I owe everything to this doctor. He is such a good soul he’s the best with kids. My daughter’s eczema has gone away since the day we went to James Ly. Thank you so much for everything.

Dr James Ly is one of the best doctors I've met. He really takes good care of his patients. My son suffered extreme eczema and has been on and off from school. We've tried every cream and ointment our son's pedia has prescribed before but nothing worked for him. After applying the creams Dr Ly prescribed, his skin has greatly improved. We also noticed his mood has been better. He is also sleeping very well. We are very happy to discover Dr James Ly. I don't mind having a long wait as been reviewed here because every visit is worthwhile. I also commend the respectful and kind receptionists. Kudos to all of you!

Amazing doctor for children eczema. My daighter has been suffering from it for 7 years, tried everything but only went away after a month of treatment from this practice.

I would highly recommend them for any skin problems.

Great doctor, and the receptionist is nice, however I give it 4 stars not because of the people working there but the overall experience I had as a patient. For preface I came here to receive treatment on severe eczema as an adult (thought this was worth mentioning in case anyone else was thinking about coming here).

Clinic/Waiting time:
First of all even with a booking in advance the waiting time is LONG, because this is a very popular clinic but there is only one doctor (and few seats). When I say long, I mean expect to wait at least 1-2 hours before seeing the doctor (but lets be realistic, he is a general GP and this is typically the wait time for ANY doctor). I honestly recommend booking early, paying your consultation fee, then going for a look around Cabramatta for some food and drinks. I had to wait an additional 30 mins for my cream to be mixed at the chemist (this is important if you're going for ezcema).

Treatment/cost:
The treatment here is costly if you're going for eczema ($85 for consultation in CASH ONLY and ~$250-$300 for my creams and ointments which needed to be purchased again for prolonged skincare) but IT WORKS. My skin has been looking a LOT better since I followed their strict skin routine and the doctor didn't take long to know what I needed at all- he recognised the symptoms at a glance. However if you still think this is pricey, to put it into perspective, a consultation fee for a dermatologist is ~$250 let alone the treatment (which is only used as a last resort for treating very severe cases of eczema because it may require shutting the immune system off in order to halt the reaction) and seeing a local gp for my usual steroid cream was really ineffective by this point.

To conclude, I highly recommend seeing this doctor if you have ezcema specifically, especially if it is acting up badly and to prevent future issues. I hope this helped ^^

I booked an appointment in 2020 and when I got there I waited 2 hours. The receptionist did not care whenever I asked questions and instead was just talking to people that speak the same language as her (Vietnamese). However the prescribed medication and ointments were effective but bit pricey. 2nd time I went back, the receptionist is a lot better than the previous one.

I was seeing Dr James Ly for multiple years as an adult with severe atopic dermatitis. He would prescribe me multiple creams and ointments (that you could only get at the compound pharmacy next door) that would be a temporary solution but always had to come back after a couple of months. Not once in this period did he talk to me about recent breakthroughs in the eczema research community like dupixent or refer me to a dermatologist. Both he and his receptionist are friendly, and his prescriptions may work for seasonal / very mild skin conditions, but I would not recommend seeing him for severe skin condition treatment.

Booked in at 11:20am. Arrived there at 10:50am. Collected medicare details then asked us to pay 75dollars for consulation as they dont bulkbill! They only accept Cash! Then got told to have lunch first and be back for an hour... got back and waited for another 1 1/2hr!!!! For a 5mins consultation! Dr. Ly is ok but seemed rushed! Gave us the same cream and stuff for me and my sister with the receptionist explaining the routine!... its ok but dont really recommend unless u r desperate..

Have been taking my son to see Dr James Ly for his moderately severe eczma. Prescribed A, B, C cream, cost on average $240
and consult fee to be paid upfront cash.
And the cream only works temporary so you have to go back to get more and pay more.

I have stopped taking my son there and have gone to a Dermatologist who conducted skin and blood tests, also discussed dupixent as an option, at least he conducted tests and provided various options. Dr James Ly did not.

For eczma, i would suggest to see a Specialist Dermatologist instead.

The receptionist here is a little difficult and poor with explanation and littered with contradictions, they tend to make up excuses which, I've had the pleasure to call them out on a few times already. "The best one was well the practice was closed during Covid (This was in Feb 2023, and I inform them I was here last week for a script).

For a place that does not bulk bill the patients should expect better customer service and reliability.

If you really do need the cream A/B/C just get the Jar and take it to your local compound chemist and they will work out the formulae. Afterwards you can get the script and take it to your local GP and if worst comes to worst probably better to visit a dermatologist who specialises in skin conditions than a GP in all honesty.
