Central Gardens Nature Reserve

I was shocked and surprised when my brother brought me here. Didn't know it existed and what a great surprise. They have a huge park and 2 play grounds tennis courts down the other way. 2 BBQ areas first in first serve. Only let down is there is minimal parking. We parked by the animal side of the park. There's a pond with waterfalls it's very tranquil. The paths are very wide and the park is nice enough for a stroll and short enough for those who need to just enjoy a small walk and not too strenuous. Kids can run off but able to be seen. The animals was a wow for me and titles walking in the park were amazing. There were 2 children staring at the turtle and I thought it was theirs until they said no there's another one over there as well! We came in a Monday afternoon very quiet plenty of space and before school ended but in the weekends it's mad. Needs to be experienced though and the field is big enough you can kick balls around etc.

A hidden gem!!! Central Gardens Nature Reserve offers a wide range of possibilities to enjoy your time; small zoo, an astonishing lake with magnificent falls, BBQ facilities, and play grounds. A cozy spot to walk around and enjoy its beauty. Free car park availabe. Highly recommended!!!

The water falls were beautiful. Big playground, big playing amenities for children and mostly the wildlife park was very nice although had few animals.
No tickets or booking needed for the nice place and small zoo !
You can plan your weekend there to spend the whole day. Lots of things to do. We packed our lunch there and saw some were doing barbeque as well.

Need to know the timing though. Water falls end at 2 pm, zoo Upto 4 pm. For daylight savings time the park now is open until 7 pm.

What a great find to take the kids to. They have emu's kangaroos wallabies some birds and a snake. We also walked around the water with bridges to stay dry. It was such a nice refreshing area hidden in suburbia. Great for getting the kids out of the house, or for a large gathering for a picnic.

This is an amazing park. There is a small animal inclosure also, but the main feature is the two waterfalls, these were amazing. Great place to take kids photos, have a picnic and enjoy family. A bus stops right out the front and car parking also.

Great place for children and the elderly. Plenty of animals to look at good paths to roam around . Lovely covered area to sit and talk and tables for morning tea , lunch and early dinner. Great area around the waterfall for pictures. We had an enjoyable morning wandering around so clean and gardens watered and well looked after.

Absolutely gorgeous place surrounded by sounds of wildlife able to view kangaroos, birds and emu. Big park for kiddies to play at. Plenty of bbqs to use.

Very good place to be with nature and relax. Excellent place to go with kids or friends.

It really is a nice well maintained, reasonably sized family friendly park.

I didn’t knew there was such a nice place in and around Merrylands before going here. Was looking for a place to go Picnic with my family and we found this place. It has some kangaroos and wallabies and nocturnal animals as well. Also birds (a black cucaktoo), waterfall and ducks which my kiddo likes to chase. Highly recommend this place if you are into picnic and barbecues or just like a stroll on nice sunny day to admire the nature.

Great for a nice relaxing day with beautiful scenery. My kids loved the big playgrounds, had many things for them to play with. It has a small but great animal reserve which is free entry. It has small waterfalls which are beautiful and ponds with loads of ducks. Lots of open grass areas to have a picnic or run around with the kids. It also has picnic facilities, bbqs, tables, on site parking and toilets.

This reserve is so beautiful with water falls which gave you sound so peaceful to hear ,walking there felt like came far to holiday destination but it was just 1 hour drive from our house we never had idea this beautiful park situated here where group of people were doing picnic ,couple were walking with pram where baby was Inside. For children climbing rope as well sliding also there . As well shade if rain suddenly start . Loved the water falls 😍

Nice garden and small wildlife park within the city.

Nice small park for stroll. There is small section with animal enclosures with few kangaroos, wallaby, emus and birds. Whole park can be covered within an hour. There are kids play areas, BBQ pits. The pond is mostly covered with green moss. There are goose, ducks and few swamp hens.

Water fall is man made and it’s close as of our visit. Also it seems to be open few hours a day.

My cats like going there, at least all dogs jave tp he on leashes so its safer for them and they get to see the ducks etc

Beautiful place to spend on weekends. You can watch kangaroos here. Even small birds , ducks and small fountains you can watch here. Also many people prepare barbecue here. You can enjoy weekends with family friends and kids.

Great park, lots of walking trails, a lake and waterfall, kids playgrounds, picnic areas, tennis courts and a wildlife enclosure. All free.
Not all walking trails or areas are wheelchair or pram friendly

Very nice and big park. There are animals like kangguru, emu, birds, swan, ducks, and place to do picnic and BBQ, not forget playground. The playground is good as well for kids age 6 months - 10 years old.

There are disability swing and seesaw. Which are a bonus.

Waterfall also wonderfull. So we love it.

Perfect place to spend time with kids,it has a great playground with dand pit and so on. Bbq and picnic shelter. There is also a wildlife enclosure and a waterfall
