Great place for study/work with a nice cup of coffee.
This cafe only serves coffee/tea and croissants, not an ideal place for brunch but excellent place to chill. It can be busy during weekends but on a work day, it’s quite and a great option if you want to have coffee while you are working.

A place for coffee, croissants and zen. Cafe Babylon in Chatswood, summed up in one short and sweet statement. This beautiful, pristine, crisp and clean space is the newest addition to the Babylon apartments by the Chatswood library, just across the way from the Westfield mall and bus stops, and yet amongst the bustle is a place so peaceful that once you arrive you won’t want to leave.

Customers coming to visit Babylon can expect a quaint and serene environment. It’s quite a spacious place, with tables to fit 2-6 people placed around the centre island. A small cabinet displays 3 types of croissants (subject to availability), alongside a precisely placed menu with the caffeinated offerings. The menu is so minimal it’s actually a blessing, for I wasn’t kidding when I said earlier it’s JUST coffee and croissants, though the coffee offering is actually more generous than the standard coffee shop in Sydney, offering alternative brews that “busier” shops can not afford to do.

While Babylon is a stunning marvel of atmosphere, there is an unfortunate disconnect between barista and consumer. While there are many customers who prefer to order, sit down and be left alone, Babylon appears to miss the point of human connection. Walk into most specialty coffee shops and find a friendly space where customers are welcome can sit around the bench and chat to baristas while they share their passion for the craft. However the lack of seating forces the baristas and customers towards a feeling of isolation, which may not be ideal for some people to crave community and conversation. However, as I said earlier, Babylon is more a space of zen and quiet time, even the lonesome tree stands as a beacon of meditation.

Would I return to this place if ever in Chatswood? Absolutely, the coffee is great, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the croissants merely serves as a little something on the side. However, I would ditch the plastic and takeaway cups for dining in, we don’t need another wasteful Starbucks.

Pros: beautiful space, minimal offerings reduce decision making, great-tasting coffee, alternative brewing techniques.

Cons: maybe not enough offering for those who are expecting more.

Hidden above the busyness of the Chatswood CBD, it is a beautifully designed cafe space akin to an urban oasis, decorated with carefully arranged plants and a central serving island.

Great coffees made using Market Lane beans, and a variety of cold drinks such as matcha latte, people come here to chill and get away from it all. Staff are really attentive, patient yet efficient.

The environment is the standout at this place, Starbucks down below is a patch on the true relaxation this place offers. The only drawback is that seats have no charging points, perhaps intentional to allow customers to cycle routinely, giving other customers a chance to sample the ambience of this urban oasis.

I’d been meaning to visit this cafe for a while and finally got a chance to go. I really liked the look of the cafe, service was really great and we enjoyed the coffee! Seems like a quiet place to study and read as well!

Loves this coffee shop. Minimalistic in design and quite spacious. Coffee always good and the croissants are the best in here.

This is a best Cafe in Sydney,and there is very friendly staffs and great coffee as well.
Especially Matcha latte is awesome,kind of Japanese Matcha.
If you're in chatswood you should go.

A very cool, modern cafe for a simple coffee and pastry. Great place to sit and chat with your friends, and take pretty pictures for your instagram.

Loved the bitterness of the matcha latte and how Zen it felt upstairs, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of chatswood! Also really liked their acoustic playlist in the background.

Accidentally found this Cafe about 2 weeks ago in the heart of Chatswood. I have nothing but great things to share about this place after 2 visits for takeaway coffees and croissants. Very nice set up in terms of cleanliness, space, brightness and location. Staff members are always polite and professional. Coffees are nice, croissants very yummy too! I ordered dirty Macha Latte with Almond milk which was very tasty, the Almond Croissants are amazing! Definitely coming back soon to eat in!

I dont usually post about cafes much but i will for this. Interior feel like you are at home and made to feel welcome. Reading other comments about running out of products which i think is great the business is selling thrm considering they are new and they can only learn and get better in ordering. People here complaining about paper cups served with me personally i dont have a problem with it as most of us have been to Starbucks with no complaint. We all have other ways we support the environment. Keep up the good work and reamin positive as you are still learning to grow.

Visited with my kid few days ago. Great drinks and very kind staffs. My kid loved the mashmellow and babychino :) I am a coffee lover and the barista kindly answered all my questions about coffee. Definetely will visit again.
