Wooden Horse Restaurant

We had an exceptional meal for two on a quiet evening, on our way to the airport. Service was prompt and friendly but not intrusive. Both of our entries & mains were excellent. Beef cheek, pictured, was sensational, amazing texture.

In this most unexpected spot, the Wooden Horse is a gem! Beautiful good, good wine selection and great staff. A special occasion, a last dinner before the airport, catching up with friends….This has something to offer that is local, unique and well executed.

Not sure why haven't come across this restaurant until recently...

Absolutely blown away with the food, vibe and service.

Highlights were
Lamb ribs in sticky soy sauce with fried rice cakes. Perfectly cooked and seasoned lamb ribs and no bones! Rice cakes were unexpectedly well paired in texture for the dish. Very tasty will order again.

Watermelon with cheese and macadamia. A perfect starter that's both luxuriously creamy and nutty, yet refreshing at the same time. Delightful mouthfuls of fun.

The wagyu steak chefs cut was the main and star of the show. Perfectly cooked steak from edge to edge. Tender. Juicy. Flavourful. With mustard mayo and thick jus. The hand cut chips were impressive. Crunchy yet not dry inside, best hand cut chips I've had in a long time.

Service was friendly, attentive and food comes out in good time.
Can't wait to be back soon. And they are right outside the train and bus station for convenience.

OH MY GOD! This restaurant is one of the best I've been to. Starting from the waitress who was so delicate and attentive that you definitely feel incredibly special even after the worst day, to the food that just amazes with the variety and richness of flavors that you hardly get to taste every day even in other restaurants . Wooden Horse definitely deserves to be on the top list of Brisbane restaurants.HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The mocktails were particularly well-crafted. A standout moment was having one of the skilled chefs share the dish’s flavors and layers. This establishment provides an elevated dining experience in Brisbane.

Wow! I've been here three times now, Friday, had 5 Star service and meals, absolutely amazing food, not your average, Rather a step up and different without being pretentious. Then went for their Wednesday night steak night, oh my... These steaks are the best!!! And cooked so well, same wait staff that are fantastic, attentive without being intrusive. But wait, last night, we went for their burger Tuesday night special. Honestly, I went for the double smash wagu beef burger and I could only say that it was the best burger I remember having. And so so cheap for best ingredients, handmade everything burgers. The chef came out to say hello and check on the meals and told us they make even the bacon in house.
Do yourself a favor and give this place a go, be it Tuesday night burgers, Wednesday night steaks, or special 5 star menu the other nights.

This is now my new regular place to go!

4 starters - The tostada special was great! Especially the mushroom one, flavour bomb! Cornbread was great with the jalapeno, yum! Warm olives was delish along with the tasty empanada. Mains, we had the snapper and pork belly. Both were great but definitely felt the starters over shon them. Dessert we had the Davidson plum and peach cobbler dessert. Holy yum yum yum! Go for it. It'll change your life. Enjoy guys 😋

We recently had dinner at the Wooden Horse and can’t recommend it higher! The service was great and the food was incredible!! Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu soon.

My sister told me about the mushroom steak that they had on their plant menu and I really wanted to try it. I finally got to go and it was delicious. The mushroom steak had a woody umami flavour mixed with a smokey flavour. The pan con tomate was a bit sour for my liking. If they toned down the sourness on the sauce that they used it would have hit the spot. We also had their non alcoholic drinks and they really complemented our meals. The desserts were also delicious. We got both the peanut butter pudding and the autumn crumble. I was very impressed with the peanut butter pudding as I'm not a big fan of peanuts. But they were delectable. I would love to come back here again to try their other dishes on their plant based menu.

This was excellent. My husband and I (and our 17 month old baby) were looking for a proper meal before taking a 13 hour flight home to Los Angeles. We were enticed by a previous review with photos of steak and chips. We ordered exactly that along with the bread and cultured butter. Everything was perfection. The steak was cooked perfectly and the house made fries were nostalgic. The aioli was so good my little one was dipping his finger in it to continue enjoying once he finished my “chips” (fries in my language lol). The restaurant environment was very cozy and warm. The perfect vibe for a cozy dinner (without the baby it would be described as romantic) I don’t know anyone in the area to recommend this place to but I hope that this review inspires someone to indulge. The server went above and beyond when it came to my husband’s odd caffeine requests. I hope we find ourselves back in Brisbane to enjoy this place again.

I decided to give this place a shot and I had a great night with my partner there. The atmosphere was just right, warm and genuine. The food presentation and service match the price point and it was easy to see that the staff do like the place they are in.

We had an amazing time at the Wooden Horse. I know you are supposed to post pictures of the food before you eat it but it was so good that we ate the mains before I remembered to take the photograph.. I had the crumbed pork chop burnt pear sauce.and it was so delicious. The bread for starters was amazing as was the homemade rhubarb pies for dessert. We had fantastic and friendly service. It was great food in a vibrant restaurant. I would highly recommend it!

Delicious food, awesome service!

We shared the beetroot arancini, then I had the special which was a grilled oyster mushroom steak, I swapped the fries for greens. My partner had the supreme pizza. Our server was wonderful, I've forgotten his name but he helped me choose from the many vegan options.

The food is awesome. Amazing vegan options, fresh, vibrant ingredients. The beetroot arancini was perfect to share between two people. They were absolutely delicious. The pizza had a beautiful crust, and my oyster mushroom steak was incredible.

The drinks menu is also impressive, many decent wines and beers to choose from. There is also good-looking cocktail menu. We had the tap lager which I think was called Golden Boy. I'm a simple person, I love a good tap lager and this did not disappiont. Clean, easy drinking and lovely with the food.

We will surely be back again soon.

Incredible pizza and vegan options. The vegan menu is fully thought out and not an afterthought. The service was also stellar. The waiters were all super nice, had good recommendations and great conversation. Will be coming back. Photo shows all vegan food!!
