Carmila Sands Motel

After a long day of travelling, we were looking for a quick overnight stay somewhere close off the highway. This motel provided everything we were after (comfortable beds, hot shower, fridge and microwave) Great friendly service with a smile and the meals we ordered were very enjoyable. A definite 10 out of 10 and a place we will stay again if passing through!

All indications were of another unpretentious place for another 1 night stop on your travel along the Bruce Highway. Ok, it's not your 5 star resort hotel, but we found the motel had a very comfortable and well appointed room, the location was excellent - very close to the highway, yet well sheltered from the traffic and noise, and a courteous service. Exceeded expectations.

Loved my stay here. I travel a lot for work and this is up there with some of the best accommodation I’ve had. Great hosts and the room service food is restaurant quality. If I’m back in the area again this will be my go to.

I’ve taken over 100 country hotels, and this is one of the best. It’s modern, clean, and has lots of surprises. It’s also close to Woolworths, Aldi, McDonald’s, and fast food outlets and two pubs. There’s also a Caltex service station around the corner. Really recommend

This a great budget overnight rest stop. The rooms are spacious with fridge and coffee making facilities. Bed was comfy and the room was dark and quiet. Great place to rest during a long stretch of travel. Room service available if required

We were driving from Cairns to the Sunshine Coast and just wanted to spend the night on the way. This place was much more than we were expecting! So clean and tidy. Everything so organised. Bed was nice and comfy, good hot shower. Microwave and a fridge (not a minibar, which makes a huge difference!). We had a great night’s sleep. Excellent customer service! 10 out of 10 experience - we highly recommend.

We stayed at Carmila Sands Motel for 1 night on our way from Brisbane to Cairns. Scott greeted us at arrival. Super friendly and welcoming. We arrived late and hadn't had dinner, Scott had a menu for homemade meals and they were delicious. We had the Rump Steak, Chips and Salad and Homemade Rissoles with a variety of veggies. The meals were so tasty and healthy. The room was clean and tidy, bed was comfy and it had a full size fridge/freezer. Would definitely recommend Carmila Sands Motel. Thanks Scott!

What a pleasant surprise along the highway. Stayed here two weeks ago on our trip to Brisbane. The room was modern, spacious, very clean and tidy. In fact the entire property is well kept. Ordered dinner and lucky I shared with my husband as good size meals are offered...not to mention was delicious and great value for money. Scott was wonderful to deal with prior to our arrival. Would highly recommend this motel.

Modern, comfortable, well thought out and very well priced. Rooms are spacious and all the small things that other motels cheap out on is not overlooked. Room service was also outstanding; provided quickly, to excellent quality and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. the pool there is always at a perfect temperature and sparkly clean. If you are driving from Brisbane to Cairns, it is a perfect midway stopover.

Stayed here for 3 nights.Cant speak highly enough about Carmilla Sands.

Located 10 1/4 hours north of Brisbane 2 1/2 hours north of Rockhampton, 5 minutes off the highway in music st camilla , the Camilla sands motel offers a welcoming rest for the tired traveller. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and offer all the basics for an overnight stay. The room contained a Full size Fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, tea n coffee satules, cups mugs x2, television, WiFi connection comfortable bed with two bed side tables with power points suitable for a cpap sleep machine, 2 chairs a counter breakfast bar and small wardrobe. The bathroom is of the onsuite style combination shower toilet vanity. The motel is within walking distance to the Camilla railway station and the camilla Hotel. we did hear one train toot about 3am, but overall, it was very quiet

My cousin and I booked 2 adjacent rooms prior to Christmas. They were spacious, clean rooms and the meals we ordered were excellent and we'll priced. Our party totalled four and we decided to sit outside on the chairs supplied, within minutes we met like guests and soon the group swelled to eight. We chatted and enjoyed the lovely company. What a memorable night.

We stayed there for 1 night, very nice owner. The motel was built 8 years ago by the owner, clean & modern. This motel was a nice surprise as Carmila had a population of 398 according to the 2022 census - what a gem! additional info: no plates, no cutlery apart from 1 spoon

All above standard. Room clean & tidy, bed very comfortable & was greeted in a friendly manner. Would recommend this motel to any traveller.

The owners were welcoming, the room was very comfortable with quiet air conditioning (compared to other places we have stayed in recently). The meal was excellent - the best salad we have had in a long time and the homemade chutney on the fish was “epic” as our grandson would say!

Excellent accommodation, very quiet and a nice sized room, very clean and a comfortable & firm bed, huge sized fridge with separate freezer (a rare bonus in a motel room) very easy and spacious undercover parking, great location if you are travelling between Cairns and Brisbane.

Can’t recommend this place highly enough. The other reviews here say it all. The room was very comfortable, cool and had everything we needed for and overnight stay. We stayed on Christmas Eve 2021 and had an excellent dinner prepared by our host.
One of the reasons I am writing this is that on the night of our dinner, we we’re telling the owner (Scott) that we were arriving on Christmas Day at Airlie Beach and had been unable to find anywhere to eat lunch. Scott offered to (and did) prepare us a wonderful meal of prawns/ham and salad. We have just finished it and it contributed to one of the nicest Christmas Days we have ever had. I tried to find an email to send him a photo as thanks but this will have to do. Thanks Scott.

Great service, called in on our way home to get a good nights sleep. Room was clean, tidy and spacious. Ordered dinner which was amazing, felt bad I couldn’t eat it all as it was very delicious.

We were so well looked after by Scott and the team. After a full day of driving, we booked in over the phone and the room service menu was texted to us. When we arrived our meals were almost ready and they were fantastic! Room was spotlessly clean and the bedding so comfortable. Well rested and on the road again! Thanks so much!
