After a nightmare result from surgery with a local Toowoomba orthopaedic surgeon, I was recommended to Dr Ross who re-broke and re-plated my right pointer finger. I found him to be a very quiet considered man who I had no trouble communicating with. Whilst he is extremely busy, I always felt well informed and well cared for. I have a friend who also visited Dr Ross (broken wrist) and they also had great results and experience. If you have any upper limb concerns, I would not hesitate to recommend you see Dr Ross. He is THE BEST in the region.

I wish I’d seen Dr Duke years ago. A positive experience for me. He’s forensic, knows his stuff, no messing around and I was pain free in a short amount of time. Thanks to his thorough investigation an incidental finding was also discovered which proved to be life saving.

I can’t thank Dr Duke enough for helping me to resolve years of severe arthritic pain in my hands. He was able to pinpoint exactly what was wrong and organise the right treatment. To be able to work in my garden and crochet while staying pain-free has changed my life.

Several failed attempts (GP & specialist) to treat pain associated with swimming lead us to Prof Ross.
Prof Ross quickly diagnosed the problem and arranged steroid into the right spot same day. The pain was relieved and my husband recommenced swimming soon after.
Can't emphasise strongly enough, exceptional outcome from least invasive treatment, such wisdom.. Well worth the travel for right diagnosis and radiology expertise injecting to right spot.
Admin staff were pleasant and accommodating. Prof Ross quietly confident. So pleased he is teaching others.

Surgery was 5 months ago and I have waited till now to write the review as I wanted to be sure. When I was informed I needed to see an orthopaedic surgeon, I read several reviews because I wanted the best. Upon reading Duke's, I knew Duke was the surgeon for me. A dry sense of humour and awesome surgeon. Perfect. On my initial consultation, his dry wit was welcomed and I felt very comfortable as we exchanged one liners. The surgery for a massive calcification deposit and frozen shoulder went very well. So he said. 5 months down the track I am going to say it is 90% and still getting better. Gotta be happy with that 👍 I am positive setting a 2hr count down timer on my phone for the first 3 weeks, during the day, for me to do my exercises was invaluable. Physio twice a week for the first couple of months seemed to plateau, so I combined that with acupuncture and have never looked back. Do the exercises. Yes, the pain was extreme at first and the Physio was cruel, though for me and my type of surgery, it was no pain; no gain and look where I am now. Spot on. I have just come back from a week's snow skiing. Thanks Dr Duke and his wonderful reception team. Receiption, Melinda, was incredibly helpful every step of the way. Cheers

Wonderful surgeon who replaced my shoulder 4 years ago I am so grateful to dr duke each and every single day. I think the negative reviews must be false because dr duke is professional, kind and top of his field. From a real patient. If I could give 10 stars I would.

I have been fortunate to have Dr Duke operate on me 3 times now over time. Both shoulders have had issues. He was even astute enough in his observations to detect an issue undiagnosed by the reporting on an MRi which was cruical to diagnosing my issue.
He is very approachable
He explains the condition the process and follow up procedures thoroughly.
His Staff are fantastic and extremely helpful and accommodating especially as I live in Nth Qld and had to travel down to Brisbane.
Honestly, if you need your shoulder attended to go straight to Brisbane but more so to Phillip Duke. You won't be Disappointed and you won't need to have someone else's work redone and or repaired as I have had in past.
He is a Master of his trade.
Dan.

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Dr. Phillip Duke during a consultation for my elbow injury. From the moment I stepped into his office, it was evident that his demeanor was far from accommodating. Despite expressing my concerns and symptoms, Dr. Duke appeared disinterested and did not lend an attentive ear.

Moreover, I was deeply disappointed by the lack of thoroughness in his examination. Dr. Duke's assessment of my elbow left much to be desired, as he hastily concluded that I had a 0 percent permanent impairment. This assessment starkly contrasts with my ongoing, debilitating pain, constant cracking, and severely diminished grip strength.

What's more troubling is the suspicion that Dr. Duke's motivations may be compromised by financial incentives. It's disheartening to consider that his affiliation with workcover could influence his judgment and lead to unjustly low impairment ratings for patients.

Overall, my experience with Dr. Phillip Duke was marked by rudeness, inattentiveness, and an inadequate evaluation of my condition. I would caution others to seek alternative medical professionals who prioritize patient care and thoroughness over financial interests.

I had an unpleasant experience. Most staff were friendly, especially the rehab staff. I found the doctor difficult to communicate with. Appointments were hard to make and lasted less than 15 minutes at a time.
It has been years since my surgeries and I have ongoing pain and loss of feeling.
I made follow up appointments to discuss my concerns but I felt my concerns were dismissed by the doctor.
My advice: get a second opinion, then get another one.

Worst Dr experience I have ever had. DR Duke was rude, dismisive and spoke over the top of me even when I was trying to answer his questions. I felt like I was a naughty kid sent to the Principal for a stern talking too.

A specialist with the most unpleasant demeanor and bedside manor. He didn't want to listen to me and I felt he couldn't wait for me to leave. He treated me like I was dirt under his shoe. If you suffer from stress, anxiety or you are neurodvergent then avoid this man as he will do nothing but exacerbate your situation and show you little to no compassion or empathy. The admin lady was pleasant enough. He seemed to have made his mind up before I even entered the room.

I had very bad experience with this man when I had to visit him over my Workcover claim. I found him to be ignorant and arrogant and not the least bit interested in hearing anything I had to say in regards to the ongoing effects of my work injury, when I tried to explain how it still effects my everyday living - he abruptly cut me off. He was much happier in throwing false and misleading accusations at me, making it very plain to see he is out to get the best results for Workcover, regardless of how the rest of my life is being impacted by my work incident. If you have to see Mr Duke over a Workcover or insurance claim, be well prepared and on your guard, sadly, I was not. I have given him 1 star, simply because there is no avenue on here to give minus 5 as I would rather have given him.

5 years on from 70% use of shoulder now 50%. About to see 3rd surgeon to try & get my 'disabled' shoulder to work after this person refused to help me 3 times in 9 months and dropped me from his research program after my first complaint. Pain all day every day as first surgery totally inappropriate for my original issue according to 3 other surgeons. Unable to perform many personal & domestic tasks...still. Asked to pay $3700 gap fee immediately "or we won't be able to operate tomorrow" was outrageous according to Medicare. Awful & painful experience.

The absolute arrogance and misogyny is utterly unprofessional, deplorable and repugnant. I have two arms that are now useless and I was banned from the clinic because I “dared” to question something. After 6 painful surgeries I have shoulders that sub-lux and dislocate on a daily basis. I had surgeries from 2009 - 2012. As a result of the “reputation” of the surgeon who banned me from the clinic, no upper limb surgeon will help me. It is very clear women are not welcome and certainly not a woman over the age of 30.

There's something dodgy going on here regarding John W. Walters.
My Work Cover Claim was cancelled because this man Stated there was nothing wrong with me. Even knowing that an MRI Scan that was sitting on front of him showed a Tear and a Cyst in My Hand & Arm.
He could see i was in physical pain with any movement of my Right Arm & Wrist.
However his statement towards WorkCover concluded
"There was nothing wrong with me" to put it blunt.
It seems like WorkCover and This Man are working together to Cancel People's Claims.
$ Money is put first and patient isn't even second.
Patient almost doesn't exist if you get my joke
