New Kreta Ayer Ashfield

This place is currently hidden behind a construction site but it's worth the climb through for the food, especially the crab.

The Singaporean chilli crab was really delicious. You can have it spicy or non-spicy. We got it non-spicy for the kids so I'll need to come back to try the spicy version. The crab meat was juicy and sweet. And the fried buns that we ordered with it was soft and fluffy inside.

The other dishes were ordered were delicious too but the crab was definitely the highlight.

Kreta Ayer in Ashfield has always been our go-to place for good quality, reasonably-priced Singaporean food. Some of our favourite dishes to order include the Hainan chicken, the seafood fried rice, and the ngoh hiang.

It is a good Asian restaurant which involved the food from different countries. The price is reasonable and they also have low price lunch special with lemon tea which is my favorite drink! The environmentand room temperature is good, service is good. The food is delicious. There is no reduction in food sizes for lunch special.

It’s a great experience and the crab is delicious. This is our 4th visit to Kerta Ayer Ashfield . We really enjoyed the crab dishes with the delicate flavours and succulent meat ( black pepper, the Singapore chili crab and the traditional nyonya curry crab) were awesome 🤩 . YOU have to go! It’s 100% worth it . The staff( Gary) were really friendly and helpful, the food we ordered arrived on time and it’s absolutely amazing. I strongly recommend it to everyone!!

Had the BEST SINGAPORE BLACKPEPPER CRAB EVERRR. So tasty and filling. I couldn't believe the flavours in it. Had to lick the plate dry, it was that tasty. 😍

Authentic delicious Hainanese chicken and Ipoh chicken noodle soup! Great ambiance and service!

I had the lunch special today: $14.90 for a large bowl of laksa with hainan chicken on the side, along with iced lemon tea. The laksa was definitely above average and also included a boiled egg and several pieces of tofu. Hainan chicken was tasty, although slightly overcooked for my taste. The lemon iced tea was perfect for the weather.

V A L U E is exceptional for Ashfield and the surrounding suburbs. It is VERY rare to see this combination of value and tastiness in 2024.

I will be back to try the other dishes.

After a very long time, Kreta Ayer has proven to be consistently one of the greatest restaurants at Ashfield. I'm really happy it is still open and I hope it will be for years to come. :D

Singapore crab and salted egg crab is the best, you cannot find anywhere else better than this place

Strongly recommend the hot pot with fish and taro! The soup is very fresh and the White colour of fish soup means it's pretty advanced cooking in my diet culture. The ice snack is southeast style.

Kreta Ayer Ashfield is now open and they change management n name too, now known as The New Kreta Ayer Ashfield 新牛车水, they upgrade The Restaurant and also the Menu too. The lady boss was very very friendly to us, and the headchef provide amazing and delicious dishes too. Cant wait to visit again. Awesome!!!

Their dishes are all delicious, the prices are quite cheap, and the service is excellent. It is really a highly recommended restaurant.

The best Laksa I've ever had in Sydney!
Absolute steal for $14.90 and it comes with a drink?! The Laksa was flavorful and rich with seafood, and the prawn was meaty and delectable. 9/10 would come again!!! 😍

Have been here multiple times for special occasions and dinner. Never disappoint with food portion. Pricing is very reasonable for their seafood. Taste is immaculate as well.

We had a delicious meal here, ordering 2 Singaporean crab, amongst many other dishes. Everything was tasty, service was reasonable, and loved the passionfruit tea.

No fuss, straight up good tasting honest food. Fair pricing for chili crabs, taste is really good too. I remember it tasting the same as what I ate in Singapore! BRB is the term i would use since I want to go right back there for another meal.

Best seafood laksa I have had in Sydney so far. Weekday special is a steal! Must try.
