Sea Shanty on Myer

Lake Entrance offers a lot of easy going eateries but Sea shanty is a real restaurant.. a place where fresh food is prepared in a way to satisfy all of one’s taste buds. The vines offered are a good range of local and international vines. Frauke (Chef of kitchen) is doing an amazing job and her fresh salads are outstanding!! Reservation is recommended

We dined at this amazing restaurant on Saturday night December 16 2023.
We booked ahead as we knew it was very popular and we wanted to secure a table.
We were greeted by very friendly staff. The service was top notch. Fast friendly and very professional. Staff were very attentive very friendly and were more than happy to assist with any questions.
I ordered the oysters kilpatrick for my entree and partner ordered the bruschetta.
The oysters were amazing. The bruschetta looked delicious and my partner throughly enjoyed it.
For our mains I ordered the Seafood Chowder and my partner ordered the Fish and chips.
The Seafood Chowder was unbelievable. Omg it was so good. So fresh and I could have had another one lol
The fish and chips were so good. Not too oily and fish was fresh and very tasty.
Sea Shanty is an amazing little restaurant and is a must if you are visiting Lakes Entrance.
A big thumbs up for everything, food, service, price, ambiance.

We were fortunate to have booked ahead of time. People were turned away (politely) as they hadn’t booked.
From the time you are welcomed by Sharon you feel very welcome & comfortable. All the staff are friendly & attentive. The atmosphere is wonderful. The menu is mouth watering. The serves are very generous and delicious. You are also not rushed to order a meal or to leave when finished. This is a dining experience not to miss out on if you are at Lakes an entrance. Well done.

Most enjoyable oysters Kirkpatrick followed by fish and chips. Yummo. Fat beer batter chips and two huge pieces of fish, with yummy mayo-based tartare. Freshest of salad too. Also really nice Mocktails with a retro feel. Will go back.

Lovely food and service at the Sea Shanty tonight. The showstopper Seafood chowder was the highlight. Recommended to book a table in advance when in Lakes Entrance. Plenty of street parking.

Went to Sea Shanty on a Sunday for our anniversary dinner after seeing the reviews. They informed us that they were understaffed and our order might take longer. Despite that, they delivered within a reasonable amount of time. The staff were very nice and attended to customers to the best of their ability. The food was great. Fish and chips and blueberry streusal were really good. Overall, it was a lovely place to have a meal with good customer service.

It was a satified lunch. I'm an oyster lover, and I love their fresh oysters! They also have some good white wine.

We’ve been traveling around Australia for 5 weeks & spent a couple days in Lakes Entrance. We had a great meal at Sea Shanty tonight. Food was fresh & delicious and service was excellent. We had many questions & she was so kind at answering them even it was very busy. We had Calamari (entree special) & it was so tender best we had all Australia. I had Seafood Gumbo, perfectly spiced & my husband had Fish & Chips & he loved it. Too bad we are leaving we’ve loved to have more meals there. Ignore bad reviews & must try this place when you are in Lakes Entrance!!

I had the duckfish special with a sweet white and bruscetta starter. It was delicious and the restaurant itself is this cute little place that I would recommend taking friends or a date.

Recently my wife and I enjoyed a Mother's Day dinner in Lakes Entrance Restaurant Sea Shanty.
We wanted to shout out to the staff as my wife Had one of the nicest meals. I think we've ever enjoyed. in Lakes

we are Foodies and we've travelled around here and theree in lots of places and recently some fine dining in Sydney. We visited this restaurant and had a fresh local Moroccan-crusted gemfish dish which we put up in the level of any food with ever eaten. We want to highly recommend sea shanty, the friendly atmosphere. and the quality of food.
Give it a try you won't be disappointed. We will be going back!!

I can understand why the sea shanty is a busy spot, luckily we booked a table in advance. Food portions were big, come hungry for some delicious food. It was really good and fresh. Well done.

We have been to Sea Shanty on several occasions, and found it to be first class. Excellent and friendly service. Food was beautiful with a generous serving. Certainly be back again.

French cuisine at it's best, the quality of the food here is unbelievable with very service to match.
We had the Escargots pan fried with shallots, mushrooms, brandy & cream, they were some of the best snails I've ever had, so tasty and cooked perfectly.
The home made Chicken Liver Terrine also was perfectly made, really enjoyed.
I had the Bouillabaise which I really enjoyed, the seafood was perfectly cooked and matched with a tasty broth.
We also had the Rabbit Chasseur which was a special, my wife who lived in France said it took her back there it was so good.
Highly recommend a visit and we will be back when next in the area.

We just had another magnificent meal at Froggy's. The authentic french cuisine has to be tried to be appreciated. From the welcome through to the au revoir the service and food is just so good. Photos will show what we ate but we totally recommend you try and review for yourselves!

Up there with one of the best meals of our life and as good as you would find in any top restaurant in France.

You could tell the food had been made with so much love, service was perfect, quality of the seafood was top notch and the broth of our mains was exceptional.

It was honestly one of those rare dining experiences that I know I will be talking about years from now.

Seafood chowder was awesome and so was the dessert! The service was friendly and catered for my weird request of dessert for lunch and enjoyed a joke about it 😀 Thank you 5 stars 🌟

With a warm and friendly ambience, in an equally friendly town, this family run French restaurant is a must visit at the Lakes Entrance. You are made to feel special and your needs are catered to if you are willing to be open and communicate with them. We had a great evening and an unforgettable dinner at this place. My wife is a vegetarian, so she called the restaurant about an hour before our dinner to discuss her options and the chef surprised her with a delectable vegetarian dish, not on the menu. The fish soup was heart warming and the saffron was a delightful and delicious surprise. The prawns with cream and pernod was absolutely soaked with flavours and the freshness of the prawns ( done to perfection) came through very well, Pernod in the sauce was something new for me and was perfect for the dish. My wife and I did not skimp on the desserts and we were really happy about it. The peach melba was refreshing and rich at the same time and the creme brulee was warm and filled our hearts and left us wanting for more. The portions are quite generous too! Its a BYO, so be prepared or the food works is just a hop-skip and jump across the road. Please book ahead as they are usually full, but once you are in, its an absolute treat!

Updated review: This restaurant has become a must visit - in this Covid era when staycations are more popular we have returned to Lakes Entrance several times & this restaurant more than once on each visit.

A superb French restaurant run by husband & wife team, who hail from the Burgundy region, was an unexpected find. The menu offered an excellent range of classic French dishes. The white sauces while creamy were not unduly heavy & the red sauces were rich & hearty. Vegetables that accompanied meals were suitably cooked (not under done). One visit is insufficient to fully appreciate to magnificence of the menu.

Table service was according to order of arrival & the atmosphere of the establishment was singularly Gallic. The Bistro holds a BYO licence so we were able to enjoy a pleasing glass of our chosen tipple (eg. cider, wine, champagne) on each visit. This is a restaurant where you go to "dine" as opposed to merely "eating".

Family friendly, very good place.

The food is better than most of fine dining restaurants but the price is very friendly.

Lake entrance is a quick stop on our trip but Sea Shanty literally leave us an impressive memory.
