Ban Thai restaurant

We were out of towners just stopping through for the night. Had low expectations going in… I’ve never been so wrong!
This place has ruined me for future Thai meals in Australia. This was so ridiculously good, I was left gobsmacked. This is without doubt the tastiest, freshest most delicious Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. I am so annoyed that it is around 1000km from my place - but in my head, I am thinking it is still worth the drive.
We had the Thai honey chicken (pictured) and the ginger chicken. While the honey chicken was amazing, the ginger chicken was to die for.
If I could give this place 6 stars I would.

Food is immaculate. Pay cash and receive 10% off for tax evasion is immaculate. All in all what’s not to love.

We were visiting Goulburn and found this restaurant. Chose it from reviews. All the Thai restaurants in the local area had similar ratings, but chose this one, because the most people had rated it.
It did not disappoint.
This place is bustling and no wonder.

We had a huge drive from Lennox head and arrived exhausted in Goulburn. A quick search for a highly rated take away brought us to Ban Thai. For a Wednesday the place was packed with diners and quite a few people waiting to grab take away as well. We were too tired to go anywhere else and figured it must be good so we ordered cashew chicken, ginger beef and spicy fried rice. The lovely lady took our order and advised us of a thirty minute wait due to the volume of customers. Twelve minutes later our food was ready and we bolted for the motel. It was simply the best and most authentic Thai takeaway both of us have ever had. Absolutely perfect! It left us both satiated and vowing to eat here again. So get in there, order before you turn up for take away and try everything! Superb food, lovely staff and a great place to feed your needs.

The best Thai in Goulburn yet (that i've tried).
Very tasty and good portions of meat and vegetable. Very satisfying and kept me full throughout the day. Very hospitable staff and great ambience as well. Definitely recommend and will come back to try more of their menu.

We stopped over at Ban Thai for dinner during our road trip from Sydney to Melbourne. Absolutely loved the food! Fresh, authentic, good serve size, quick and served with a smile!! Very much comparable to good Thai we get in Major cities.

Very prompt service. Got the vegan options. Entre was deep fried vegies, satay tofu. Almost sneaking themselves. For mains the yellow curry vegetable. And the pad Thai dams egg. Great feed. Bursting

We had the red duck curry and pork belly stir fried with Chinese broccoli tonight. The portions were huge and we had leftovers. The curry was mild but flavourful with a good mix of vegetables in it. The pork belly at some other places can sometimes be too spicy but not here.

This meal was only around $40 so also very affordable - we always come here when in Goulburn and you should too!

Stopped here without prior research and was pleasently surprised. The place itself is quite simple. They have garden and internal seating. The food was delicously authentic thai combined with kind and fast service. (Ordered tom yam and red curry). Whilst most items are with meat, the staff is happy to meet your vegetarian and even vegan needs. The portions are massive so be aware when you order. 😆
The price was reasonable.

We grabbed takeaway on our way through town. Staff friendly and service was quick. Food was absolutely delicious, we order Panang Curry and Crispy Chicken. They also catered to our dietary needs. If we were in town longer we would have ordered again.

It is a nice tucked away restaurant and bustling with people. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious.

Sensational Thai food in country town NSW.

I've lost count on how many dishes of massaman beef curry I've had to date, anywhere in Oz or overseas. But, let me know if you can find a better CHUNKY Massaman beef curry, anywhere in Australia or even Thailand.

Crispy chicken was good too, complemented by some Oz and Kiwi wines and super friendly service.

Good sticky rice dessert too.

Nothing fancy about the venue nor "historically" serving the community since those yesteryears, but you can feel the happiness vibes from all patrons and staff. That was sensational Thai meal, all the way in country town New South Wales.

Here's to immigration, well done Goulburn, NSW, Australia.

Must make my way back here sometimes in the future.

Excellent customer service and also the food was great. Great hospitality and very friendly cozy ambience. What to mention the lady who served us was exceptionally professional. Definitely recommend if you're looking for Thai restaurant when you're driving past. Still I believe fried calamari rings were exceptionally tasty and we ended up ordering extra after having mains!!!

Delicious Thai food and great prices. I went for their lunch special and had a plate of Massaman Beef Curry with rice and a can of soft drink for only $12. I also ordered a serve of curry puffs (2 to eat in and 2 to takeaway) and a pad Thai. The pad Thai was only $13 at lunch and their lunch specials start at $10. There were only a few people dining in when I was there but lots of takeaway orders. I would like to go again for dinner and try more of their dishes but I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving good Thai food in Goulburn.

Absolutely delicious Thai food, couldn't fault it! There is a cute courtyard out the back, and the service was great.
