Locavore Studio

Truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had! We dined in for the Valentine’s Day set dinner menu and every course was spot on. Particularly noteworthy dishes were the enoki mushroom snack, the kingfish starter and the beef rump main. We loved the use of native ingredients including saltbush and Davidson plum. The service was unobtrusive, friendly and genuine. Jeremy took care of us and he made us feel so welcomed and was more than happy to cater for dietary requirements. Liam, behind the bar made us such creative and delicious cocktails. A very impressive drinks list which paired well with the menu. Chelsea, Liam and Jeremy all introduced themselves and made the experience very personable and memorable. It’s obvious that they’re passionate about what they do. We cannot wait to dine in again. After a pleasant stay in Lilydale our group of 4 wanted a good cafe experience to leave on. We got it.
It was already popular at 10am on this Sunday - plenty of seats (in and out) meant no wait. The peak hour was 10.30 to 11.30
We stayed long enough to see the numbers ease off by noon.
Food was colourful and tasty. Coffee (long black) was excellent.
Staff were smiley and friendly and efficient.
This place has a 4.5 rating currently. This would be my rating if you could give half marks.
Adjoining the cafe is a providore offering all sorts of fun stuff like cheese, pastries, jams and other tasty looking treats made locally. They are not cheap. What they are is good quality and worth paying extra for.

What a stunning cafe. Very beautiful in aesthetics and the food was really delicious. The chilli scramble was creamy and smooth, the sauces balanced beautifully, and the fried mint leaves and toasted nuts provided the perfect crunch. It was presented very well too.

The service was quick and friendly. What a great spot for brunch.

It is very rare for me to rate a restaurant 5/5. Locavore gets that from me.

We asked the chef to feed us, an option provided for on the menu. The courses that came out stunned us with variety and flavour. From the Garfish through to the amazing desserts, subtlety was counterpointed with the spotlight on a star ingredient. Whether it be the Enoki mushrooms or the dark chocolate cremeux pav, the dishes took us on a flavourful journey.

One of the things about Locavore that stood out for me was the knowledgeable bartender who was able to perfectly recommend the right cocktail or mocktail for each dish. Not often does a regional restaurant get everything right, but Locavore did a fabulous job of getting the food and drink right, served by personable and knowledgeable staff who struck just the right level of engagement with our table.

I highly recommend that you make Locavore part of your next Yarra Valley excursion.

The new fittout looks amazing, the staff are all very welcoming and provide great service.
We choose the "feed me" and we're delighted to find they could cater for both my partner (no dietary restriction) and myself (gluten free and dairy free) without any fuss. The food was divine.

Locavore Nights

There aren’t enough stars to match my experience at Locavore's new night eatery in the heart of Lilydale.

This spectacular venue has set a new benchmark for fine dining in the outer eastern suburbs. They proudly incorporate the freshest local ingredients into every well thought out detail of the dish and the smallest of touches don’t go unnoticed.

The food experience is equally matched with a cleverly designed cocktail menu which is paired perfectly to the menu.

I have no doubt that in due course, the secret will be out and everyone will want to experience this new shining star.

Highly reccomend for small groups and special date nights when wanting to impress.

Locavore Catering was an absolute hit at our wedding! They provided exceptional food that was both delicious and beautifully presented. The service was impeccable, and their attention to detail made our special day at Projekt 3488 even more memorable. The guests were raving about the Salmon and Dutch Carrots and also the serving sizes! Locavore also had great options available for all dietary requirements. Highly recommend their catering services for anyone looking for top-quality and attentively prepared dishes!

This place in Lilydale is very popular. Food is average though it’s a great place for meeting friends. Not only there are parking lots outside, it is accessible by train as it’s located right next to Lilydale train station.

Locavore catered our wedding in April 2024 at Projekt 3488 and our guests are still telling us about how great the food was! Truely wonderful staff, great food and they were really thoughtful with the details. Highly recommend Locavore to cater for your special event!

Lovely lovely lovely place. Food was beautiful. I has French toast which I highly recommend, and friend had scrambled eggs. Nice pot of English breakfast tea. Lots to choose from.

Lovely Cafe to visit. Beautiful food, clean & plant filled surroundings.
Our wait person smiled & was very happy, she even did a little dance. Now that is what I call happiness! Will definitely be going back. Thoroughly recommend this Cafe. ( open all during the day ) to our delight!

The place is clean and bright. The staff are really friendly. Coffee was amazing! It's so hard to find good coffee that doesn't taste burnt or weird.
The menu was really good, the breakfast I ordered was yum, though I do wish they buttered my toast (I did ask them to).

GREATEST CAFE ON THE STRIP
In my humble opinion this is the best of a very good bunch of cafes along this stretch of the high street. They just have the best eye for detail in the produce and the service. The barista quality is top notch and as good as any in the city. The food has always got an interesting twist in the flavours that is novel but not weird. In the autumn or spring there is a very spacious dining area out the back/side.

I would like to express our gratitude to Locavore Catering for Catering our wedding in Yarra Glen, January 2022. The amazing food, catering, and service to us on our wedding day was exceptional! We can hardly find the words to express how deliciously mouth-watering the food was, the aesthetically pleasing presentation, tantalising smell and how memorable the taste was. All of our guests were raving about the food, how it was one of the best wedding meals they have ever had; no one was left hungry that’s for sure. One of our vegan guests was overwhelmed (in the best way) with the selection of food that she was almost full with the main course by the time her dietary specific meal reached her, though with no hesitation it was devoured. Everyone had their food requirements met and loved the food so much.
The food and service by Locavore staff was absolutely superb and we are so satisfied with our choice in having this wonderful team cater for our guests. The menu selection is phenomenal and I cannot speak highly enough for all of their time, email correspondence and planning that went into our day. We are so thankful and grateful that Locavore also provided us with a wedding cake, which was absolutely amazing and exceeded our expectations (given we weren’t able to do a tasting due to covid). We loved the food so much and cannot speak more highly of Locavore.

Fantastic little cafe with some amazing bakery items, their sourdough bread is the best I have had, the cakes I have tried are always superb. After buying their bread for a couple of years I finally tried their meals last week and they were both very good, creative ingredients, good size and most importantly delicious taste. Menu is quite small, more towards breakfast dishes but usually some tasty lunch type dishes too. Coffee was good as was the service, Yet another excellent cafe for Lilydale keep up the good work Locavore. Photo is their pressed pork, eggs Benedict made with burnt butter and topped with pork floss, fantastic combo.
