Birds Fish Bar

Delicious food, fresh fish. We had the Spanish Mackerel (grilled), the Red Throat Emperor (crumbled) and squid and it was fenomenal. Prices are good, they sell the fresh fish by the kilo too and also some frozen options. They serve take away too. Service was friendly and the place is well decorated and cute. There's a small playground area fenced for the kids and a nice view to the marina on the other side. It also has parking in front of the shop. I highly recommend and I would return many times. Beware of the seagulls, because of their presence the tables are cleaned regularly, which it was great to see and the entire place looked clean. Wheelchair accessible.

We chose Birds Fish Bar as we could sit out and enjoy our seafood with a view.
The seafood baskets were delicious. Freshly cooked bug tail and prawns were the best! The baskets were huge. Would recommend ordering one to share for two people.
Loved we could buy a couple of drinks and sit on their verandah overlooking the harbour.
Staff were friendly.

We had the family of 4 pack. The Calamari, Potato Scallops, Fish, and chips were cooked to perfection. The marina views on sunset were amazing. We always visit here for meals we're in Bowen

Absolutely amazing food and service, some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! We had red throat emperor and chips with salt and pepper squid and tartare sauce- all of which I highly recommend. The man behind the counter was so helpful and friendly and the back dining area had a lovely view of the harbour!

The freshest, most delicious prawns I've eaten in about 25 years! The staff were friendly and super helpful.
The only disappointment was lunch was overcooked (chips & fish) by a few minutes, so well browned as opposed to golden. The boys still enjoyed their fish, but the chips were less than average, and certainly not generous portions either.
However, I'm still raving about the prawns, and the alfresco dining area was absolutely fabulous! Highly recommend dining in!2

This is absolutely one of my favourite fish and chips in Bowen ! As you walk in you are greeted by friendly staff and into a very clean space. Walking out onto the back deck there is plenty of seating, shade, the decor is very nice and you can see a lot of effort has been put into this place. Lovely view of the harbour and the tables are clean with plenty of bins around if needed. There is a playground for kids so this place is definitely children friendly. The team member at the counter was very friendly and he was knowledgeable of the menu and current fish available. We ordered 3x meals and they were very quick to come out, the chips were delicious and so was the fish. Definitely value for money! I can't wait to dine here again, lovely experience!

Great fresh seafood, the prawns were so good, we also got fish and chips, non greasy, good serving size, byo alcohol, seating out the back, all undercover, looking over the marina.

We made a stop for a late lunch and had the local wild caught fish Red Throat Emperor, perfectly grilled just with some lemon and salt. Delicious. We finished with the savory local prawn cutlet. It's worth a little detour from Bruce Hwy.
The tables outside could be cleaned more often. However, the seating is nice under shade with views on the little harbor.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a fresh “fish and chips” dinner! Relaxed atmosphere out the back of the shop looking out over water and fishing boats. thoroughly enjoyed our fresh fish and crumbed prawns! Only thing I could pick on was the thin chips. Still crunchy and good, but we prefer the thick cut chips.

Fresh seafood cooked by friendly staff. Great undercover outside seating, overlooking the harbour with fish swimming below. Great relaxed atmosphere. We came back 3 times. Best place to eat in Bowen if you love seafood.

Great fish and chips, splurged and got the breaded coral trout, was a large piece and was well worth it. Chips were fresh and crispy. Was a nice change from the typical breading. Only complaint is tartar sauce was $3.50, seemed a bit steep for a condiment. Service friendly and quick☺ also really nice area to eat next to water out back next to marina. We're both English so obviously very particular about our Fish & Chips, especially being from fishing towns in England. However, this was THE BEST fish & chips we've ever had. The fish was so fresh, perfectly cooked & not at all greasy.
The outdoor seating area is lovely overlooking the marina & large covered area with fans which was very welcome in the hot sunshine.
Last but not least the team working here are so friendly & welcoming. Amazing customer service which really adds to the experience.
100% would recommend this place to everyone & definitely worth the stop-off if you're on a road trip.

Little hidden treasure in Bowen. Seafood is really fresh and they sell fresh seafood packs to take home and prepare to your liking. Got the fish of the day pack, crumbed bugs tail and crumbed oysters very delicious with nice hot chips 🍟 good view of the marina clean and well maintained. Definitely will be back on my next holiday 😊

We've been to Bowen 3 times in the past 10 months, and Birds Fish Bar is our mandatory stop. The food is always superb, and we find it very reasonably priced, too. A definite bonus in this day and age!! At just $5.50, do yourself a favour and try a fish cake!!

BEST FISH & CHIPS I have had in a long time. My partner and I were only passing through wanting to grab a quick bite to eat. The fish was soo fresh!! We sat in the back dining area over looking the water.Would recommend!!

What a treat. Worth stopping by in Bowen for. Hands down the best seafood in Australia. You can really tell how fresh it is. It makes a huge difference. We had the fresh prawns, coral trout - grilled, potato scallops, and squid hands with chips.

The dining area is lovely and clean, as are the toilet facilities.

Don't come to Bowen without visiting Australia's best Fish and Chips. BYO is no problem. Grilled, battered or crumbed, burgers, we ate them all and were not disappointed. Get there or miss out.

A large group of us (20), arrived on Saturday lunchtime on a miserable wet day, the young staff were incredible. They served us within a good amount of time, we all got our meals correct and tasted fantastic. What a hidden gem Bowen has.
