This is the second time I have eaten here and I tried a few new things as the place is great. The trick is to order on the app but only press send on things as you are finishing one course otherwise it all comes out at once (lesson learnt from last time)

Started off with my favourite mini cooked tuna (not very adventurous I know) but I like the light sweet taste with a bit of wasabi on top. Prepared fresh and delivered quickly to get my hunger under control early.

Next thing I tried was something new, the tempura snapper with amazu sauce (fyi a couple of pieces missing from the photo as I had already started before taking the photo) the batter was light and the sauce was a slightly sweet light vinegar that went so well with it. WiIl have again especially with AMAZING Amazu sauce!

Had never tried eel before today and it was yum, almost a cross between light fish and scallop (so less of a strong flavour that scallop), heaps of egg omelet and rice so it was super filling. I found to have the ginger with the eel in a combined bite was a winner. WiIl have again

Final new thing for the day was a Mango mochi ball which came with a squirt of whipped cream. I know I am late to the party in trying mochi balls but this was a sticky delight and not super sweet either just a great palate cleanser for the end of the meal.
Staff are stay out of the way unless you need them, place is always clean and tidy - if you haven't been give it a go and try some great Japanese.

I've been to Ogawa about 2 or 3 times prior to this visit, but the last time I visited was 5yrs ago. When they first started out, I used to go very late and there used to be an additional Japanese menu for more authentic dishes .

Now they have refreshed the small space they've got: it's typical Japandi style with natural timbers, black broody writing and fake plants with surprisingly realistic roots. ( See pic). The toilet is also clean and simple.

We got a salmon carpaccio and another scallop and leek dish. Both sauces on these dishes were just amazing and there was a large amount left over from the scallop dish to dunk the karaage chicken in.

The large sashimi set is good value for money, and probably the most affordable one in town. The pieces are a good size and thickness. The prawns were incredibly sweet with a slippy texture ( without being slimy), the scallops were mildly sweet with a hint of lime. Perfect.
Then there was salmon, tuna, kingfish and snapper: all lovely, and just like what you'd get elsewhere. Then there were another 2 slices of very fatty and marbled salmon... It sort of looked like it was from the cheek area. There were another 2 pieces of very fatty fish.... Very decadent. These 4 fatty bits were not my favourite, but definitely added some variety to the sashimi platter. I had this with plum wine, which was an excellent pairing.

A great experience and I'll have to try the nigiri next time. It's not on par with higher end Japanese restaurants, but taste is great for the prices, you can't beat this.

Great food and good service. Seaweed, tempura and Bento Box hit the spot. No need to bring wine - enjoy the beer and sake at good value. We had a great night so book ahead as it's a small establishment.

One of my favorite restaurants in Canberra. Even I can't have raw fish, there are lots of options to eat for me. They are very flexible. I like ogawa roll, always change cooked tuna instead of fresh tuna for me. Consistent foods quality and reasonable prices to eat out. My friends like their sushi and sashimi too. They said they always feel fresh when they have sushi and sashimi. Love it. Want to visit again soon.

My little one's favorite place! My 2 years old boy loves their udon and deep fried chicken. We just can't pass this restaurant without having any meals.

Small place but nice environment to have a meal. Lovely staff members. Highly recommended!

The food here is incredible. The carpaccios are the hero with beautifully elegant dressings and expertly sliced sashimi. It’s not cheap but it’s not overly expensive for the quality of seafood they deliver. Service is prompt and staff are cheerful and non-obtrusive. This is fine dining cuisine with super casual service which suits me perfectly. Highly recommend.

Loved this place, their take on gyoza is a bit different but everything was delicious.
Highly recommend the sashimi and lamb cutlets.

We have dined here twice now and will definitely be returning again. They have enough variety on the menu to allow you to try different meals, without being overwhelmed by what to pick. Dishes come out quickly and the taste is amazing! Service is good as well.

The only downside is its a small venue and very squishy when full, so we try to dine there as early as possible now but it is cosy!

Loved our time at Ogawa. They were very accommodating to our unique food requests and served up the goods in good time considering it was very busy.

Can’t fault the Japanese curry and Sushimi set.

What a wonderful Japanese meal we had, the quality of fish is excellent, and the sushi made beautifully. Can’t go wrong with the snapper carpaccio either. Will certainly come back to this place again and again.

Food is consistently served generously, efficiently and with a smile. Meals here are always a delight and the lunch specials are particularly good value. The teriyaki chicken bento (pictured) is my go-to when I'm ravenous: $19.90 incl. miso soup, agedashi tofu, vegetable tempura, a green salad, pickles and a couple of slices of very fresh kingfish.
