The Bikesmith & Espresso Bar

Bought a bike online on a monday.. got the bike on tuesday to Canberra.
Communication with staff was great and all transactions went very smoothly with no hassles. Very happy.

Today my friend Jon got married at Maitland Uniting Church, which was really great for me because it gave me a reason to go to the BikeSmith Espresso Bar. This was my sixth time at the BikeSmith Espresso bar. The first time i went was after my friend Tim's wedding in December. What happened was, the wedding went a bit longer than I would have liked and so I realised I needed a coffee afterwards. I walked down the road with my friend Steve and we found this shop. We had a great first experience, which led us to going another four times - all after church services. I could write a book about all the experiences we had here, but Ill keep this review short.

This brings me to today's trip to the BikeSmith Espresso Bar. We were all sitting in the church absoloutly itching for a coffee. It was all I could think about during the wedding. We got out as quick as possible, said congratulations to Jon and made our way down the road. The group consisted of Steve, Jake, Toby, Kim, Charlotte, Jess and myself. Jess wasn't invited to the reception which was a bit awkward. Lol. Jake had just come off a very big day, so he was keen for a coffee and was first to order. Me, Kim and Steve got flat whites, but mine had an extra sugar. Toby had a bit of an episode due to some loud noises, but he brought it under control with his breathing techniques. Proud of you Toby.

About 10 minutes in, James Hutton made a surprise appearance. We noticed him outside looking very lost, as all his friends were busy, and so we brought him in. He told us that we were seventh on the list of his list of friend groups, so it was nice to hear we made the top 10. We invited him to hang out this weekend but hes busy.

Id better sign off now as we have to go to the reception, but I want to say a big thanks to BikeSmith Espresso Bar for the great service and great coffee. I'm looking forward to my seventh visit.

Hands-down best Iced Latte in Maitland. The team here are always friendly, polite and well-presented, and the cafe is clean and tidy.
I would absolutely recommend The Bikesmith to anyone who loves good coffee.

Took my tourer there for a complete once-over after it sat in the garage for 4 years, neglected. Delighted with the outcome. They have a totally professional and thorough attention to detail and my bike came out riding beautifully. Every last detail was sorted. Excellent job.

Update: A few months later after many km of riding, the front derailleur needed attention. I called and asked if they could do it while I wait, next day. A gentleman called Haydn answered and told me that they would do their best.

Sure enough, I turned up next day and was attended to immediately. The repair was simply superb and really restored the finicky front gears to easy and effective operation.

The technical expertise and courtesy at The Bikesmith is beyond reproach - simply fabulous and very good prices for top level expertise. Thanks, Haydn.

Best coffee in Maitland! Went in on a Sunday and had a great coffee. Same beans used by Suspension Espresso in town. Lovely light space and nice friendly staff. Barista gave my cappuccino the best bit of latte art I've had for a while. Real plants and environmentally concerned business.

Great coffee, friendly service - and Tim has taken care of my cycle service needs with efficiency and professionalism. It's great to have a vibrant cafe culture in Maitland, and Bikesmith are integral to that - often being open on public holidays (which is much appreciated by caffeine addicts), early mornings and into the afternoon.

Got my new bike from the Bikesmith, it's a beautiful bike and everything I was hoping for. I'm so grateful for their advice and they were really helpful with fitting me for a helmet. Great customer service and definitely recommend!

Solid coffee and snacks - great place for a quick catch up

Great coffee & service

I am a rather picky coffee drinker (due to the fact that I tend to drink it black with no sugar). I was absolutely impressed with the collective talents of the roasters, those who selected the beans and the baristas. I have to say, the coffee here was at least as good as any of the coffee houses I visited in Italy and France.

The best coffee in maitland does get very busy at times well worth the wait.

Fabulous coffee, great service, perfect sun rays filtering through, cool place to lounge. How lucky are we to have these places in Maitland. Thank you TB&EB for all the great expressos.

One of our favourite cafe's in Maitland. The coffee is consistently excellent and the staff are all lovely. Would highly recommend!

Fantastic atmosphere, lovely coffee, and awesomely warm, approachable staff. Kudos to Tim the Bike Guy (and his sidekick, who looked like he walked off the set of Lords of Dogtown =) ). Tim knows his stuff and was supremely easy going. Cheers guys!

Brilliant people and brilliant service. If there were 10 stars I would rate it 20 out of 10. A must visit place in Maitland. Dog friendly as well.. which makes this place all the better
