You'll need a 4WD with good clearance to get here. The drive can be arduous however, it's worth every bit. I came up the east side and returned the western side. There's so many corrugations to deal with so be prepared. You'll also need a compressor because you will need to let your tyre pressures down. I ran 20psi today and had no issues.
Anyway, the views are breathtaking every bit of cliff is stunning.

Signposted location for the most Westerly point on the Australian mainland. After taking the obvious photos at the sign, go to the left and find the hole in the cliff line - this is truly a window on the world - wonderful place to pause and reflect.

Amazing cliffs and blue ocean, walking across an ancient reef up top. Watching whales breach nearby. Magical place

Amazing place ! Not a difficult ride at all , I thought that would be really difficult but not a lot of bumps during the road be careful about that I broke my roof rack ,

You got a Sandy climb that it nothing to worry about it , but keep the momentum going. I reckon on summer is more difficult as it was wet when I went .

I was expecting a difficult road but not easy easy , we camping on step point a bit windy but amazing view

Long drive but worth it. Need a proper 4wd. Lots of camping spots right in front of the beach.

Magic spot - the drive in is long but absolutely worth it (so long as you have a proper 4x4), with stunning views of monster sand dunes, turquoise water and huge cliffs. You'll probably see a few whales too. One of my favourite drives in WA.

Awesome drive out to the point. Make sure if you want to camp, to ring and book ahead. If you forget (like me) ask nicely and they may squeeze you in as overflow, they did for us! 😋😎

One of the best places to visit so raw and untouched and great fishing and exploring . Be sure to call the rangers before heading there

Awesome place to experience. It was a long day to get there and back but it was worth it.
Like all national parks in WA there is an entry fee, but if you have an annual pass this park is included.

Steep point itself is incredible. The water is crystal clear and like a fairytale. We wished we had of thought ahead and actually camped out on the beach for a couple nights because it would have been phenomenal!

Yes, the entire drive (3hrs) in is heavily corrugated, but i would definitely say well worth the time in the car

Constructed - 1960 (original)
Constructed - 1984 (new light)

The crew of the lighthouse tender vessel MV Cape Don would visit annually to carry out the routine service.

The light marks the westernmost point of the Australian mainland, guiding vessels through a narrow passage at the south end of Dirk Hartog Island.

The light has always been unmanned.

The original lighthouse was a 4m cast iron tower, the new tower is a fiberglass (Tupperware) type.

It is located in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, approximately 670km north of the capital city of Perth.

Loved it when I finally got there, parts of the road and tracks in are a little rough, but definitely worth it though.

What a gorgeous place. Camp sites are just that. Sites. Some long drop toilets. Road in is rough. Don't try it unless you are an experienced four wheel driver.
