Dr Maxine Szramka is an incredible Rheumatologist. On each visit I am humbled and forever grateful for finding her and gaining more clarity and effective treatment after over a decade of facing health obstacles, adversity, and being in the unknown and seeing other specialists. She is genuine by nature, has attention to detail, is transparent and has the best intentions for me as a patient and my journey with my health and diagnoses. Cannot recommend her enough!

Maxine has an approach to pain management tailored to the needs I had. Her natural alternatives given were a godsend. Without her guidance and encouragement I would be still in great pain. I would recommend Maxine.

Dr Maxine and her staff in Ballina are amazing. I felt so welcome and so validated. Highly recommend her.

Booked an appointment for my mum who has been suffering from RA for over 17+ years, she finely felt like someone cared, They instantly requested a range of test that others would never get around to, SO thankful for a doctor that takes action for patients. With my mum having such poor quality of life for so long-- We finely have hope that my mum might have a chance at getting surgery for finely trying a new medication, because this clinic clearly did more for us in one visit then the public system has done for us in 10+ years. So please if you have RA don't risk your health go see a specialist! Thank you

If only i could give a 0 star. Do not bother coming here. My mum had an appointment with Dr Szramka and was appalled at how she was treated over the 1hr appointment. Basically felt as if she was gaslighted for the $600 it costed and that she got scolded for her symptoms. All the other 1 star reviews are the same and exactly what she had experienced. Go somewhere else, you wont leave upset and feeling horrible about your symptoms!!!!!

I won’t dwell on how Dr Szramka silenced me when I was trying to give her my symptoms (because I was “ruining her flow”) or snapped at me to tell her how a particular symptom was relevant (I didn’t know - I was trying to be comprehensive). But what was really really disappointing about the 3 or so costly visits I had and money spent on imaging, was that she never came up with a diagnosis. She suggested I have poor posture and that was causing my pain.
Disillusioned with her lack of helpful diagnosis I stopped seeing her. I was left suffering and having more damage done to my body for months. Eventually a GP diagnosed me - on the first visit I ever had with him - and I have been on successful treatment ever since. He sent me to another rheumatologist to confirm the diagnosis. I am now pain free and on the mend.
I feel ripped off financially and both my body and emotions were left to endure more stress from having seen her.

I saw doctor Szramka after having months of post-Covid chest pains. She said with certainty these pains aren’t related to Covid, and blamed my poor posture. Even though they started happening straight after Covid she called it a coincidence and said years of bad posture have just finally caught up. I just received chest MRI results and my GP confirmed I have costochondritis as a result of Covid. My GP is starting me on high dose anti-inflammatories and I will not ever be going back to Dr. Szramka.
