Beautiful place to relax and get in touch with some nature. Highly recommend returning in the evening with some fruit to feed the possums. They're very friendly, and love a good scratch. A torch is also a great idea for a night venture to the sink-hole.
Great for photos.. day and night!

This is a beautiful place of geological wonder. You can take nice photos here. Our kids enjoyed running around exploring the nooks and crannies with a beautiful backdrop of ferns and flowers. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area or passing by.

This is set in a lovely park with a nice little cafe run by a lovely lady.
It's quite a size. As long as you are reasonably mobile you should be able to access this. Take time to read about the history of the place. Entry is free.

Amazing, out of this world, place, available for a visit free of charge, 24 hours a day! Just this place alone is a reward for a drive to Mt Gambier! The visit does involve stairs, would be difficult for people with knee problems, there is probably an equivalent of 5 stair flights

The Umpersston Sinkhole is entrancing with its surreal allure, offering a distinctive view both from the summit looking down and the base looking up.

This site perfectly captures the essence of Mount Gambier and is a must-visit tourist attraction, standing out as one of the premier places to explore. Ensure you don't overlook this genuinely unforgettable experience! The sinkhole and its adjacent gardens are not only awe-inspiring but also well-maintained and free! Every corner of the sinkhole invites exploration, consistently surprising visitors. It's a visit worth embracing, making it an ideal spot for capturing memories with family, friends, and loved ones.

Beautiful sink-hole. The gardens are stunning. Please don't feed the possums (there are signs posted asking tourists not to). Definitely worth the visit.

This truly is a wonderful place to visit. Nature created the sinkhole & man has nurtured it to create a spectacular garden which cannot be missed. Watch closely on the steps heading down & you may see some possums walking along the wall edges. For this reason, understandably, no pets allowed in the sinkhole. Very busy when we went because a wedding was beginning and guests were beginning to pour in. The noise from the drone buzzing around for the wedding was super annoying & spoilt the tranquility of the garden. That aside, it's a place that must not be missed!

We visited the place on a public holiday and it was filled with people. The place is clean and beautiful. There is no charge to enter the sinkhole, and you don't need to book anything in advance. A must visit when in Mt Gambier.

Must Visit!! Truly natures beauty. There are some places where words aren't enough to discirbe the beauty. It must be seen in real life. When visiting Mount Gambier, do visit this. We started our trip by visiting this place as the first spot. There are few standing areas to take pictures and observe/enjoy the beauty. There is a garden at the start, just near carpark for family picnic spots, kids play area at the rear of the sink-hole. Do visit when the weather is quite nice and sunny.

Beautiful place! We travelled from Melbourne to SA and of course we had to visit Umpherston Sinkhole in Mt Gambier ☺ just FYI for the people who travel with their fur babies, you cannot take your dogs down to the sinkhole! I was in awe of its natural beauty - Shame that it was a cloudy day however still amazing🌿🌴🌷💐

Great spot close to the heart of Mt Gambier. Lots of car parks available at the Park that also provides areas for a picnic.

Short walk to sink-hole with views from the rim. Steps down into the sink-hole, which is worth the effort. Better views of the hole, the gardens & water feature.

Free activity.

Gorgeous place especially those impressive vines! If the local council permits, I reckon this is a good place for a wedding. Beautiful garden and a must-visit in town. No admission fee. Free parking available and you can enjoy picnic at the allocated area. You can bring your pets as well.

It is such a gorgeous cave garden which is built from a natural sinkhole by James Umpherston.

The garden is well-maintained and beautifully landscaped. We were amazed with big areas with a lot of climbing plants. The vines are really long and cover up the nice rock formations and the walking paths, give us a cool and tranquil vibe.

There are a lot of parking slots around and a short distance to the garden.

We visited around 2-3PM which had harsh sunlight. I think there will be much better lighting and feeling when visiting the garden in the morning.

Umpherston Sinkhole is a truly spectacular and beautiful cave garden. There's convenient parking next to the park, making it easy to access. The expansive park and the sinkhole itself are highly picturesque, though you should watch your step on the somewhat slippery steps leading down into the sinkhole. But once you're inside, the sinkhole itself is absolutely stunning!

So pretty. I'd love to see it on a rainy day with water cascading down the sides

The place is totally rare and is like a time machine that takes you through all the eras it took to create this mighty formation. It is a bit humid so be prepared.
