Soul Surf School

We had an amazing experience!
We did the two day group classes, we started as beginners so they took us specially to a beach that would work better for that which was great. We had Levi as our surf teacher and he was supper supportive, in the beginning helping us catch the waves and after learning the basics we started catching our own waves. We learned a lot in just one session.
The next day there was not enough people to make up a group but they had the class just for us any way. We got Levi again, which was great and we got learn even more things in a different beach.
Overall, we had an amazing time. Levi was an amazing teacher, he is encouraging and very nice. He also gave us some tips about Byron Bay.

I had a fantastic half day group surf lesson with this crew. It was a terrific way to meet some new people and have a blast. We took their bus to a quiet beach last Lennon head, saw some dolphins and surfed almost constantly for over two hours. The trip there and back was about 20 minutes each way, and we rinsed in a lake at the end.

That was such a great experience. The teachers take you to the perfect place for beginners. They explain enough, but not too much and they really help you to catch your first waves. If you want to learn surfing, that is the place to go. Small groups, enough interaction and a lot of help and affirmation.

Really good experience. I wasn't sure I'd enjoy surfing, but my first lesson was great! Jonny noticed I was having difficulty controlling the board and making errors, so he invited me over and gave me some constructive feedback, which improved my technique massively and allowed me to progress. We also went for a post-surf dip in a tea tree lake. Thank you Soul Surf!

I booked a half day, very friendly staff! We were split up into smaller groups so we could get more personal feedback and more wave time. I was in Clems group and he was amazing, super positive and enthusiastic and very attentive! Being a first time surfer I’m very happy with the outcome of my lesson.

Had a great experience with both a beginners group lesson and a private lesson afterwards. A very professional crew explains everything you need to know in detail and I had a really fun time learning to surf. I especially liked the solo lesson with Will.

It was our very first time surfing and we ended up with a private lesson with surf teacher Alex. We had such an amazing time and loved how he easily explained the theory and had so many great and personal advices in the water. At the end we reached our goal of catching and surfing the first waves and felt so good and happy. It was definitely worth the money and we recommend the soul surf school to everyone. We loved that Alex also gave us ideas of things to do around Byron and also about our upcoming time in Indonesia. Next time in Byron we will for sure come back! Thank you so much!!! :)

Loved the vibe from everybody at Soul Surf. Booked a lesson for our group of seven first-time surfers and we all had a great time. Our instructor, Alex, was really friendly and encouraging. He offered great tips and had all of us up on our boards in no time. I would definitely recommend Soul Surf for an unforgettable experience at Byron Bay.

We had a private lesson with Angel who was superb! The lesson was very well structured and by the end we achieved our goal of catching our own wave. I also had so much more confidence in the water by the end of the session. We are travelling around Australia and it’s given us the foundation we need to keep renting boards and practising on our own. It’s well worth the money and I would highly encourage anyone to book with Angel and Soul Surf School.

Me and my friends booked surfing lessons with Soul surf for 3 days. That was the perfect amount of time as we could observe some improvement ! The instructors were all kind, patient, and encouraging. We appreciated that a photographer was there to snap pictures to have memories of this great experience !!

My two kids had a lesson with Alex and they absolutely loved it! He was really patient, enthusiastic and got them surfing on their first lesson ever. They came away loving surfing and we have rebooked another lesson. The team at soul surf were great to deal with as well.

Loved my experience with Soul Surf! River is an incredible surf coach, I did multiple lessons with him and am now a confident surfer! Highly recommend!!

Soul surf are friendly and approachable. They were flexible when I changed my lesson due to the onshore wind for my initial lesson. I had an early morning private lesson with a surf instructor named ‘Alex’. He took us to Tallows which was quiet and chilled. I have surfed a few times before but was nervous and just needed to get back in the water and build some confidence. Alex was very reassuring and empathetic, he taught at a good pace and gave constructive feedback and pointers. For now, I’m back practicing but when I need another lesson, I’ll be going back to Soul surf and will request Alex. Highly recommend this surf school and instructor.

Alex was the most incredible surf teacher, very patient and knowledgeable. He offered great feedback to help improve my surfing technique as a beginner but also to my friends who were more advanced. In a few sessions our confidence and form increased so much. I highly recommend.

Surfing with instructor Kirsty was so much fun. The beat teacher out there. I caught a bunch of waves, 2 of which were the best in my life. Excellent instruction on technique and wave selection. Can’t recommend it enough!

Kirsty was utterly incredible. We've had a lot of instructors but this was the best by far. She helped us so much. She had a great, visual way of explaining the intricacies of the ocean too. She was such a great communicator and so much fun my face hurt from laughing so much. We'll definitely be back.
