Helmut's Haus

Lovely service from friendly staff, really interesting decor inside too. We were seated inside the carriage for our dinner. Yes, that’s right it was a carriage as in a train carriage.

Order the staple Pork Knuckle and German Butcher (I think that’s the name?) along with the Beef Goulash.

The beef goulash was super underwhelming. However the Pork Knuckle and Butcher place of pork belly, sausage, ribs were amazing.

My favourite was the ribs, though the pork knuckle probably takes a close 2nd.

Pro tip: As the place recently opened up, you will want to book in advance or risk waiting for a long time before dining. Also, the portions are quite big, you can easily get away with ordering 3 mains for 4 people.

This was our second visit to Helmut's Haus and my choice for a birthday dinner. The staff are lovely - especially Helmut himself! - and the prices are quite good. The food is a cut above, absolutely wonderful! The eating area itself is split between two old train carriages and an open bench dining area between. It's really gorgeous.
There was another party in the same carriage as us that had absolutely no regard for anyone around them (yelling and screaming across the table to each other and bellow laughing), but the staff were very happy to move us to the other carriage and help us carry our food there.
I highly recommend the platter - everything is good, but the schnitzel and the cheese kransky are transcendent!

Conveniently located in Bankstown Sports Club, "Helmut's Haus" is a great place to eat, with the funky railway carriages to dine in, it offers private dining for a small group. Great wait staff are polite, friendly and dress for the occasion. A great selection of delicious entrees and mains, all servings are generous portions. Easy and FREE parking make it an ideal choice when choosing to go out for the night

This week I had the pleasure of attending the reopening of helmuts haus at Bankstown sports club with my partner. What a menu !!!! The service and staff where amazing. Just some of then menu items we tried were the german feast platter, German pretzel , Wiener schnitzel

Five stars just for the service! It was New Year’s Eve and they were minutes from closing, but still allowed us in. The waitresses were fantastic, friendly, accommodating, they made sure we had drinks promptly and that everything was just to our liking. It really made my night, service like this is SO hard to come by these days. The food here is amazing, the portions are HUGE! They have the best soft pretzels and the potato kraut salad is deliciously tangy and unlike anything else, a must try for sure. Such a brilliant first impression, I’ll definitely be a returning customer. Thank-you!

An excellent food experience in the heart of Bankstown. The dishes are true examples of German/Oktoberfest comfort meals. The desserts are generous and the prices overall are reasonable given the quality and ingredients. The chef provided a very memorable meal and this restaurant gets my complete seal of approval. We had a dinner for three of us tonight and (being at Helmuth's the second time) we felt again absolutely well. The food was beautiful and the service second to none (thanks Anika!) So we will come back again!

The food and service was excellent, My family of 12 went there for dinner on saturday night and everyone was really happy. We all agreed that we will be going back. Thanks to all the wonderful staff at Hemuts.

The food was amazing, the waitresses were amazing, the venu is amazing. Only let down was drinks coming out after mains and leaving half behind cause we were ready to go.
