Fishmongers Byron Bay

We had the share box for 2 for a quick takeaway dinner, which was both tasty and substantial.

2 fish, 2 whole prawns, 2 potato cakes and 4 calamari rings. All very tasty, well fried and crispy even after the 15 mins it took us to get home. The thick cut chips were delicious. It also came with 2 oysters which tasted reasonably fresh. The presentation of the box was a real surprise as it was rather aesthetically pleasing. The food was adorned with sweet potato chips which was a little soggy but these may have suffered from the journey home and may be better enjoyed on the spot. Comes with a trio of sauces, which is convenient for those without their own.

Cost $60 which is priced higher than more casual competitors in other towns but the food here was certainly more gourmet than your average fish and chip joint and somewhat reasonable for the price when compared to other restaurants in Byron.

The signage up the front of the restaurant highlights their fresh and more upscale fish and chip options priced at $31, and then in much smaller font they list their regular fish and chips at $21. The $31 option is particularly eye catching and perhaps a deterrent for those looking for something a little more affordable - do try to take a look at the whole menu before making up your mind!

The bucket for 2 was almost too much but very tasty.

Came across this place by accident on a walk through Byron, and were very glad we did. Had the tasting basket for 2, and we could barely finish! Perfectly cooked, fresh, golden fish and chips, not at all greasy. The potato scallops and battered prawns were equally well done. Whole heartedly recommend!

The fish tacos and tempura veggies were EXCELLENT, so fresh and not oily at all, enough for my mum and I to split for dinner, and very well priced. Thanks!

Everything was perfect when we dined in here. The food came at once and was a good portion for two people. We tasted a bit like a fusion mix between Asians and Aus. Very good.

Fresh and tasty fish tacos I've had in a long time.

Laneway dining atmosphere reminds us of Melbourne. Grilled fish is excellent and the sweet potato ribbon fries are out of this world. Love their house fries too. Crunchy outside and delicious soft inside. Recommend everyone at least try them when in Byron bay.

Honestly, the best fish and chips I have ever tried. I loved it so much I returned before leaving Byron! First time we got a box for 2. The batter was thin and crispy, the grilled fish was super tasty. The oysters were wonderful, and prawns very gentle and full of flavour. They also serve real tasting and looking potatoes on the side. Second time it was a delicious super loaded fish wrap, presented beautifully on a wood paddle. Always a great service from the ladies with a friendly smile, and I am loving a slightly tucked away location still a minute from the Main Beach. Will be back each time I am in Byron.

Lovely little spot for a perfect lunch. Beautiful food, barramundi and grilled prawn, salad and tempura vegetables, top off with a locally produced gin and finger lime drinks. Highly recommended

Ordered the grilled calamari as a side. King prawns and fish tacos for main. Don't forget the home made chips! Yum!

Best fish in town at Fish Mongers - Byron Bay - fresh, cooked to perfection and my Signature Salad was amazing. The staff were outside handing out testers so in the 45 mins I sat outside 99% that tried came inside and ordered.

Best fish and chips in Byron, prices reflect the quality! It was excellent, proportions great and the singing staff were a treat, shows the love it there. Will definitely visit it again.

The fish tacos and wrap are bangin! You’ll find them down an ally way, they’re located closer to the beach and right next to the big pub

We sat outside in the laneway which was really lovely. Cool night but very pleasant. My hubby had Byron Box and I had prawns with tempura veg. Very good meal. Very friendly service.

Cannot visit Byron without going in and ordering the octopus with rice! Love it. Everyone I’ve told to go there is never disappointed!! Wish there was one in Brisbane.

Excellent eatery! Friendly service and great tunes. Loved the Fresh Off the Boar Barramundi with homemade chips! The potato cakes are a must have as well - perfectly crunchy and can be enjoyed in their own right!

Undoubtedly the best fish and chips in the area. And I've tried them all! They actually make proper chips from real spuds. None of this frozen rubbish. I make a special trip from the Hills to eat there. Bloody marvellous.

The best fish dishes I have ever eaten. The staff were also very nice and fun to talk to. If I come back to Byron Bay, this restaurant will be my first stop.
