Outstanding expertise and professionalism, including from his staff. Context - I've had 8 procedures performed since 2015 beginning with 2 hamstring repairs and knee surgery. Post those procedures, I was able to undertake some of Australia's toughest week long hikes including Western Arthurs, and also an Everest High Pass in winter. This year he performed forefront reconstruction both feet and follow up procedures. I am confident I have had the best possible outcome and will be undertaking challenging adventures again by mid 2022. His no nonsense approach, but at the same time friendly, was very reassuring. Based on my experience - highly recommended.

Dr David Hayes operated on my knee 20 odd years ago. I had completely ruptured my ACL, LCL and PCL. David carried out such good surgery for a complex operation. I have been pretty much pain free ever since recovering from the surgeries. I have close to full range of motion in my knee and have been able to participate in any sport I have wanted to since the surgery. I found he was approachable and had attitude was great too.

Dr Hayes recently re-attached my hamstring to my left leg & I am writing this review to thank him again for a great job. His bed-side manner is great, not the typical "stuffy" surgeon at all. Very approachable and I felt very confident I was in great hands from the moment I met him. I'll be running again very soon. :)

I had my first consultant with dr Hayes today. It was so easy to book. The staff were extremely accommodating, friendly and understanding. Leah was amazing, and so helpful. Dr Hayes, was absolutely fantastic. Went into a lot of detail about what my knee’s current condition is and that he is extremely confident he can fix it ! After 8 long years of suffering with knee pain, I’ll finally have it fixed! I honestly can’t thank you enough ! Really appreciate your time and efforts guys ! Great work ! I was happily refer anyone and everyone I know to Dr Hayes in a heartbeat !

I have just had a double knee replacement and am very happy with the result, with Dr Hayes kindness, skill and manner, as well as his anaesthesist who kindly consulted on the type of anaesthesia. I have already referred 4 people to him

I highly regret having surgery with Dr Hayes. I had double hip arthroscopy to remove labral tears from both of my hip sockets. After doing all of the exercises and physio, plus swimming and pilates which were all recommended, I am much worse off than before surgery. A lot more pain and much less range of motion. When I went back to Dr Hayes 8 months post surgery, he said that I had developed adhesions (scar tissue that has grown in the wrong places) and the only way to remove them is to have the surgery all over again (red flag). He never mentioned this as a potential risk before I had the surgery. I asked if I should get an MRI to confirm that is the problem, he said no and that a second surgery is the only way (another red flag). This didn't seem right, so I got a second opinion from another surgeon, who suggested I get an MRI and do a blood test, and who also said another surgery would likely make things worse. When I contacted Dr Hayes to request he look at this new MRI and to discuss it via a telephone consult (I live on the Gold Coast so it is inconvenient to drive there yet again, plus he has seen me in person twice post surgery and to examine me), I also requested that he didn't charge me yet another fee for this appointment given I have already paid him thousands for the surgery and hundreds for multiple follow up appointments, and the only reason I need to speak with him is because he seems to have made things much worse for me. He refused and said I had to go up there to see him, again. He could only find the time to see me if I paid him another couple of hundred dollars, and he couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone for a 5 minute conversation. I just wanted some help to figure out why this surgery has made my hips so much worse. I wonder now how much different my outcome and quality of life would have been if I had gone to a different surgeon in the first place.

I had meniscus surgery with him many years ago . Didn't go well. Now I find out that 16 years ago he didn't just trim the torn meniscus but removed all from the medial side. Which is not what he told me otherwise I would have looked at m transplant. Now I'm booked TKR. . Disappointing.

Unfortunately Dr Hayes did a right knee replacement on me two and half years ago, and I have had nothing but pain and still have swelling.
I have consulted another surgeon who is going to operate on the knee to make it better.
I have been severely prohibited from many activities due to the pain I am in.
You ask “why did I leave it so long”? I just kept thinking it will get better, but not so.
I would recommend people to get three quotes and ask around allot to select a surgeon.
And he charged $3,000.00 as my out of pocket fees!
This new surgeon is only $500.00 out of pocket fees.
I also did all of my exercises, lost weight and nothing really helped! I am dreading going through it again, but I want to have a better quality of life.
