Queensland Hips and Knees - Gauguin Gamboa

Earlier this year, I suffered a pretty horrific knee injury (ruptured ACL and each meniscus torn from the bone) and required a complete knee reconstruction. I was fortunate that i was referred to Dr Gamboa and could not recommend him highly enough! Six months post surgery (despite the fact that I'm 51 years of age) and I'm running and jumping already...far quicker than many people told me that I'd be able to do. Dr Gamboa is a lovely man who maintained a genuine care for my well-being but that aside, the results of his surgery (a surgery he told me was very complicated) are obvious with the results I'm already achieving. Thank you Dr Gamboa!

Dr Gamboa is compassionate and cares about achieving the best outcome. Dr Gamboa released my femoral nerve and relieved all the previous pain and numbness. Great surgeon with an excellent bedside manner.

I had a tear of my meniscus and was missing cartilage off my tibia. I trained weights really hard when I was younger and it had finally caught up with me.

Dr Gamboa suggested a knee arthroscope and microfracture of the knee and to clear any loose bodies floating around the joint. He then used a gel which covered the microfracture and hardened to protect the joint afterwards.

I have been in a ROM brace for 6 weeks and finally get to walk normally again in another two but he said I would be very pleased with the result and it is like a brand new joint now.

I had surgery in December 2021 with Dr Gamboa and my knee has never felt better. It's been over a month since the op and I don't get any pain doing any type of exercise or movement. I've had previous knee surgery and this recovery has been quick and easy. Dr Gamboa's whole team give you so much information from start to finish. Dr Gamboa is an amazing orthopaedic specialist. He is not cut happy and if he doesn’t believe surgery is the best option for you he will tell you at your consultation. He was 100% up front and honest with me and I respect him for being so honest.

I was referred to Dr Gamboa after I tore my meniscus. The operation went well. I then re-tore the meniscus about 12 months later and again Dr Gamboa operated. Post-op follow up is excellent. I have had a total of 4 left knee operations and Dr Gamboa has performed the last 2. I couldn't recommend him enough.

Great humanitarian and amazing bedside manner. After years of dealing with orthopedic specialists and miss diagnosis, due to their lack of knowledge with amputees I final found Dr Gamboa. Edit: So a couple of years on and it's even worse. Speaking with other medical practitioners none recommend meniscus surgery. Now I have bone on bone, constant swelling, and significantly reduced mobility.

If you have a meniscus issue avoid surgery, speak with other doctors.

Certainly professional, but I don't feel I was offered alternatives. Since my operation nearly 8 months ago I'm in worse pain (now in several areas of my knee, not just one) and with less mobility. Other people I've spoken with since have forgone the operation and worked on stabilising the area. Don't just go with what the surgeon suggests, seek non surgical alternative solutions first. These at least will not be so permanent with potentially greater damage.
