I would just like to say Cathy and team were amazing and really helped give my dad a truely amazing send off. From the first time I spoke to Cathy I felt at ease at this very difficult time, she was always available and I never felt like I was bothering her. Highly recommend William Mathews funerals. Our dear mum was taken from us on the evening of 23/12/23, there is never an ideal time to lose a loved one but being at Christmas seemed to add to the pain.

Our dad (her husband of 62 years) took this even harder and really needed the service to take place as soon as possible.

From our first phone call with Micah which immediately put my mind at ease, this painful process was handled with ease.

We then met with Sharon who somehow managed to organise everything for funeral on 4/1/2023. Nothing felt rushed, she organised absolutely everything including, notices, flowers even a wonderful Deacon who suited our needs.

She was so efficient yet kind and patient and gave our beloved mum the funeral she deserved.

Thank you also to Carey and I’m sure the balance of the team who helped.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and I’m sure dad will be in contact himself.

The team at William Matthews funerals went above and beyond for us, they were so accomodating and really delightful to work with at a time when our family was experiencing a really hard time.

Sharon, Melanie, and the rest of the team (forgive me I’m horrible with names) were so helpful and even helped us out afterwards with arranging a separate service.

The service was very comfortable and everything went very smoothly.

We would like to thank you all so so much for making the funeral and of our father and partner Gordon Esplin so easy for us. You all were so fantastic, caring and you made the celebration of Gordon’s life such a special day for us to remember.

Everyone that we spoke with throughout the planning of the service were kind and caring to us all. We were all so touched by the kindness you all showed us in our difficult time and for that we all wanted to thank you so much.

We really appreciated everything you did and we were very touched and wanted to thank Micah for changing the hearse from the Ford to the Holden caprice for Gordon’s final journey. Gordon worked for many years at Holden and he loved Holden and for Micah to pickup on that from only hearing that through the eulogies and to change the car really touched us.

Bill Matthews is the kindest, most compassionate man I've ever met. He did everything he could to look after my partner. His actions prove that he has a great respect for those in his care and that he truely cares about those affected the most.
A funeral is a horrible thing to plan, but Bill does everything he can to make that process less painful.

We are so fortunate to have this local, family owned business in Lilydale. William Matthews Funerals conducted the funeral for our Mother in 2014 and most recently for our Father in October 2021. Again we received the same kind, caring professionalism from first phone call to the final farewell. Highly recommended.

We have now had to use the services of William Matthews Funerals on 4 occasions in the past 24 years, when we lost our mothers, my father in law and also my wife's grandmother. We have seen the business grow and they now have excellent facilities and premises where they can hold respectful and dignified funerals. Their customer service is second to none. My father in law had a pre paid funeral plan and his wishes were carried out to the letter. There are bigger companies around and funeral directors with higher profiles, but for what will be the most stressful time in your life, the care of your loved one who has passed, could not be in better hands. A local family owned business who can be relied on.

We held our mothers funeral today and I know she would have loved how it went, from the first phone call after her passing Sharon and the rest of the staff couldn't have done anything more.

Matthew is thorough and caring for his Chinese client where he took the trouble of updating the translator about the new requirement to organizing the apostille for overseas purpose. He personally came a couple of times to pick the hard copies up in person to make sure it was alright. He's truly committed to for his clients' interest. A suave and kind gentleman indeed.
