The Terraces

Loved this place on KI over looked American River. Has a bbq for 2 out on the terrace . My only complaints the man bed is too small for a tall person and the little hot stove they had there didn't work well. We were lucky for we had family staying in the one next to us and their stove worked not great but at least we got to cook. Other then that up to date rms and lovely view of the river

The wife and i stayed 2 nights, touring on a motorcycle, the accommodation was perfect for us, 2 bedrooms for just the 2 of us meant we could use the spare room to dump stuff. The kitchen had enough gear to make a meal, but we ate out.
The Mercure hotel is very close (albeit down a very steep road) and has a bar and restaurant, which we found to be fine, another restaurant is the Wanderers Inn, is just across the road. We didn't try it.
Very quite place, we stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and where the only ones staying there.

Awesome & Excellent - The best place on kangaroo island - the ocean views are amazing - perfect for a couple - had a great time cooking the BBQ and facilities are very nice . Would come back and stay at this place once again - highly recommend this place . Kangaroo Island is one of the best places in the world.

Myself and stacie really enjoyed it here AMAZING view on our balcony and the lady who we spoke to was very polite and told us some things to do till book in time which was really nice of her to do.

We stayed in studio 1 we found it comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Thankyou we were very happy.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights. We really enjoyed getting up while watching sunrise everyday morning. You can buy ingredient to cook here or eat out at the neighbor Glossy Black or Mercure

The view was beautiful. The unit was just what we needed. Very clean and bright with a terrific balcony to relax on. We would happily stay here again.

Neat and tidy little gem overlooking the river. Enjoyed reading my book and watching the birds with a glass of local wine.

Amazing view. The accomm itself isn't brilliant, but it did the job for my wife and son for three nights. The rooms are fairly small and the kitchen basic, but it did the job. It was our launchpad from which to see the north and eastern parts of KI.
Highlights of our stay in American Beach:
- The Oyster Farm Shop (omg good fresh seafood)
- The Fish Cannery Trail (at the end of Scenic Drive take the dirt road for 100m or so. Trail starts and follows contour of hill parallel to beach. Follow through bush about 1500m until you reach a bridge - we accessed the beach from here and walked back along it, was perfect. As it was spring, I discovered a few native orchids in the undergrowth.
- Prospect Hill and Pennington Bay or Stokes Bay - short drives away.

Overall, can't wait to go back to American River and would consider The Terraces again to a night or two if only for the breath-away view!

A great place to stay. Opted for the double and single bed option and was pleased to discover the apartment had two bedrooms. Modern facilities and very quiet location.

Lovely accommodation with fabulous views from private deck. Very welcoming .

Tidy, clean, well kept accommodation.

As I booked our trip a bit late, there wasn’t much choices. The place itself is actually better than I thought. Self contained cabins. 2 bedrooms. It’s on the small side but enough for the family. My biggest disappointment was the bed. Hard as rock. But if you prefer hard bed then it’s not too bad. Lots of mosquitos. Bring your repellent. Overall, it’s not bad.
