Sundowner Motel Hotel

From the first phone call, to arriving and being greeted by the lovely receptionist, everything just flowed from beginning to the end.
The restaurant staff just wonderful, very efficient and polite, and loved how they didn't bother you whilst eating but when passing our table just a smile and a everything ok which was lovely.10/10.

My girlfriends and i had a night out in the restaurant on Friday night. The service was very good and our waiter, although busy was attentive to our needs. The food was great, I had barramundi with Jerusalem artichoke puree and artichoke crisps, mushroom crisps brocollini and the skin of the barramundi was also crispy. I've not had such a well presented and tasty meal at a bistro like this before 10/10. I would definitely order it again, its just a shame I don't live in Whyalla. My friends all had different dishes and all talked about how good they were. They come here often and have always had a good experience dining there.

We originally booked a disabled access room for 3 nights and decided to add another as it was a great room and we decided there was more we could see. Unfortunately that room with adjoining internal door (lockable) had already been booked by a family so we had to move to another room across the courtyard.

If anything the second room (#1) was even better than the first! (#34 from memory). Both rooms were light and airy had huge areas to move around in. Room 1 in particular had a massive bed!

All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, right from the very first call to book through to the dining room staff.

Great value for money - great stay!

Very clean rooms, 2 beds one room. TV, mini fridge & coffee/ tea making available in room.
Staff very friendly, hotel few steps away..good price meals & drinks, & bottle depth.
Plenty of parking.

Had a great feed here with the old man thebother week. Full hot and cold veg/ salad bar also.

I stayed here overnight: the staff were super-friendly and very helpful with my requests. Best of all: the place was so quiet overnight! Best night's (travel) sleep in a long time.

This is the 3rd year in a row we have stayed here. Last year we were not happy with the cleanliness or our meal & therefore wrote a bad review & said we would not stay there again.
Was contacted by the manager & asked to reconsider as he had managed to rectify some of his problems.
So glad we did, room was very clean, very comfy bed & great size.
Meal had certainly improved from last year, a good size tasty pub meal.
Will return again next year.

After a full-on day, I had a lovely vegan bolognese for dinner. You have full use of the salad bar when you buy any main. For vegans, the salad bar had roast vegetables, steamed vegetables and a bean salad. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Wonderful. My friend had coffin bay oysters, which she says were amazing.

The rooms are really good and mattresses are very comfortable only criticisms was the continental breakfast was very bland and very basic, being Australian they had no Vegemite (not happy). The staff in the restaurant and room cleaners were very pleasant and attentive to our requests

Excellent service and food. Evtensive menu. Very clean rest rooms. All a very pleasant surprise.

The meals here can be a bit hit and miss, but this time, Wow! The meals were excellent. Reasonably priced and good sized servings. Salad was fresh and tasty. Tap beer was nice and cold.

We had dinner there, passing through town and wanted a quick pub meal, im not usually the kind of person to leave reviews but I felt the need to go out of my way to comment on the absolutely amazing 5 star staff, we had mentioned to them that we were just passing through in a hurry and I dont know if it was just luck but they had our meals out within 10 minutes. The meals were lovely, best duck I've ever eaten, honestly cannot rave enough! Special mention to our waiters, actual conversationalists, service that you don't get often in Australia purely because wait staff don't rely on tips, they just seemed to be the Cherry on top of an already amazing venue. the atmosphere was lovely, I know my partner and I will be recommending them to all our local friends at every chance we get going forward! Thank you!

It is a quality motel, which is very clean and it has been refurbished. It is great value for money. Staff are very friendly. We left behind our chromecast and they called us, in order to post it. The restaurant in the motel offers affordable and tasty meals. This restaurant is very popular among locals. Therefore, we suggest to go early for dinner.
