Commonwealth park has a lot to offer from a beautiful stroll to some very interesting historic information just before you head into the park,

The park has some events going on over the year. As I write this post, being September, the Floriade festival is on with a day and night viewing,
Well worth a day out, just take a pack lunch, and I do believe you will enjoy your time here.

Floriade 2023-Amazing and so eyecatching flower arrangements where one should visit.

The Floriade festival happens between late September and early October and is a great time to visit Canberra if you can. The weather is very comfortable, it isn’t too hot or too cold and there are lots of events happening around the city. The Floriade is an excellent display of tulips, flowers and other vegetation, with lots of things to do with kids, such as play areas and activities.

Gorgeous park. Lots of room for everyone to spread out. Limited parking near entrance (So get early if you don't want to walk) especially on Floriade days.

One of the nicest places in Canberra. Walking track is wide and clean. Takes in many places and always has good views.

Love this park! Lovely paths, water and plenty of grassy spots or tables for a picnic. Of course floriade is wonderful too. The castle reminds me of my childhood and is still a fun play area for kids.

Lovely and peaceful. The plantings on the Floriade site were beautiful as is the scenery of the surrounding area and lake. I enjoyed it more than usual without all the jostling crowds as usual during floriade

One of the best parks to visit with family or friends for a picnic in Canberra.

Parking: There is ample parking on both sides of the bridge.

Activites: Do take a lake walk which is less than 5km but worth the views.

Best time to visit: During the spring between mid September and mid october when 'Floriad' festival is on.

Pets: Area is pets friendly.

Restrooms: Near the parking on both sides.

The yearly Floriade was on so went along to have a look. We ended up driving back to the city centre to park and catch the free shuttle bus as there was no parking available at the park. Overall it was a great afternoon looking at all the displays.

What a gorgeous place to bring the family. Will come back again as there's a lot to see.
