Golden Square Hotel

Tonight a small group of us decided to go to the Golden Square Hotel at 341 High St, Golden Square. We all ordered various meals. I had the Black Angus Eye Fillet Mignon cooked to the way I like it, and to perfection. The steak was served with chips, vegetables and mushroom gravy. The magic for culinary delights like this happens in the engine room, the kitchen. I wanted to make mention of the great work the chef did and asked for their name. We just call him ‘Snags’(?) came the answer. Well Snags, you prepared and cooked a fantastic steak. We all had a very pleasurable evening, good hospitality teamed with a 5 star steak. Well done!

First impressions as we walked in were that it was clean and staff were very helpful..
We were outside in the beer garden for my brothers 60th plenty of seating and when we ordered our meal it came out pretty quickly.
Although what I read for my meal on the menu did not meet my expectations it was tasty but had alot of small noodles that were really hard to eat..

We had dinner here with my Bendigo family before we head home the following day.
Good 👍 for a restaurant pub. Food is great so as the atmosphere. Looks like people who come to this pub are friends and know each other, so it's like a family-friendly atmosphere. The staff are friendly and quick in serving our food. Highly recommended when you're visiting Bendigo.

Lovely dog friendly lounge and staff. And the food was amazing. Highly recommend the garlic and mustard bread with cheese and bacon. So much bacon. It was decadent.
The staff gave the dog ice water which she enjoyed after our walk.

Love dropping in for a drink or a meal...service is fantastic...what a talent the bar staff have of always remembering what we drink...and always very friendly without being over the top...great little local

We had a lovely lunch there yesterday; it was very busy, and we ended up in the bar rather than outside in the sun. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The meals were close to, if not, the best Pub fare we have ever eaten. Perfectly cooked, fresh and well presented. Definitely we be coming back when we visit Bendigo again, well done guys

A nice modern pub in Bendigo! I had the steak special $28 plus a glass of wine which was excellent value. Steak was cooked perfectly & came out in a reasonable time. I’d definitely return next time I’m in the area.

Perfect find for a mid week lunch.. Lovely atmosphere, super friendly staff and very tasty meals. Definitely worth stopping by. We will be back.

Beautiful food i ate there the other night and it was amazing highly recommend the prawn and chorizo fettuccine pasta dish (picture 1). The mexicana (picture 3) and the cowboy chilli (picture 2) parma's are amazing and should definitely be tried. All round excellent atmosphere to the restaurant as well. Well done and five stars

Staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the food was great. Bit loud in there is my only negative. Overall, great night.

Really great food served in good time. The staff are great and really made me feel welcome. The Golden Square Hotel has been the highlight of my trip to Bendigo.

Really impressed, out of towner requiring a feed, walked in served straight away given a menu directed to the bar special list, selected the mixed grill.Would be the best dollar for value I have had in the last 30 years. The decor was most impressive.

Great, fresh quality food. The best salad dressing ever and fantastic waitress with the dark hair and glasses.

Porterhouse steak was pretty damn good.

The best staff! Helpful, polite, warmly welcomed. Sensational food. Great wine list and a knowledgeable manager who can give you the heads up on good wineries to visit. You won’t be disappointed dining here or just popping in for a drink or to watch the footy - preferable though if North Melbourne had’ve won!

My Sons took me out for Mother's Day tea. Excellent service, good sized meals and reasonable prices, food delivered with a smile. Place was busy but plenty of staff which made things run smoothly. Tables were cleared quickly. Would dine there again. Recommended. Thankyou. Dianne, Jeremy & Ben.
