Kay Japanese Restaurant

I've been coming here when I can since I was a teenager - before I even moved to Sydney! Kay Japanese Restaurant has consistently stayed as a staple in my list of favourite places to eat. It has a warm, family-style diner feel to its interior and its cuisine. Prices that are easy on the wallet, homely food and an extensive menu with dishes you can't find at any other Japanese restaurant. Pictured is the Tonkatsu Doria (Half Size) with Miso Soup priced at $15.70, it was well worth every cent. I recommend trying something new every time you come here since no matter what you get - you'll enjoy it regardless.

Chill music, kind servers/chefs, great prices, good portions. What more could you want. This place serves authentic japanese food and even offers half size dishes if you aren't super hungry but still want a good meal. Food came out nice and hot, using fresh ingredients! Will definitely return.

Delicious food, reasonable portions, and affordable prices. I like their efficient touch screen menus and half-sized options. I’ve visited this restaurant several times and they never disappoint. I appreciate their fast service and enjoy the soft ambient music they play. I always feel relaxed eating here.

Food is excellent, service is very good as well. Would highly recommend the tonkatsu don!

Ordered the Unagi Doria , grilled eel with rice for the second time in my life, because it’s just so incredibly delicious.
Also had the scallop pancake, and chicken curry. Heart warming foods.
Highly recommend the Calpis water, sweet and refreshing.

This place is fantastic! Amazing Japanese food done to perfection. I love how you order from the touch screen as it makes choosing your food much more exciting. A little hard to get to the restaurant but will always recommend it. They also serve half dishes so if u can’t decide between two dishes just get one half serve of each! The best of both worlds

Such a great place to try out different variety of food. They have mixed Japanese and Western cuisine. All taste really good. They have half-size for most items, but great portions, so even better for those that are indecisive of what to get. Decent pricing as well.

Great food! Awesome menu and service! Price is so good for the quality 😀 I am amazed how much cheaper it is comparing to food court price these days! Definitely come back regularly in future!

Very good (and filling) Japanese-style food. We had a spicy Tantan Ramen and a Chicken Katsu Curry Udon.

You order food on iPads at each table.

The restaurant was rather quiet (7pm on a Wednesday) and there was strange circus-like music playing that grew on us!

Tried this place for the first time and was blown away by the massive portions and efficient service. I got the chicken katsu curry, and the chicken was so crispy, and the rice was so fluffy! Don't even get me started on how affordable it was, too!
Will definitely be returning :D

Cheap eat. Nice family operated restaurant not Japanese owned anymore but if they did good there is no complaints. Love the idea of half side food. We came this evening and one boy was helping his family serving. Recommended.

It was my first time trying this restaurant. I loved how they have the option of half dish available which makes it so fun to try a range of variety. They come in reasonable quantity. I had ordered a rice dish and spicy miso ramen which was just yum! I will surely be back again.

Very affordable with a great variety of dishes on a variety of sizes. Service is great, friendly staff and quick service. A regular favourite with ample seating for any sized group. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner.

Really good feed, value for money, tasty & fresh. Service was really good and the atmosphere was quiet and chilled. Couldn’t fault it.
Especially appreciated the ‘half size’ menu for those with a smaller appetite.
