Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS)

Had robotic Prostate removal last Wednesday to treat prostate cancer. The treatment was first class from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. Every single staff member I interacted with was professional, knowledgeable and understanding. Well done and thank you for taking such excellent care of me.

The Herston STARS Building is a shining example of a cutting-edge medical facility. With its striking architecture, patient-centric design, advanced medical tech and dedicated staff, it sets a new standard for healthcare excellence. The facility not only meets the needs of patients but also uplifts the community it serves. I love its greenery and dining spaces, as a visitor I thoroughly enjoyed the architecture and indoor and outdoor communal spaces.

We were referred here by the Children’s Hospital Brisbane for modifications to my daughter’s electric wheelchair. The engineering staff were so patient taking the time to understand what modifications were required and the quality of the workmanship and the attention to detail was far beyond what we ever imagined. This is an amazing facility with amazing staff. We cannot thank you enough. Our daughter now has a functioning wheelchair she can use as she pursues her dream of becoming a chef

I had a day procedure yesterday and would like to thank all of the many staff who looked after me. Every one of them made me feel very comfortable and were extremely attentive to my needs. I would highly recommend Stars Hospital. Thanks...Roy.

Excellent example of a modern Australian public hospital. We should be proud that we, Australians, can still afford to publicly fund health care on this level. But for how long our deep pockets are increasing meeting ever increasingly long arms. A big thank you to all the staff could not fault very very nice and professional people.

I was so scared and nervous when I learned I had to go in for a procedure. The staff from the time you enter the door at the front to go up the lifts made me feel welcome. The check in procedure was simple and all done on the I pad, the reception team fabulous. From there I waited and then was greeted by some lovely caring nurses that made me feel listened to safe and ready to face this op. From there I went Into a small private room where at every part of the surgical procedure I was spoken to by the doctor themselves and they explained what they were doing. The theatre had beautiful zen music playing and a screen to watch nature on as you drifted off. This is a wonderful Calming idea. The after care at Stars blew me away! The nurses as all nurses do went above and beyond as well as every member from food service and preparation, cleaners, orderlies. The doctors let me know how the operation went personally. The touch screen tv, call button, radio and food ordering service monitors were very modern but easy to use. And last but not least the food delicious. This is a five star hospital...I do not write a review unless they are worth writing about and this the STARS hospital is one of those places.

First visit. The hospital is clean and modern, great views from my window. I was extremely anxious about my procedure but from pre-admission (Debra) to theatre and anaesthesia staff, recovery and ward staff, each and everyone were friendly and supportive. Ward 6B is where I was put. Tim my nurse was friendly, as are the others ..and a special mention for LILLIAN the pharmacist who is bright and bubbly and who went out of her way to get my meds sorted so I can leave as early as possible in the morning. What a great team of staff. Thank you each and every one of you. 🙏🍾🥂

EYE CLINIC: 9/11/22. Not happy. How can you ask for and get an early appt and already be running so late. Not good for patients. Heaven help those with later appts. What time will they get seen ✨✨ two stars only.

Had my enlarged prostate attended to last week there. Incredible place and the staff are unbeatable... fantastic attention and nothing was to much for the nurse's.

Absolutely fantastic. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. I thank al involved in my part here. Definitely recommend

My partner stayed in ward 6B the overnight surgerical stay area. All staff from beginning to end were amazing. Brilliant and happy workers that check in regularly and make sure your aware and informed. Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.

Had day appointment for an endoscopy and could not fault the caring and committed staff Everything was like a 5 star hotel even heated blankets, yummy sandwiches and hot coffee. Nurses and doctors were so attentive and I felt 100% that I was special to them. Thank you all for a great experience 👏

I had leg surgery last week at Stars.

Staff and facilities are amazing. Cannot rate this place more highly. Hope I never have to go back but I know I will "enjoy " my stay if I need to

I'm just home from a 1 night stay for a procedure. Such a friendly and highly efficient bunch of people working here. Special mention for one of my many nurses, Sam who was a lovely guy. I was also pleasantly surprised that even though it's a public hospital I had a private room.

Shout out to the Nursing staff you guys are incredible. Felt very comfortable and just fantastic all round.

Room was A1 quality, never have I had my own in a public hospital, it was such a lovely change of pace. The food was really good as far as hospitals go too.

A special mention goes to my anaesthetist Holly or Chloe, I was pretty zonked out. Her bedside manner was out of this world. Very comforting and reassuring. The work ethic displayed was impeccable thanks for everything!

Went to STARS hospital yesterday for 2 procedures. The facilities are nice and clean.

I didn’t have to wait very long before I was called in and by the time I had my gown on, the medical team were at my bedside ready to take me into theatre. Throughout the entire process, all the staff were incredibly kind and caring.

At a time when the medical industry is so short staffed and overworked, I was very impressed with every interaction and their level of care.

A big Thank you to the team who took care of me yesterday, you are amazing!

Going to any hospital for a consult or procedure can be daunting, but I cannot rate my experience any higher at Stars.
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The specialists were awesome, the cafe was reasonably priced and the coffee was great.
The whole place was clean and refreshing, and the reception staff are the best, in person and on the phone.
Thank you. I have to return next year so I wish you a wonderful Christmas break.

Spend the day yesterday at STARS for my first cancer treatment.
I’m not one for expressing my feelings but my heart is filled with so much gratitude.
Every single person I interacted with was so amazing. They behaved more like friends rather than just “nurses, doctors, cleaners, receptionist”.
Made me sad when they said “you can go home now” I just wanted to stay longer.
Again, thanks to all staff, you guys are the best.

I am so impressed by STARS. The set up is amazing. And super easy to check in. The waiting area is great with free tea,coffee and biscuits for while you are waiting. The screen is up to tell you how late the doctors are running so you are kept well informed. The staff are all really lovely and welcoming.

I did wait over hour for my surgeon but he was worth the wait. He was so thorough and really listened to what I had to say. He was super easy to talk to, and easy on the eye ;) I really don't mind waiting when I know they are providing adequate care! Only downfall is parking in the building is super expensive. Next time I'll street park and walk there.
