We couldn't wait to get back to Falls Creek for another ski holiday. We couldn't make it in July so we went in August instead - the snow wasn't that great this year so we couldn’t ski in and ski out from the lodge front door. We stayed in Karelia Alpine Lodge as we always do - the best place in Falls Creek and our kids love the Austrian decor, however this year we have experienced some misbehaved juvenile guests that kept us awake all night as they were highly intoxicated and they used the outdoor spa at 1.30 am. I believe that Jerry (the owner) had a word with them and we didn’t see any of them the next day nor for the rest of the week of our stay – most likely that Jerry kicked them out. I am referring to the three juvenile boys deceptive reviews by David and Joshua respectively. Other than this unfortunate incident, we have once again enjoyed the rest of our stay. Karelia Alpine Lodge offers free hot breakfasts, prepared to our order from a small choice each day, and a side-table of continental breakfast with freshly baked Czech pastry was also available - the service (fantastic and friendly staff) was very attentive as always. We were also dinning in JB’s Restaurant (Ground floor within the lodge) and we couldn’t go past the Swiss Cheese fondue and German night. Highly recommended.
We’ll be back next year.

Stayed during the off-season 31st December to January 3

Owner (Jerry) was friendly and everything was pretty tidy and accessible.

has a good common area, restaurant, and the rooms are quite clean

there was a power outage at Falls creek on New Years Eve, the owner did his best to accommodate by powering the downstairs area with a generator. Karelia Alpine Lodge was one of the few places that actually had some sort of power through the night.

if you are European or want to experience a European lodge this place is perfect - very cosy

overall good experience

Cost, charming vibe full of eastern European decor, knock knacks and memories. We stayed in the double delux room. Our room exceeded our expectations. The bed was soft and cosy. Reliable and quick hot water. We stayed in the off season and so the town was a little empty however we were still able to find a bite to eat. We enjoyed dinners at the lodge - an interesting variety. The Jamaican Chicken and the Parmagiana were both yummy. Enjoyed the sauna. Cosy little bar downstairs. A little pricey but good ambiance with a pool table. We would come back.

The actual alpine experience. super cool vibe, don't come here looking for a luxury experience. If you want character, experience of the mountain, and accommodation that makes you feel like you're tucked away in Europe, this is it.

The restaurant is probably the best food on the mountain.

Waited for my late arrival, and treated with respect. I'll be staying here in future.

Stayed here over Easter and just loved it! The lodge was so charming & warm & cosy. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by staff & nothing was too much trouble for them. We enjoyed the fire place in the communal lounge area & snacked on the cookies & tea provided after our day of hiking! We ate dinner at the bar downstairs on 'German Night'. An all you can eat themed night. The atmosphere & food was enjoyable. Finished our nights off with a glass (or two!) of the homemade Gluhwein from the bar. Made us feel like we were overseas in Europe. Was a lovely experience & we'll come back here for Winter!

Quaint alpine lodge with friendly and helpful host and good free wifi. Rooms are comfortable and a good size for on-mountain accommodation. We were here for the Alpine Challenge run in the summer season, so I can't comment on how good it would be for ski season…but it does have a bar.

Had an absolutely brilliant time staying here over Easter. Jerry, the owner is a gentleman and the rooms are really cozy. Will definitely return. Also highly recommend the boot shot at the bar, it's an experience on its own!

The rooms and accommodation itself were amazing and cheaper price than elsewhere. I got upgraded to a double bed for free because I was too tall for the single bed which I appreciated.
However the lady working there is just bitter and unhappy- not very pleasant to deal with. Otherwise great stay

Great quirky place to stay. Rooms are compact with heaps of hidden storage, comfy beds with Austrian ambiance. Big thanks to Jerry and staff, very friendly and accommodating.

This place is excellent not only because it looks cozy, but also the people who are here. Jerry made me feel like a trustful old friend. He helped us solve the problem at late night when we desperately need help even we have already checked out.

Unique wooden building with amazing decorations
Great location for ski-in-ski-out when there's snow cover in the village in winter.
