Dr. Matt Barber

ive had many Drs during my lifetime but Dr Barber is one of the few who has made me feel 100% comfortable and not judged. His main priority is what's in your medical interest I very much appreciate this. He is warm and engaging.

Solid doctor, very LBGT+ friendly and cares about the patient.

I've had 3 appointments with Dr. Matthew Barber solely for the reason of getting a physiatrist referral. After telling me he will send one off after the first visit, no referral was made, and the same for the 2nd. After the first visit he took me off my antidepressants, during this visit he asked me what I do for a living and when I said I'm a qualified remedial massage therapist he replied "oh that's good that you taught yourself massage" which I find extremely condescending. When I went in for the 3rd visit and asked why I still don't have a referral he printed off a piece of paper that said "Philip needs a diagnostic exam" and in the place of past history or allergies he wrote "none" which is absolutely incorrect. During both the 1st and 3rd appointment I stressed my need to be heard and listened to by a doctor as I've been messed around in the past, and then again stressed why I didn't have an referral he said "I don't think a diagnosis will help you". The next sentence after I said this, he told me "I don't think we really get along you'll probably do better finding someone else".

In an article in the paper Dr Barber wrote "patients are experts in their own body" which seems in great contrast to his actual practice where he tells you one thing and then proactively works against their wishes.

If you want help with mental health (which is a large area in LGBT care), DO NOT work with Dr. Matthew Barber. He has no interest in advocating for his patients, and my health outcomes from being his patient have been detrimental.

Got a test done with Dr Barber and told me results were all good. Incidentally had a friend Dr look at the results and he pointed to a large section printed in red, and concerning commentary on the paper about the results. Off to see a specialist about my results now.

If need anything other than PReP or STD tests, don't waste your time with Dr Barber.

Since moving to the stonewall clinic, dr barber will only help if you've got money. Poor queers stay away, you will find no solidarity here. Absolute disgrace.

He is ableist, forces weekly unnecessary and unwanted telehealth appointments to gain more money and misdiagnosed a chronic illness as a child just pretending to be in pain to avoid HPE. He doesn't actually listen, or care at this point. You have to essentially fight him to get any diagnosis done or have anything looked into. He is an absolutely pathetic doctor.

Got locked on an idea and stopped listening to me, then mocked me for disagreeing.
