Wendy's at Wattle Park - Flinders Ranges

I was booked in for 4 nights as a solo traveller looking for a farm stay not too far from Adelaide in the dead of winter Aug 2022. I was warmly received by Michelle not long after my arrival and found the charming historical cottage very clean and tidy with a large renovated kitchen, dining, and fireplace. Wood was available in the varendah for the fireplace and the fridge was stocked with lots of breakfast goodies.

If you're looking for atmosphere and charm replete with kangaroos hopping around in the backyard and dating back to the earliest settlers this is the place to stay. You'll even get a chance to visit the ruins of"Little Hell", the owner's ancestral home within walking distance from the cottage and imagine what life was like back in the day.

Robin(a 4th generation descendant) was most hospitable and took me on tours around the properties, even got a chance to feed the sheep. Not being one to talk much, in Robin I could feel the salt of the Aussie earth giving rise to a respect for people like him who make up the backbone of this country.

Germein Gorge where this cottage is, belongs to an understated part of the Flinders Ranges. Here you'll find nature, peace and tranquillity.....and it's not just because there's no cell reception.
On the same note, all is not lost because there's a landline in the cottage.

If I had known what a wonderful place this is, I would have booked for 7 nights.

We where there in the month of July for three wonderful night in the southern Flinders ranges, which meant no pesky flies. We found Wendy's to be a very clean and comfortable place to stay. I would recommend Wendy's as a base to explore the southern flinders ranges as it is in reach of most scenic attractions.
