I’ve been going to this place for years, the older gentleman has been hairdressing for 40 years or so, I am very fussy, I have very long hair, and I have never had a problem.
The first time I went here I was paranoid about a hairdresser cutting too much off (as had happened to be before) I wanted an inch off, so I asked for a centimetre off to be safe. The man double checked the length I was after BEFORE making a cut, I said I was happy with the cm he showed me. He finished cutting my entire head of long hair (in layers might I add!) but because he had only taken off a cm (at my request) I still had a fair few split ends. I jokingly said that I had overcompensated, he then cut my entire head of hair all over again - layers and all, and got rid of all of my split ends, at the end of all that, he charged me $18. - for essentially 2 x very annoying hair cuts. LEGEND.
That was probably almost 10 years ago now, and the prices have gone up reasonably since then - I think I pay $25-$30 now, but I couldn’t be happier.

The old gentleman haircutting skills cannot be questioned. Friendly staff, quick service, affordable price. Top notch!

This place does not even deserve one star. Went there on Sunday for a trim and the lady who did my hair left it longer on one side than the other, my ‘layers’ were more like different levels of chunks and the rest of my hair was left uneven. Went back to get a refund and they were closed, granted I went back on Boxing Day but I got this cut for a wedding and she completely botched it. Also they quote $13 for a men and women’s cut however once you tell them what you want the price suddenly doubles. Would not recommend this place at all, and would advise people to not go there.

I got the worst haircut of my life from this place. I was in Blacktown Westpoint visiting a friend and needed to get my hair cut so I went to Hairplay on the bottom level of the shopping centre. I chose this salon because it was clearly indicated $18 for a womens cut. I walked in and spoke to a very rude woman who said that the haircut would be $20 without any explanation why my haircut would be more expensive. I didn't want to complain so I sat and waited for my turn. I showed the hairdresser a picture of what I wanted, a shoulder-length bob with minimal layering.

The man started by grabbing chunks of my hair and cutting off long locks at a time, which resulted in the worst layering ever. By the end of it, I wanted to cry because my hair was basically two levels, very short on the top and very long at the back. The eptiome of terrible layering. I was also tying to hold my breath the whole time because of the man's strong body odour, which was very unpleasant. I saw chunks of my long hair on the floor as I stood up and held back tears. I thanked him politely and went to pay because I didn't want to make a fuss. When I went to pay, the rude lady charged me $25. At this point, I really had had enough. I asked why it was so expensive and she made up some ridiculous excuse that it was because of the extra layering that I had asked for. I payed her because at that point I just wanted to get out of there, then I ran to my car. As I stood in the carpark and looked at my reflection in my car window I was horrified, then I threw it up in a messy updo and drove home crying.

It has been a month now since the haircut from hell and it hasn't started to grow back so I recently went to a hairdresser at Chatswood Chase where I paid $117 to get it fixed. The hairdresser could only fix a little bit of it, but these days I prefer to keep my hair up in a messy bun. Hopefully one day it will grow out and I will gain my confidence back.

If you can learn anything from this story, it's to never get a $20 haircut, and NEVER ever go to Hairplay hairdressers at Westpoint Blacktown.

Kids hair cut is $10. They don't tell you it's for kids under 9.

Rude ladies who will give you the ugliest haircut that you ever had. Will never ever visit them again.

They don't even deserve any star rating, very bad service,and they double up their charges.
