After having an accident in 2016 I was in pain every day. My mental health was in decline and a referral to a neurosurgeon wasn't a positive experience. Dr Williams was recommended to me and it has been the best outcome i could of wished for. He gave me all the info i needed to make a decision to have the recommended L5-S1 Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion. Dr Williams and his team did an amazing job of looking after me and what was planned to be 5 days in hospital was only 3. I was walking around on day 1 assisted and unassisted on day 2. I'm now 8 weeks post surgery and enjoying walking with my wife and the dogs most mornings. Massive thank you to Dr Williams and his team. I wish I could give you 10 stars.

I can't recommend Dr R Williams enough. I had a tumor on my spine and needed reconstructive surgery. I was very scared and travelled to Brisbane just for his care and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I called his office, his receptionist were so lovely and organised all my scans and tests. I knew I was seeing the best in his field. I could barely walk and 8 weeks post op you wouldn't think I had major spinal surgery. Dr Williams is very kind, thorough and a brilliant surgeon, I'm so grateful for the amazing job he has done on my spine.

Associate Professor Richard Williams is a very skilled spinal surgeon. I broke my back from slipping on a wet driveway. Scans were done and Dr Williams picked up that my back was broken and that I was in severe pain. He conducted further XRays and MRI and scans to ensure that his diagnosis was correct. He operated on me on 9 March 2023 and despite being in excruisiating pain I felt that the break was fixed immediately after surgery and the pain I had was just surgery pain. I have a lot of hardware in my spine but this surgery has been very successful. The man is a genius and I cannot recommend him high enough. He does not go in gung ho and he checks and plans how to fix your problem. If I could give him 10/10 i would. Lets hope Associate Professor Richard Williams is around for a long time to help others. He is a gifted surgeon and I would not allow anyone else to operate on my spine. We are very lucky to have such a fine surgeon in Brisbane. And thankyou to his 2 amazing receptionists Michelle and Jess for making this very painful journey run so smoothly. I am grateful to get my life back. Thankyou Catherine O'Donnell

After suffering many years of lower back pain, I saw Dr Williams today and thank god I did! He is extremely helpful and caring. Dr Williams and his team organised all my scans before seeing him so that my appointment ran smoothly. I really loved that you just see him. He was able to diagnosis and treat my back and I am just so thankful for everything he has done. I would happily recommend him to anyone! Wonderful experience and life changing outcome! Thank you so much Dr Williams and team!

I am currently laying here in Brisbane Private Hospital after having an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion and Right C6 nerve root exploration. Performed by Assoc. Professor Richard Williams. I can not thank him and the staff at BriSpine enough for their treatment of me during consultations and my surgery. They went above and beyond to build a rapport with me and to make everything as comfortable and informative as possible. Dr Williams is an extremely generous and humble man and I am honoured to have been in such professional hands. This surgery has changed my life. Although I'm still in recovery I can't recommend him and his practice highly enough. I had been suffering with this condition for over 8 years back and forth from Doctor to Doctor. But upon meeting Dr Williams last year, that's when I knew I was in the best hands possible. And him and his team made this surgery possible for me. And I will forever be grateful for the opportunity. And to live a painfree, healthier and happier life with my young family.

A very understanding and compassionate surgeon with an excellent team... empathetic, caring and professional. I've had two back surgeries with Prof Williams. He took the time to explain the whole process, before and after... as daunting as surgery was, I was never scared. Totally recommend! Xx

I underwent neck surgery by Dr Williams which was very successful and eliminated excruciating nerve pain. I was back at work after two weeks. Dr William's confidence is very reassuring.

My name is Mark Henderson, I'm currently 58, and Dr Williams operated on me as a public patient in 2010 at the P.A. Hospital for a corrective procedure after osteomyelitis left me with a 20° kink in my spine at T11-T12 where it had fused naturally after the infection had been treated for 12 months. I didn't have pain, was able to mobilise well, and despite another consultant (Dr Laherty) saying that for those reasons there was a strong case to argue that they should do nothing, I was told I had to have this surgery to correct that kink at T11-T12. I had a sub pedicle osteotomy and Harrington rods from L2-T8 were inserted. I struggled with physio afterwards but continued physio and hydrotherapy for 2 years afterwards on top of my excersises at home. On my final post surgical reviews I didn't get to actually consult with Dr Williams, only his registars, was told to keep up with the physio, that with time I'd improve despite my poor recovery, and that my fusion was satisfactory. It took me 5 years before I could walk further than 50 meters without a wheeliewalker or walking staff however, and I still can't walk more than 100m without a long staff or a rest. Long story short, a person close to me remarked in surprise one day about 3 years after my surgery after seeing me trying to stand straight by bending at the knees in my underwear 'what happened to your bum? you don't have a bum!' My lower back and bum is totally flat, making my posture bent at a forward angle (hence bending at the knees to make my back perpendicular to the ground...), a condition called 'Flatback' caused by poor surgical alignment when instrumentation is put in place. I struggle every day of my life with debilitating pain mobilising for even the simplest tasks, and although I've been left terrified by the thought of further surgery, the only treatment for spinal flatback is further surgery to restore the correct alignment of the spine. I'm now 58 years of age, and the thought of another 14 years of 'this' terrifies me as much as the thought of another back surgery. What do I do?
I didn't want to post a bad review, but after only seeing Dr Williams respond to positive 5 star reviews (which surely is wonderful for them as a result of Dr Williams skills), I've felt obliged to write my experiences.

Didn’t help at all made me feel very much invalidated. Kept asking about things that weren’t relevant to what I need help with on my referral.
I’ve waited over four months to see him for him just to make me feel even worse about my conditions and mental health.
He wasn’t compassionate or understanding definitely don’t recommend. Very disappointed.

As a work cover assessment specialist extremely corrupt arrogant lies to please workcover to get paid big money for reports.
Absolutely no adherance to any hypocritic oath as a medical professional.
Be aware.
I had major spinal issues as a medical professional myself with injury at work.
Was in a wheelchair several epidurals nerve blocks and this corrupt specialist said i had 0% impairment and i and not the only medical professional who has experienced this.
Shame on you and workcover enjoy your money hope its worth it but amongst us and the legal workforce your reputation proceeds.
Seems like if i was your private patient different story.
