🍄
💕Bubble tea $7.80 🧋
💕Soymilk $4.80
💕Self served seasoning per person $3.80

Just wanted to say the favourite soup for us was the bone broth! It came with ham and some enoki! We weren’t able to handle the spiciness of the classic Tan’s traditional spicy soup, but just wanted to let you know it comes with veggies, quail eggs, and soo much chilli 🌶.

I also loved the hand made fishballs but I am really not sure what was inside the black one 🤣..

The fished shaped fish mince was also really nice! The beef was pretty good, but a little more on the thicker side.

We really enjoyed our time here and loved the decorations. The staff were really helpful in helping us choose what to order and also gave us tips on removing the chill from the hotpot prior to adding in the soup!

🚨Tan Hotpot has a special promotion until the 30th of April 2024!

If you come with a group of four or more people, they will deduct from the total bill the price of one person. It is available during lunch and dinner Monday to Thursday. On Friday to Sunday its available from 8 pm!

All you need to do is take a photo of the restaurant and leave it on for at least on hour on your social media account (not counting instagram stories). You just need to show it to the cashier during payment.

I love this place because they have such a wide variety of choices to choose from.
If you love spicy food, their signature tan’s traditional spicy soup got me sweating, coughing and drinking heaps of liquids to compensate but I could not put the spoon down. It was the perfect soup base to go with the wide variety of hot pot dishes and flavour was on point.
The Wagyu beef was a must order as it was tender and soaked up the soup base well. The cheesy sticky rice cake was also a favourite. Staff was super friendly and accomodating which really made my day.

❄Cooler weather calls for simmering hotpot 🔥 Tan hotpot is well-known for their duck blood jelly hotpot, and if you can’t handle spice like me, they also have non-spicy soup options. 🍲All of their soup bases are aromatic, flavourful, and accompanied with delicios toppings. 📑They also have a extensive list of ingredients for you to choose including meat, seafood, and vegies. We also loved murals and decorations with laterns, giving out an inviting and traditional ambience. 🏮

Conveniently situated right by the Russell & Bourke Street tram stop is this hot pot joint that’s totally worth checking out.

If you can handle the heat then the spicy broth is definitely one you need to try. I love a me a little bit of spice but my tolerance isn’t all that high. I had to switch to the tomato broth halfway through which is exactly why these double flavour soup pots are sooo handy!

Venue is also very grand with plenty of seating indoors. Great place to visit if you’re going in a big group.

one of the best hot pot in the CBD! This place is conveniently located just by the tram station so going to and from isn’t a problem. Their meat selection is top notch where you can order from lamb to beef to veggie even duck blood and salted egg lamb. their soup base is really something I would come back for. spicy chilli and passion fruit chicken are 2 of my favourites! their desserts are a little heavy but still great if eaten in moderation.

What an amazing hotpot feed! 🔥 Loved their lantern-filled interior and friendly hospitality. I had their delicious bone broth as a base and ordered some stand-out dishes such as their beef with black truffle, the handballs mix and the chopped shrimp. Definitely order their fish mince with roe, it is presented so beautifully and so realistically (so real it seems it can swim into the soup!) I'm definitely coming back to try their other soup bases and quality proteins 💖

My love for hot pot is no secret. Despite stagnant wages and rising prices, my passion for dining out remains unwavering!

At Tan Hotpot (in Melbourne CBD), there are currently exciting promotions include choosing 1 out of 4 in the Open Prosperity Seal:
- Free pot base, half price base, $20 off, or 12% off discount on the entire bill.
- Share on social media for additional complimentary soft drinks and M9 Wagyu.

these promotions run until the end of March 2024.

The traditional Sichuan-style hot pot creates a delightful atmosphere with its enticing aroma. The friendly staff adds a touch of charm by wishing us "good luck" when putting in the pot base.

Now, let's dive into the delicious highlights⬇

Pot Bases: The spicy base with added herbal tea is nice, while non-spicy options like passion fruit and tomato are delightful. The hot pot ingredients are abundant.

their shrimp dumplings and shrimp slices shine, especially in tomato broth – my absolute favorites.

Other standouts include Egg yolk dough sticks, thousand-layer tofu, hot pot noodles (cook instantly) etc.

The new M9 is excellent, cooking up soft and tender. Dipping it in sesame sauce adds an extra layer of delight.

One of the best Chinese hotpot spots in Melbourne. We loved everything we ordered, especially the passion fruit chicken soup base — highly recommended! It tasted a bit unusual at first but became addictively appetising. Enjoyed the ox tongue and duck blood jelly as well. The sour plum juice was a perfect complement to the meal.

Trying something different at @tanhotpot. Already a good time and we hadn't even started! A first for both dad and I broadening our city horizons one piece of duck blood jelly at a time.

Had the best time cooking our own noods, beef, and mushrooms. It was learn as you go but I was ok with it, fully getting into the serve your own sauce station and mix and matching flavours to items ordered.

Like rips in your jeans you pay more to cook your own food but hey when in a hot pot you do it right!!

Soup base: The traditional spicy soup base was spicy yet flavoursome. It comes with a few slices of duck blood jelly, quail eggs and dried bean curd already. Also had the passional fruit chicken soup base as the inner pot and it was a very nice compliment to the spicy hotpot as it balances out the spiciness and good for cooking veggies etc where you don’t want to absorb all the chilli oil. Would recommend getting the duo hotpot so you can try two soup bases at once.

Hotpot sauces: A range of condiments and sauces to choose from for $3.8pp. The highlight is their sesame oil in a can on the table, alongside garlic, peanuts, green onion and coriander. It balances out the spiciness of the hotpot and added good flavour and crunch to the meat.

Hotpot food: good selection and range. Items all tasted fresh. Could get expensive if you want more variety and options.

Service: very attentive staff who explained the menu clearly to us as first timer but also refilled our soup multiple times without asking.

Bonus: at the time of the review, they had a dinner promotion where you spend over $130 (which we did for two people) and post a photo on social media, and you get free flow of beers! Which went really well with spicy hotpot!

Tan hotpot boasts high quality ingredients served in your favourite Sichuan soup flavours. Famously known for Melbourne’s only ‘duck blood tofu’ hotpot, it has an eclectic range of giblets, offal, and rare mushroom varieties (hello morels). If this isn’t your vibe (sadly like moi limited palate), then they also have your usual hotpot staples including sliced meats, seafood, and fresh vegetables.

We went for their bone broth and tomato soup bases and I can’t stop thinking about how GOOD the tomato soup was. It had lots of aromats and veggies in the broth itself so the flavour was really driven by natural ingredients. Lucky for us, they also had a New Year special on their hotpot bases - 30% off until the end of Jan (so get on it)!

The sliced meat and veggies were just so fresh, it came out so juicy and delicious after cooking it in the broth - We felt that the quality was one of the best we’ve seen across the city. I would highly recommend ordering the fried glutinous rice balls - my favourite so far across all the hotpot spots in Melbourne.

PSA, in addition to 30% off hotpot bases, they also offer any 10 hotpot bases for $99. If you share a photo of your food on the socials, you’ll also get a complimentary dessert bowl for each diner (Issa gift that keeps on giving)!

Thank you for the generous hospitality and incredible service, you will catch us back soon!
