Excellent Care from Dr. Kelly MacGroarty!!!
After suffering from shoulder pain for all most two years, I underwent arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder performed by Dr. Kelly MacGroarty in February 2024. I came to him based on a glowing recommendation from a friend who had successful surgery on both arms with Dr. MacGroarty.
What truly impressed me throughout the process was Dr. MacGroarty's thoroughness and clear communication. He meticulously explained all the potential side effects of the surgery and never pressured me towards an immediate operation for my torn rotator cuff. In fact, considering my age (68), he openly discussed about some possibilities of being on the cusp of when such surgery might not be the best course of action.
Empowered with this complete picture, I opted for surgery over living with the constant pain and limitations in my shoulder. Dr. MacGroarty then made sure I fully understood the importance of the demanding 6-to-9 month rehabilitation phase following surgery.
Adding to the positive experience, Dr. MacGroarty kindly accommodated my request for an early morning surgery. I was, in fact, his first patient that day.
I'm now out of the sling after wearing it for 45 days and have begun rehabilitation exercises. At the moment I am still feeling pain in my shoulder, elbow and fingers, and I am managing the pain with pain killers. Dr. MacGroarty and my physical therapist emphasised carefulness and patience due to my age, but I'm confident in a slow and steady recovery and feeling optimistic about regaining full use of my shoulder within a year.
Overall, I cannot recommend Dr. MacGroarty highly enough. His combination of expertise, clear communication, and genuine care for his patients makes him an exceptional orthopaedic surgeon.

Had a minor shoulder reconstruction in 2016, including a torn labrum which previously meant regular dislocations.

Dr Macgroarty did a phenomenal job. After 7 years I’ve not had a single issue, and I have full shoulder function (surfing, football, carrying kids around).

I also saw Dr Macroarty for a grade III MCL tear in 2021 and he elected NOT to operate, allowing full recovery instead without going under the knife.

I cannot recommend Dr Macgroarty highly enough.

I was in immense pain for a year and tried conventional treatment as well as physio for my right shoulder. In the end I was only left with no alternative but to consult with a specialist. Dr MacGroarty realized the urgency and the pain I was going through. Two weeks from the time of consultation I had the surgery. Within 8 weeks I slowly regained the use of my shoulder and have had uninterrupted sleep since. I have continued with the physio exercises and 6 months later I'm nearly back to normal and only have occasional tinge. It's true what they say surgeons are "God's gift" and I am elated with my nearly 100% full functioning shoulder.

I had a rotator cuff repair on August 18th 2021. I can't recommend Dr Kelly Macgroarty high enough. 6 months later I am ready to return to work. I have no pain and excellent movement. I should mention that I did physiotherapy with Luke Van Every ( The Shoulder Guy) who works in conjunction with Dr Macgroarty.

Dr Kelly Macgroarty is aTotally Amazing Surgeon.
He performed a total shoulder replacement on me and has returned my flexibility, movement and rotation back to doing normal things in life, e.g. back to playing Golf !
Brilliant, so happy, and he has wonderful bedside manner with empathy to patients, would highly recommend him for any shoulder surgery.
