Martindale Hall

This home is magnificent! You really feel your self step back into the late 1800s Australia. There is a fee to get in but it's worth it and I'm sure all the proceeds go to the upkeep of the home.

Very interesting part of South Australian history. And where they filmed " Picnic at Hanging Rock " many years ago.

We loved our visit, brilliant history, a window back in time.

Beautiful old house with incredible history and very well maintained. $18 entry but you are keeping history alive! Just outside of the historic town of Mintaro and well worth the visit.

A truly remarkable piece of history. Do your research before your visit and enjoy.
We spent at least a few hours here. Really enjoyed learning about the past.
I’d love some better access and some guided tour options with more access to other areas.
It’s great that it has been preserved.

A beautiful home to visit. Fully furnished plus all the pictures and ornaments. Gives you a great feel for how life may have been in Victorian times and later.

Magnificent building, beautiful rooms and furnished on a grand scale. Great you can walk around the whole place and see it as it was. A must visit attraction $18 P/Adult.

It was excellent.
The commentary brilliant.
It's great to see what it was like back in the day, and what they went through.
The staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
I truly recommend going here.

It gives you a glimpse of how rich people lived back in time and you seem to be transported to their era. Many people have complained about the fees; true that the fee could be little less like $10 pp but it’s still worth it. I truly enjoyed my trip.

A must see ...it was lovely to visit this beautiful homestead and walk back through yesterday..built in 1879 fof 30,000 pounds ...in Georgian style 32 rooms stunning decorated and maintained as it was . Marindale Hall is located in Minato SA

Such a worthwhile thing to do whilst in the Clare Valley. Situated outside historic town of Mintaro, also definitely worth a visit. The manor house is in immaculate condition and furnished as it was in the day. Really enjoyed the experience

Historic building with entry to see, all set on a scenic estate, there is a fee to get in, & no bags or backpacks allowed. It set back in time to show how they lived & what they used, beautifully reconstructed. Signeage to area is good, & not to far from the maze.

Exploring Martindale Hall is like being transported to Europe!
It has been beautifully maintained and restored with priceless treasures still on display. The grandeur is an oddity especially considering how isolate the estate would have been at its construction. We arrived at opening on a Sunday morning and had the place to explore for ourselves. Have been wanting to visit for ages and recommend that you do also!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Hall and grounds. Such a wonderful piece of history preserved in a beautiful location ❤ we would love to go on a guided tour of the hall one day if those are ever offered!

A must visit when in Clare valley.

Wandering through this well preserved mansion is like time travelling back to the 18th century. Every room has a detailed description of its significance.

The Valentine's room is creepy and interesting!

Just a short drive from Mintaro main street, sits the regal Martingale Hall.
This historic building is steeped in history and sits amongst beautifully manicured gardens.

Fun fact for movie buffs; MDH was a chosen movie set location for the iconic Picnic at Hanging Rock.

Unfortunately it was closed when we visited, but will endeavour to return when we next visit out that way.

If you would like to get an idea of how the landed gentry lived in England in the manner of a Jane Austen novel, here’s the ideal place to visit. This country mansion was fashioned and built in the upper class style at great expense, probably now at an irreplaceable cost. The architectural workmanship, the fittings and furnishings all give a wonderful glimpse into the manor born. The house has been left decorated as it would have been and is in amazing condition. The historical artefacts are outstanding.

Worth the $18 entry. It's a beautiful home with fantastic furnishings. Looks very expensive and scared to move around incase I knocked over a priceless item 😅. Follow us Sweet-Az RV'n on youtube
