A great walk. Uphill a fair bit but some great water crossings and mini waterfalls after rain. Popular spot, so felt safe.

We wanted a quick morning hike that was close to our location so we went on All Trails and found an awesome 10km rim walk, we didn’t even know this National Park was here . It was surprisingly a lovely hike that was well maintained and moderate, excellent views in some locations with the view of the city, would definitely do this again. It also had some hard hills which made for a good workout.

Trails are definitely getting a 5.
But you should know the services let you down. One public toilet
Couple of taps- but everyone should have a tap key in the car.

There are several interesting walks (& bike routes) here.. depending on how easy (or not) you want to exercise. There are several information boards where you can download your walk route. Lots and f parking in and around - easy access

This is a beautiful area for walking or mountain biking. The trails are very clearly marked and it’s very easy to follow. There are easy and wide paths like the one in the picture, and also smaller walking trails around the main paths for those who are a little more adventurous. If you like quiet walks in nature away from the touristic sites, this area would not disappoint.

Nerang National Park is a true natural treasure nestled in the heart of the Gold Coast hinterland. It's a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

One of the park's standout features is its lush rainforest, which is home to an abundance of native flora and fauna. The well-maintained walking trails offer a chance to immerse yourself in this pristine environment, providing a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The park's centerpiece is the serene Nerang River, offering tranquil spots for picnics and a refreshing dip on a hot day. The sound of running water and the chirping of birds make it a peaceful retreat.

For those seeking adventure, the park offers opportunities for mountain biking and horse riding, adding an exciting dimension to your visit.

Nerang National Park is not just a natural playground; it's a place to unwind, connect with nature, and recharge. Whether you're hiking, picnicking, or simply taking in the breathtaking scenery, it's a beautiful slice of wilderness that's well worth exploring.

A handful of great tracks wander through the vast bushland to make it a unique experience. Not very accessible from the top end of Nerang though, with you having to scale cliff edges (with a bike) you'll have a lot of fun though :) A great experience

Great place for ultra marathon training. Fairly cruising no think fire trails. But some cool single track mtb trails deep in the heart of it. Gets super humid though. Most of my training is spent in here.
I suggest going with someone that knows the trails the first few times. Word is you could run 50km in there without stepping on the same trail twice!

My favourite place to run locally (that isn't Springbrook or Binna Burra).

As the premiere mountain bike riding location for the Gold Coast this bike park is extremely popular. I have been told that according to counters placed at the main gate up to 5000 people can enter the park per week. 80% of these people will be MTB riders. It is very popular with trail runners and hikers also. This is an extensive National Park so its status as such prohibits dogs. There is a wheelchair ramp at the main entrance car park, there are toilet facilities and also a velodrome, for those who like to ride around in circles flat out. The 2018 Commonwealth Games tracks are also conveniently located near the main entrance.

The majority of MTB trails in Nerang are graded blue but there is an assortment of easy green trails not far from the main entrance. Black level trails are few and far between, (being not overly popular with the local branch of QPWS who have destroyed a couple of well-established black trails in recent times due to them not being ‘sanctioned’). Some trails can get pretty rough and some get over grown with Lantana, but this mainly applies to the 'unsanctioned' trails further out, and the further out you go the easier it is to become lost so Trailforks is your best option here.

If you are intending to run or hike in Nerang it is my advice that you stick to the wider fire tracks and stay off narrow trails, particularly if you are new to the park. The single trail here has been designed primarily for bike use and sees a lot of this type of traffic, especially on the weekends. However, if you feel compelled to explore the narrow winding trails on foot then please refrain from using ear phones, as blocking your ears will render you deaf to the approach of much faster moving and numerous bike riders.
There is a huge amount of wildlife in the park. There is a variety of roos and wallabies which are very accustomed to bike riders, evidenced by the fact they never move far away from the trail when you pass them. There are koalas (who take no notice whatsoever of bike riders) and many species of reptile, large and small.

During the warmer weather it can get quite humid, and expect to be attacked aggressively by march flies and mosquitos. When there has been a lot of rain the lower parts of the forest can get a bit swampy. Always bring plenty of water. There's loads of up and down and its thirsty work.

Finding a car park on a weekend close to the main entrance can be a challenge, but parking can always be found across the Nerang Connection Road.
