Initially helpful but are now prepared to let me be homeless because I don't fit their bureaucratic model. Tried to blame me for their administrative failings.

The Veterans Homeless Program is nothing more than mere window dressing. They only fund short-medium term emergency accommodation (ie hotels) as well as a shared student style 'hub' on the Northside - which only accomodates no more than 5 people. If you're living in the SEQ region, there is absolutely no housing properties for veterans transitioning into permanent accommodation; these are only available in Central and Northern Queensland.

As for permanent accommodation, the responsibility is totally outsourced to a third rate charity - The Salvation Army. All the Veterans I know have nothing favourable to say about this service, as all they ultimately do is just guide you towards looking for private market rentals and or going down the dead end rabbit hole with submitting/chasing applications to Qld Dept Housing. Again it's just mere window dressing!

RSL-QLD have MUCH to answer for as far as those living in South East Qld. Unlike RSL NSW and other bodies in Victoria that offer permanent accomodation options, it's non existent here. Outsourcing the responsibility to a non for profit organisation only states the obvious - they don't want to take responsibility (particularly financially) and or can't handle dealing with a hard basket situation when it comes to housing veterans. Out of the massive profits generated from their Art Union campaign, only a minor fraction goes towards the vets themselves; yet they are proud to boast lip service when it comes to quoting meaningless hollow stats (as quoted in Nathan Lewis' reply below).

Sad to RSL Queensland are too overworked and underpaid to return a simple phone call or reply to an email. Little wonder veterans don't want anything to do with the RSL these days. Pathetic

Reached out regarding veterans employment program, didn't expect much but was delivered nothing at all besides a 1 hour consultation followed by complete radio silence. Wouldn't waste your time here.

Achieved nothing from reaching out to RSL QLD , did not feel they really cared ,wasted nearly 2 years. Could have had the exact same result without reaching out to them.
