Dr David Melsom

Dr Melsom did an amazing job on repairing both of my biceps tendon ruptures. The first in 2017 which it fully recovered with a grip strength of 71 (amazing) and my more recent of October 2022, now fully healed & back to normal.

Both scars are tiny & barely noticeable.
The attention & care was outstanding.
His team of ladies at his practice are also among the most amazing, caring & helpful people I’ve ever met. From emails to empathy & everything in between they are truly lovely & deserving of all possible praise i can give them & more.
I highly & without hesitation would & do recommend Dr Melsom & his team to anyone requiring his services.

I had carpel tunnel surgery on both my hands at once. Dr Melsom did an amazing job. I have had no pain since the I woke from the procedure. My hands are great. Dr Melsom operated on my husband's bicep recently and did an amazing job. Dr Melsom's amazing secretary (Liv) was so prompt at getting him in for the surgery within such a short time frame. She was informative, efficient, friendly and professional. I am so impressed with the job that Dr Melsom did, and thrilled that my husband's arm will be back to normal functioning in a few months time. They also have a great team of allied health physios that do a great job with the rehabilitation process.

I was very lucky, my GP referred me to Dr Melsom for bilateral carpel tunnel.
Dr Melsom made the experience so easy, I had my first surgery on my right wrist on the 19th of April followed by my second surgery on the 3rd of June.
Both surgeries went perfectly, recovery time was minimal and I ​was well looked after before and after my surgeries.
Dr Melsom and his team were very responsive if I had questions or queries.
I cannot thank Dr Melson enough, he has literally changed my life, I now have full functioning hands.

When I woke up after my shoulder surgery with Dr Melsom I could feel that everything was set right and my healing could begin knowing that everything was reset as it should be. When you hear that bone crunching sound in your shoulder as you hit the deck off your mountain bike you have no idea of the damage you’ve just done, but know that getting the right care and expertise will be crucial to a good and long term recovery. I put full trust in Dr Melsom and the wonderful operating theatre staff at the Wesley Hospital, followed up by the team at AllSports Physiotherapy. Today is two months since my surgery, I have full movement back in my shoulder and am regaining confidence and strength in it daily. Thanks and blessings to all involved, especially Dr Melsom with his calm and clear demeanour.

After sustaining an injury to my shoulder from a car accident, I had a complex and uncommon issue with my shoulder that required surgery. Dr Melsom was fantastic. His work was neat and he took great care in deciding the appropriate treatment. My shoulder is now back to normal. Recovery was not too long either. Carissa the practice manager was friendly and very helpful. I can highly recommend Dr Melsom and his team.

Dr Melsom was exceptional in both the surgical outcome he achieved with my bilateral carpel tunnel release surgery and his patient and kind manner throughout the pre & post-operative process. Despite a rapid deterioration in both hands' sensitivity, dexterity and strength Dr Melsom's surgery resulted in a full recovery with minimal down time. He was thorough in his pre-op examination, answering all questions to ensure I understood the process & recovery, responsive with additional questions and engaged in the post-op recovery to ensure the best possible outcome. I couldn't recommend Dr Melsom more highly!

After fracturing my collarbone in 5 places during a game of rugby, I was advised it may be best to have it surgically repaired and was referred to Dr Melsom. I am very happy I was referred to Dr Melsom, as he took great care in his work and performed a very neat fix. Recovery wasn't too long, but Dr Melsom and his team were more than helpful throughout the whole process. I can highly recommend Dr Melsom and his team.

Always kind, courteous and professional, Dr Melsom has been wonderful! After a couple of bad falls in 2017, he helped me straighten out my two very deformed fingers. I was quite naïve when I initially saw Dr Melsom and did not realise I should have seen a specialist soon after the accident. Six months had expired after the initial injury and by this time, scar tissue had already developed. He explained everything clearly and made me feel very comfortable. Dr Melsom sent me immediately for xrays and booked an operation within a few days. The operation went smoothly and hand therapy followed. This has allowed me to continue working . Recently, another two fingers on my other hand had torn ligaments. After much hand therapy, both my hands have mended well and am able continue my sewing which is a really important hobby for me in my retirement. I can't recommend David highly enough.

Dr melsom operated on me in april 2016.supraspinatus was detached and 40mm retracted,infraspinatus torn 2/3's.
Other surgeons told me a life change is in order,different job and no more gym.dr melsom told me that if he reattaches the tendon which he was confident he will,it would depend only on me how well i recover.thats all i needed to hear.feb 2017 i was back at work as a plumber,never quit the gym,worked hard with elastic bands during my recovery and had in the end a 1% impairment.dr melsom is a kind person that expains the process ahead in detail.i felt in the best hands possible and when i woke up from surgery and dr.melsom had that satisfied smile on his face i knew the road ahead would be up.i owe him a lot and would highly reccomend him to people with similar injury to mine.if you willing to put in the hard yards for your recovery he will give you the best basis to do so

I had a fantastic experience with Dr Melsom and his team, from the initial consultation through to the post-operative care and follow-up. Both of my carpal tunnel surgeries were very positive experiences and I highly recommend Dr Melsom.

I recently contracted a Dupuytren's contracture in my right hand and was referred to Dr David Melsom for treatment. I found David easy to talk to about the issue, and we discussed both surgery and another option that involved injecting Xiaflex directly into the cord. We agreed to try the injection which worked partially but not completely. I've since discovered that exercising the hand vigorously each day has tended to suppress the cord, and stop it from growing any further, which has helped the flexibility. I will see David again in a few weeks to discuss further.

Had significant pain in my wrist and hand, He diagnosed it straight away and I had surgery, it feels brand new. Now i can get back on the rugby field

Twelve months ago Dr Melsom performed a right reverse total shoulder replacement on me.Absolutely wonderful result.I can now do every day tasks (previously I had no strength in my arm to sweep, hold a jug of water or carry a a shopping bag of groceries.I am pain free, have more energy, plus a good degree of movement. I very highly recommend & thank Dr Melsom.

Dr Melsom and his team looked after me with my shoulder reconstruction, from my first visit right through to my last his bedside manner was extremely professional. I would definitely recommend him.

Thank you Dr Melsom, I suffered what a lot of people thought would be a career ending injury, as well as me, but thanks to him and 2 surgeries later, I have great movement back, not 100%, but close enough, I am very greatful to him and all his effort to repair a 12 out of 10 difficulty fractured shoulder, occured when I fell and hit a wall with with it, thank you again for your great work

He gets referals from local government workers compensation. To assess injuries and my rsi was interpreted as some alcoholic disease.The manipulation my pinky finger has been subjected to having been shaped around a broom handle (I am a council cleaner) for 15 years sweeping footpath surfaces was not the cause apparently.
