My partner and l stayed at Red Cow guesthouse via Airbnb. We had a completely different experience to those before us. We only spent several hours here. We based our stay on the reviews on Airbnb. This is our experience. The check in process was simple however the front door didn’t lock and we were greeted by a house and front door that was filled with cobwebs. We had to contact the host to fix the front door because it wouldn’t lock. That was fine they had a few things to do before they were able to come out to the house.

We expected a clean home. We understand it was a farm and that the hosts are busy running a farm however we didn’t expect to find a house filled with flying insects, dirty toilet bowls, a pantry filled with flies and stick jars, stained and dirty mattresses and mattress protectors and the front door and house filled with cobwebs. The house looked neglected.

We knew the house didn’t have an air conditioner however we were only able to open one window because there weren’t any fly screens on any of the other windows. When we did open the windows insects came into the house because of the overgrown garden. We didn’t have any insect spray to get get of those insects.

Linen was found with the hot water service in a cupboard in the hallway stored with a mop and a micro fibre broom. This prompted us to check the linen on the beds and to check the mattresses. All 3 mattresses in the house seemed like they were decades old. They were dirty and stained and so were the mattress protectors.

The back room with the sliding door with the daybed was disgusting. We didn’t even venture out there. When we pulled up to the house we weren’t sure we were at the right place because the garden was so overgrown it didn’t look anything like the pictures on Airbnb.

We have travelled the world and as l said we understand it’s a farm however the house should be clean ready for guests. It was a shame we wanted a farm experience. We were looking forward to staying here. We had to ask for Airbnb’s assistance to obtain a refund for our money after we discovered the flexible cancellation policy. Erwin at Airbnb was excellent and we did receive a full refund however we had to prove our findings with photos and videos. We sincerely hope this doesn’t occur to anyone else.
