Who knew there was a BC (before colonisation) tree , that's over 400 years old, still standing near Wirrabara in South Australia. It should celebrated as a proud , renowned natural monument in SA history.

After cursing the person who thought it was only 150m to the tree and back tracking nearly the entire spur we found the "King Tree" on a side path. It is roughly 150m from the start and it is easy to miss but if you follow the path for a few metres you will see it standing there in all it's glory. Unfortunately, the information sign is completely worn off so I don't know the history but if you have the time it is worth checking out.

Lovely forest, great forest drive, but the King tree is a little underwhelming. It took a bit of effort to find it (it was pouring rain and the roads were fairly treacherous), and I'm not certain it was worth the effort. Yes, it's a big tree, and it's in a nice paddock, but there are plenty of more spectacular trees around, and I've seen bigger ones. But still, it was an interesting way too spend an afternoon!
