The Commodore

Today we booked a table of 20 at the restuarant. After we had ordered our drinks, we were advised that the owners would not split the bill. This left us scrambling to pay. One of us volunteered to pay for the total bill, which was around $1200. As you can imagine there was a lot of work involved in us paying back our college....much, much more work than would have been involved if they had split the bill.
To add injury to insult, my steak was served cold and undercooked. They also refused to verify that it was the correct weight as advertised.
In all, a VERY poor performance, and I suggest you avoid this place like the plague.

Great value hotel in Mount Gambier. Situated on the main through route, within easy reach of the supermarkets. Staff very friendly and efficient.

You get a rush merging into the commodore just after the roundabout. Otherwise rooms are super tidy, service is great and food is tasty!

We stayed in this hotel during our road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne and were extremely impressed. What looks just like you side of the road motel is actually a completely refurbished, modern 4 star hotel. Room, bathroom, reception, restaurant are all very modern and we were very happy with our stay. Staff is extremely friendly as well. We highly recommend to stay here if you visit Mt Gambier.

I'm giving 5 stars for service and location although haven't had a room my brother had an accident out the front which landed him in a ambulance to hospital. They were so amazing as to take the bike and inside and look after it. They didn't have to do that but they did if I didn't live here I would surely rent a room from their helpful friendly staff

We were passing the city and decided to stay there overnight. The room was very clean, staff were friendly. Naomi in particular was so kind and friendly and took care of us the next morning for breakfast and made us really delicious coffees. I enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Not just a Motel. The restaurant and bar is well above average. As well as serving good food they have an extensive selection of drinks. Here is just their range of Gin on offer.

Amazing place to stay, has all your basic needs plus some little extras. Rooms are modern, clean and very comfortable. It’s conveniently in the middle of most of the main attractions and staff are very friendly and helpful

Spent the night in the function room for a wedding. Everything was lovely! The food was delicious, all the staff were fantastic, and the whole place looked great! Would absolutely host an event here

We had a lovely stay here. The staff were, without exception, courteous, helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean(except grouting seal in shower, as is usual). The bed was very comfortable. Air con worked well. And our breakfast was lovely. Would certainly come again.

Great value accommodation!!! The rooms were well equipped and very clean. The TV wasn’t working though but not a huge deal. The space was very well kept.

The food from the in-house restaurant was delicious! We had the beef skewer which was absolutely delicious and the paella for the main which was delicious but the portion size was pretty small! Apart from that the experience was great!

This was a business visit. The service was great. The food was perfect.

Was a really lovely stay, staff are very friendly and the rooms are clean.

4 star hotel that provides 5 star meals and breakfast, absolutely tasty eggs, bacon, chorizos and the dinners are superb high quality ingredients with amazing presentation highly recommend the pork belly porchetta. Waitress are very nice and great at their job. Stayed here here from Friday 26th to Monday 29th May. Also the alcoholic beverage selection is huge

The rooms are nice with a comfortable bed, decent sized TV (WITH FOXTEL)

Restaurant is good. However last time during my stay I was waken by staffs chatting outside of my room at 4 a.m. one of them even smoked and I could smell that in my room which made me sick.
That ruined the experience.

The Commodore hotel was a very nice hotel to stay in. The rooms were clean, neat and tidy. It also looked like they just refreshed or renovated the rooms as the decorations and the furnishings seemed to be a bit more modern for the price we paid for unless it has always been like the way it is now and we paid a bargain.

The location was very accessible to the town centre as it was only a 5-10 minute walk straight down one road and you are dead centre in Mount Gambier which allows you to walk to dinner, lunch or even breakfast if you get up early enough.

The bed was comfortable and the sheets seemed very clean which is definitely what you want to see in a room. The bathroom was clean and tidy. The shower head was not detachable but the mirrors were large and had a fan within the bathroom for those that wanted to know these details.

Front service was great as Pauline (Can't remember name) was very friendly and gave me valuable information about the rooms, hotel, and surroundings. Housekeeping also gets a mention as they did an amazing job in taking care of the rooms!

Just to note that you would need to pay for a lot of the products left in the room such as chips, treats and even the water bottles. This definitely did not tarnish our stay tho since it definitely was a top notch stay and we will definitely be back!

Staff and food is always good. Rooms are very comfortable

The staff we dealt with are a credit to the organisation. Polite, cheerful, courteous, helpful. Makes such a difference.

Review is for the restaurant only (did not stay at the hotel). The staff were really great, they made a lovely cocktail & the food was superb. Perfect for our "last night of the trip" dinner splurge.
