Delicious Japanese restaurant in the Gold Coast. The sashimi was fresh and delicious. The teriyaki beef and chicken was cooked perfectly. The staff was lovely and the service was great. Will defintely be coming here again next time.

Jan-24: went back and since April 2022 we went to Japan in dec-22, apr-23 and dec23... And can safely say the agedadhi tofu and the large sushi and sashimi boat are still amazing.

Apr-22: Amazing experience, having been to Japan 8 times in the past decade and staying in nice Ryokans and eating at 2 Michelin star restaurants, I can safely say I was blown away by itoshin (also much better than any meal I had in when I was in It 3 years ago).

There is free parking underneath (see my picture), the decor is really nice, very modern Japanese (think of a trendy casual fine dining restaurant in Ginza). The sake recommendations were spot on, we loved the koka gasanyu the most and ordered another glass (they serve it like they do in Japan).

Edamame: can't fault this, large serve and nice and hot
Agedashi tofu: overall best I've ever had in the world (better than Michelin star restaurants), I love the wholesomeness of the vegetables and the broth is just divine, it is not a very traditional agedashi tofu, but a superior one
Salmon tempura: best tempura I've had in QLD, not at all oily, very crunchy and the vegetables still taste like nature intended them to.
Large boat of sushi & sashimi: WOW, the presentation and quality of all the ingredients cannot be overstated, I love how there is a soy sauce for the sashimi, another soy for the roll sushi and a soy spray for the nigiri sushi. In detail:
Pickled ginger: really nice, i think they make their own
Scallops: I generally don't care for sashimi scallops, but this is the best I can remember eating in Australia
Ocean trout sashimi: unbelievable melt in your mouth umami flavours
Salmon sashimi: very fatty and so fresh, it was so fat I could barely hold them with my chopsticks
Spanish Mackerel sashimi: I normally find this to be just ok, but this was very nice and the best I have ever eaten in the world.
Sushi rolls: all were very tasty and the sushi rice amongst the best in Australia. I loved the Spanish Mackerel sushi roll the best.
Nigiri sushi: seared salmon nigiri was smoky, complex and fresh at the same time, it is was my favourite, the Spanish Mackerel nigiri was the best of the raw nigiri.

We are from Sydney and are planning to revisit next time we are in Brisbane or Gold coast. We really want to visit Mr Itoshin and Little Itoshin (all related).

Thank you for such amazing high quality food and such a memorable experience. I hope we can come back soon.

Itoshin is by far the highest quality Japanese restaurant I have been to. I would eat here every night if I didn't always go a bit overboard with the bill!

I've been a handful of times (hence the variety of pictures attached!) and every single time has been absolutely wonderful.

The sashimi and sushi is full of flavour and put together with such artistry. For me, it is by far the stand out part of my experience at Itoshin, setting the restaurant far above local competition.

Actually, it's the most stand out part alongside the sake! I am a huge fan of floral Junmai-daiginjo and was very impressed in my most recent visit by the Kubota sake from the Asahi Shuzo. It was recommended by a friend (it's from his hometown!) and it did not disappoint.

Since my wife brought me here for my birthday in 2021 it has been my benchmark for excellence in Japanese cuisine. Everywhere I go I can't help but compare it to here - my favourite - Itoshin!

Thank you so much for the magnificent work you do.

ご馳走様でした

It's the best Japanese Restaurant in Queensland. Owner/chef is a master of his food, I suggest going with his suggestions if your new to the cuisine. Is reasonably priced for what it is, top quality food thats made to be enjoyed 100%. My Suggestion is the Karaage Squid, some rolls, sushi and the duck breast/beef- but really I haven't had anything that I didn't think was good there........service is wonderful also. About $60/pp for a really good feed.

Authentic Japanese restaurant with nice owner. Best sashimi I’ve had on the coast, fresh and good cut. You won’t get any tough part that hard to chow, and can really taste the sweetness of different sashimi. Also, they have really good selections of sake to match our dishes. Highly recommend! Will definitely come back.

I had great expectations of the place before visiting since my brother raved about it. Safe to say, expectations were matched. 👏 For a party of 4, I think we over ordered but almost everything was cleaned off. For entree, we had the beef tataki and tempuras. I love the lightness of the tempuras which really was the essence of a good tempura. We also had a chef selection sushi boat, for $130, its really quite a value for the sheer size and quality of the sashimi. We also had a itoshin nabe hotpot set, the soup was to be honest quite bland but the ingredients were really fresh. Last but not least the dessert- black seasame ice cream. Kudos to the service crew, though there was a little difficulty in communication, he convinced me to get the chocolate mousse with ice cream instead of just the ice cream since in the mousse has a scoop of ice cream included. The service team was really friendly and approachable which made the experience even better than it already is. Strongly recommend to give this place a go!

Walking into this restaurant I felt like I was back in Japan down some side alley street in a well known neighborhood joint. The chefs here have excellent technique which we saw in the gorgeous and fresh sashimi platter (which is a great value) and also in the beef tataki and special teriyaki beef item of the evening. They even graciously accommodated our request to shift the portions of fish around in the sashimi platter, it's not always possible to change which fish you're receiving and it would have been fine if we weren't accommodated but they were okay with it and I was grateful. The tempura was also of note. A good tempura batter is light, stays crispy and doesn't cake on the items. We had tempura with the special teriyaki beef and it stayed crisp despite being in sauce and was light and flaky like some of the best tempura is. I also tried the aburi salmon sashimi and it was delectable. Favorite fish item was either the aburi kingfish or the aburi salmon. One small note, there was a small fish bone in one of the salmon sashimi pieces but only in one out of the four we received. It wasn't a dangerous size and salmon is hard to debone but just a heads up to always be careful with your sashimi anyways I guess. No worries there.

We saw another table order the prawn tempura (2pcs) and it looked delicious. Prawns we're sizeable and it came with tempura veggies and I was a little sad I didn't order it. Also sprung for the green tea ice cream and I am happy to report it is not overly sweet and tastes like high quality green tea should.

Servers were fast with requests, easy to chat with and smooth in all aspects. We heard that due to recent construction on Gold Coast Highway some customers hadn't been coming in but we found parking on the street just before the restaurant very easily. It was about 6pm on Thursday night for reference.

Would recommend making a booking. I will be back to try the nabe and sukiyaki which looked super delicious.

Thanks Itoshin for a lovely dinner.

Trust me! I am Japanese and this restaurant is the best Japanese on the Gold coast!
Best Sushi, Sashimi, tempura, panko fried stuff and many others! Even sake and drink menu is awesome! I have been to so many Japanese restaurants on the Gold Coast and I have to say this is the best! There are other funky places that people love but its not even proper Japanese!

Apparently the you her brother of yusuke san has opened restaurant in miami 2 years ago and he’s father has also opened a restaurant in same complex in Miami!

I seriously eat lots of sushi and i am truly fussy when it comes to sushi bit this is the best in QLD for sure!!!!

If you are looking for fresh authentic Japanese cuisine, then look no further! The entrance can be hard to find especially if you are a first time customer but once you find it, the restaurant opens up into a large open area with the bar to the right and an open kitchen next to it.

You can watch how the chef prepares the freshest of ingredients as he engages you in conversation.

Staff are very friendly. The restaurant is kept very clean and menu options are plentiful.

The only down side of the restaurant is that it is only opened 5 nights a week and isn't opened for lunch.

I highly recommend the dinner set as it offers the best value for money.

Had the set dinner menu which comprised of an entrée, a main and a dessert. Good value, good food, tastes yummy. I had the sashimi, beef teriyaki and green tea ice cream. Friendly staff and when we finished the meal, the owner came out, and she asked if everything was good.will come again.

Have been going to Itoshin for over 25+ years and dining there has never disappointed. One of the best consistent top quality Japanese cuisine with awesome friendly service without the airs. Great ambience and well priced for the quality.

Itoshin has really stepped up since the last time I came a few years ago. Pricey sashimi ship but justified by the presentation and quality of the sashimi. The sweet sauce that came with the calamari took me by surprise and it was one of the favourites for me (no pic unfortunately)
