Ashgrove General Practice

A great bulk billing practice close to the CBD with friendly doctors. I find their telehelth option really helpful. For a recent appointment, there was an issue with my appointment bulk billing, and the practice manager called me and provided excellent service in resolving the issue.

I would highly recommend this clinic to anybody. This is a practice made up of dedicated and caring receptionists, nurses and doctors. The staff will go above and beyond to attend to the requests of their patients and the doctors will go out of their way to ensure that their patients are taken care of. I have had first-hand experience of this and myself and my family have been a long-term patients of this clinic. We have not had one bad experience and every visit has been a pleasant one. Whenever we needed the additional assistance, the staff and doctors never failed to meet our needs. As a receptionist who has previously worked at other bulk billing clinics, I am amazed by the GPS here who do a phenomenal job of providing proper care to their patients instead of just rushing through appointments like I've seen at other places.

I was in incredible pain from a UTI and upon calling the clinic, a lovely staff member from the front desk showed incredible sympathy and to me needing medical help and booked me in as a new patient despite having the day booked out. She found a cancellation and offered me the spot.

I came in and waited a very brief amount of time before I was attended to by Sam who was professional, prompt and very helpful in even ordering a test to be done in case it was something more serious than a UTI.

I started attending the Ashgrove General practice when I found out I was newly pregnant. Throughout pregnancy, and now my newborn sons vaccinations and postpartum, Dr Saman Perera and the team have been fantastic. To the young girl at reception, the nurse & the Drs, I am so grateful that still a great medical practitioner team exists. Thank you guys! :) Very grateful for your care of myself + Harry. Alex

I would recommend this practice to anyone seeking medical help. I’ve been here a few times now and I’ve always been taken care of extremely well. The doctors are professional and go about things with extreme care. The receptionist lady is so pleasant to deal with. All in all a great place.

This practice is so good. We have been coming in for the past 6 months. Dr Perera has always been very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and well organised as well as the nurses and staff.

I’ve been a patient of this clinic since 2005. I’ve not had one bad experience. Both Dr Tennakoon and Dr Perera are fantastic doctors and I would go to them anytime. They will really go out of their way to accomodate you and help you with whatever you’re dealing with. The nurses and receptionists are also very friendly and make you feel very welcomed. As a patient who’s been here for nearly 20 years, I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone. Both me and my family have been under these doctors care and are very happy with high standard of care they provide.

Dr. Chandrasena is an incredibly patient, empathetic and understanding doctor. Going to the doctor about reproductive health is already daunting enough, having to see a male doctor is so scary personally and you feel like you won't be understood or listened to. But as soon as I saw this Dr, he listened to everything I said and asked really good inquisitive questions, and really covered all bases and didn't just jump to the pregnancy idea. He helped me find the issue promptly and I'm so grateful a male doctor is so switched on with female reproductive health. Even better is its bulk billed.

First time I booked my appointment last minute I thought great, I can get my prescription today, 2 and half hours after my appointment time I wasn’t so great full. I thought maybe it was just a bad day and I’ll try them again but this time a Telehealth call, the doctor rings me at 11.10am for a 1.10pm appointment? I didn’t answer knowing it would not be them, 2 hours early, I ring at 1.40pm and was told they’re running late they’ll call shortly, 3pm I receive e a call from a male reception telling me I missed my appointment and to reschedule, I said no I did not, and he laughed and said, “I have the wrong number, oops sorry.” I call back and the same male answers the phone oh yes yes she’ll call you at 3pm, 3.25pm I call u 15 times today and you do not answer and Deny’s my script as it is too hard due to the amount and needs to be verified by the Medicare in Canberra, then fails to escript me on request, too hard again, and says pick it up from our office, and hangs up. Where is the consistency and care? This was a female doctor to a practise I would never return too again.

After the owner and practise manager rang me the next day to apologise to me directly he fixed up my script and sent it to my phone, I'm glad they took accountability for the actions of other staff members.

In a post pandemic world where doctors won't even see you face to face anymore when sick, these guys have been amazing at actually providing care. Im very greatful to have found the practice.

Many doctors these days refuse to see even small children face to face if they are "symptomatic" despite having negtive covid tests. My one year old son has been here numerous times after being sick to get examined to ensure his lungs and ears are fine etc. The doctors and staff are so understanding and will always listen to my concerns and make sure they see my son and do the proper checks. We had in the past been turned away from multiple local clinics and only offered telehealth appointments to examine my sons condition. This to me is absurd and how small children end up in emergency rooms.

I appreciate their common sense approach and am grateful to have found the practice.

The Doctors here are very caring and understanding.They listen to what I need and they always do their best to meet my medication and other medical needs.The reception staff are excellent as well,always very polite and always very efficient.I would highly recommend this medical practice .Pete Griffin

This Clinic provides care of the highest quality. Dr Tennakoon and Dr. Perera are both caring and knowledgeable. The other staff members also make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this Clinic.

Dr Tennakoon is kind, caring, interested and enthusiastic. He listens. I do, and would recommend everyone to this clinic. His support staff have the same values, all kind, caring and empathetic. They always go out of their way to help you the best they can. I am so grateful to have found this doctor.

A beautiful handful of staff and doctors who are extremely kind and who do their best to treat whatever you are facing. I have been met with incredible service the few times I have been, and would recommend to anyone else.

Absolutely beautiful people there. Dr Chandrasena Tennakoon is very professional and friendly. He takes care of my family. He helped me during my Pregnancy. the staffs there are so friendly and caring. Every time we go there we feel happy and welcome. even we moved to Caboolture before, we still came to Ashgrove General Practice, because we have built a lot of trusts with them.

Edited my review from 1 to 5 stars. This business has long waits but its because its the only bulk billing centre around. Pls be patient with the staff as they seem pretty overwhelmed.

Lovely staff and good doctors.

The best doctor's office I have been to ever. They are always so friendly and understanding. After a decade of floating around gp to gp I think I have found a place to stick with.

Such a genuine, caring Dr as well as the reception desk staff Amila who wamrmly greeted me at the door with a mask as I had requested in case I was contagious. I would highly recommend Ashgrove General Practice if ever you need a doctor 😷
