We were passing through and stopped for dinner! What a great staff and customer service! Clean, fun country decor, play cubby house outside for kids, could not see a change table but apart from that was a great family stop. Food was great and well priced! Thankyou

Just spent a week here, I must thank Greg the manager, all the restaurant/ bar staff and Rick for making our stay so comfortable. Nothing was a bother, and all staff bent over backwards to meet all our need's.Clean room, comfortable bed and all in all a great hotel. Meals were all very good. Rolph the owner, has done a fantastic job with this 130 odd year old pub renovating it to the condition it is in today. I would recommend the Aussie to anyone. Good old fashioned service with a smile. Thank you all so much. We will be back when in town next trip for sure.

We just had lunch here today, the best steak, perfectly cooked medium, so tender. Chips and salad beautiful. I got mushroom gravy and the garlic cream sauce. YUM YUM all great. Thank you chef.

Clean Friendly and Well priced. Food was great and enjoyed some live music.
Dinner on the balcony watching the sunset is a must. Thanks Australian. We’ll done for making our stay fun and relaxed.

Nice country pub with good food and comfortable accommodation. Two recommendations for improvement though. The blind in room 3 doesn’t cover the window properly so we had people looking in our room from the veranda while we were in bed, also if you don’t get better window coverings please turn off the veranda lights as they made it difficult to sleep ☺

Awesome cold beer. Burgers to die for. Mrs said shnitty was a tad over cooked but still delicious! Also had clean toilets. This was a hard thing to find on this trip

Went in Wednesday night and got a parmi and beer for only $19 so wasn't expecting much but it was by far one of the best I've had and the size of half the plate, the service was just as good too. Will definitely be going back

Never stayed overnight. This is the real thing when it comes to true old Aussie pubs. Many weekends in the 80s I lived in similar when I was shearing through eastern states.
The couple of hours I spent there was great
Food was great, beer was cold

We really enjoyed our lunch here. Menu was not extensive but adequate. Quality fresh seafood was cooked to perfection and better than many coastal seafood restaurants and great value. Looking forward to our next trip to Gympie and another meal at the Australian Hotel.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. My steak came out perfectly on medium rare as I had asked for, and the coleslaw and potatoes were absolutely amazing sides. I'll definitely be back again.

Lovely place for dinner, great atmosphere, fantastic friendly service (seriously can not fault anyone's customer service skills! Everyone was lovely to deal with and super friendly!). Every meal was delicious and the food and drinks are well priced so you can enjoy yourself without getting ripped off, I will definitely be going back every chance I get!!

As always great feed over looking the sunset. Best place to watch the sun go down.

This is one of the best meals. It is freshly cooked and we love the atmosphere. Definitely recommend this lovely pub. Can't go past the steak, chips and salad, yummy. A must do eating place 🤩

Thank you for a great weekend. My partner and I stayed at your hotel on the 14-16 March and found our room very clean, as were the shared facilities. We dined in your restaurant on Saturday night which was very busy and the food delicious. Most importantly we found the staff very friendly with a good sense of humour.

We just had an awesome meal at The Australian tonight. I had a huge parmy which was delicious. The chef is very knowledgeable and accommodating with gluten free meals. My son said his GF crumbed fish and chips was the best he has ever had.
Family friendly. Recommended.

Had a function here recently where we invaded their veranda. Great service, friendly staff, excellent food and they were very attentive and good senses of humor. Owner said they’ve renovated lately and it shows. Will be my regular stop for a pint when I’m in Gympie from now on.

I recently went to Gympie intending to stay there overnight. I stayed at a fantactastcly restored historical hotel called the Australian hotel. I ended up staying four nights, rooms are like 3/4 star. It's a great place for a base if you want to day trips. Situated a short walk to the gympie's cbd, lots to do and look at. What the most impressive was the publican John Balkin truly one of
most amazing men ive ever met. He bent over backwards to help. He would personally bring my order from the fantastic restaurant. He would ask if I needed anything and even though he was run off his feet he stop and have a general conversation. Ive been around the world and this hotel run by John Balkin is the top 5. I've been to lots more fancier Hotels. The welcome and atmosphere is second to none.

My partner and i had the reef and beef. ( mine med rare , hers well done). The steak was cooked perfectly and the vegies were so fresh and vibrant. Staff were very friendly. 10/10.
