Abhorrent treatment of customers! Some people op shop as a choice, others are truly struggling and would never ask for charity. Volunteers should be aware that they have no idea who they are speaking to.

A church op shop should be a safe place free from judgement and shame. During a recent fill a bag for $5 sale several volunteers were sitting in the shop watching every item it's customers were putting into their $5 bags. They were questioning them why they were choosing multiple sizes. My friends and I always pick up something for each other if we can help each other out. We are all different sizes.

It was a fill a bag sale for Winter clothing. I watched people put 3 winter items in their bag and the bag looked full. The week before they had a $1 an item sale.

The volunteers were then calling out and publicly shaming customers by yelling out "You there, your bag is full!" Other shoppers would then look at them. These customers would then rush to the counter to pay their $5 and skulk out red faced and ashamed.

Luckily this time I decided to look around before accepting a bag to fill. I was too scared to partake in the sale. What was the correct amount of items allowed in a bag before being publicly humiliated? After seeing others being chastised I walked out without making a purchase. I used to be a regular here. I will never walk through the door again. No one should be spoken to like that, least of which in a church.
